New Gurtenbahn in test (Apr 2024) 4K

The renovated Gurtenbahn funicular during its last tests on April 26th, 2024.
The renovation work to renew the Gurtenbahn began on January 3, 2024.
- The Gurtenbahn will switch to cashless payment.
- The valley station will be redesigned to be handicapped accessible. In the future, passengers will be able to take a lift directly from the entrance area to the waiting hall.
- The entrance to the lowest compartment of the new railway will be at ground level. Separate access will be created for bikers.
- The cable car technology will be comprehensively renovated and designed for fully automatic operation.
- The infrastructure is adapted to automatic operation and replaced where necessary.
- The railway will receive new, modern car bodies with a modern design.
- The new funicular is scheduled to open at the beginning of May 2024.
