I learned to play 20 years ago on my dad's 1967 Hagstrom III sunburst with the tiniest neck and lowest action you've seen on a guitar. A month ago I picked up this identical Black Hagstrom UltraMax. Played an open mic with it that next night and it was a complete crowd pleaser-great tone and good affinity for bluesy licks and meaty rhythm. If you're of the opinion that it is better than the Gibson, you'll be further delighted to know that it wasn't more than $1000.

I have a Gibson and a hangstum love them both the hangstrum sounds a little more fuzzy with distortion and I got for seven hundred dollars the Gibson is the go to guitar sounds more vintage a little cleaner and I paid around three thousand for it

Hey there, IS the Ultra max suited to heavier playing as well as clean? I'm mostly metal but also like playing jeff buckley type songs. Currently use an active humbucker Schecter but want something more versatile.

As a hard rock guy-I would say these are very suited for hard rock. Try to get easy/better pinch harmonics from another guitar. These also sound killer in drop tune-not common...Active can be cool to reduce noise-but often loose tone

Those composite Resonator fret boards are only on the modern reissue era Hagstrom from the 2000's. None of the vintage models from the late fifties to the early eighties had composite Resonator fretboards. Also, trying to test wolf tones on the neck, and length of sustain, is always best done without gobs of soaked preamp distortion. You should do a dry run off this stuff before you turn the camera on so there's no surprises 😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣

We get many… see all of our many noisy Les Paul videos ((dozens of models through dozens of amps). Doesn’t mean they cant be cool tools.
