Great image diptychs. I've been working through my own disposable last few weeks... so many shots!

After seeing your diptychs, half frame makes more sense to me. I had nothing against it just wasn't for me. With a disposable option and a little inspiration I'm thinking it's worth a roll.

Gene Smith used the Olympus Pen F, even for commercial work. Our mileage will probably vary.

Looks like a great way to try half frame for us occasional film shooters. The images looked better than I expected, Dave.

As always your video and film shots were spot on and the diptychs were a perfect match. I was surprised just how sharp and colourful the photos out turned particularly the shots featuring a large expanse of sky which i would expect to be overexposed but if anything looked a tiny bit underexposed i really like this film from the Swiss branch of ilford.

Thanks - Yeah this stock is pretty good man

It never ceases to amaze me how the 2015+ crop of plastic-lens disposables (for the most part) have really decent/sharp lenses and images. They beat the fixed-focus, reusable point &shoot cameras from the 1970s/80s/90s hands down in terms of image quality. And I like the Ilfocolor stock -- so this is a great match!

If you have reasonable expectations, these plastic lenses won’t disappoint you

@@theoldcameraguy -- I've gotten pretty good at cracking open old/expired disposables to extract the film (after 'rewinding' it back into the cartridge while covering the lens) for use -- I may get one of each of these with the Ilfocolor film -- shoot the film, extract it to send it off to The Darkroom, but keep the camera intact enough to load other 400 ISO film into, seal it up and reuse it....

These are nice Dave. You are definitely upping your game with every video. Me like you will use just about any film camera because we love film. Plain and simple.

When shooting those side by side images, how do you know your in that set ? Longer wind between frames?
@theoldcameraguy4 күн бұрын
It’s a very short wind between each individual frame since the film only has to travel half as far as normal. I just shot one frame, wound, and then shot the next frame of something that would complement the first photo. The first frame will end up on the right side of the diptych and the second frame will be on the left.

I love my half frame cameras, it annoys me when some people slight them , yet 35mm film was made for 'movie' cameras which produce two frames on 35mm film same as half frame.¹

Is it sac religious that the only reason I don’t like the half frame is cause a lot of the time I wanna get through that roll fast as soon as I take a pic I’m really excited about. 72 frames is too long!😂

You said you use your left eye. Are you also left handed? I shoot with my left eye but I am right handed. All the photographers I know use their right eye. Additionally, I keep my right eye open when I shoot. At weddings it’s helpful because I can see what’s going on around me while shooting.
