I think Too much wood is wasted by shrinking it.. to reduce this , can we insert a small size wood log with the same height. ??

That can be done, but then balance and alignment can be an issue and after long term use that joint may fail. I have seen such mace and believe me if there is slight shake or disbalance at that joint, it feels terrible

When made in 2 parts head separately n handle separately how do you join or lock the 2 pieces together

​@@sameershah7797 They drill the head part and attach a large screw.. on the other hand they make the handle and do the nurling work on it's top and they join it seems.. But that is not the traditional way I think. Also it will be at risk... in many situations & weather conditions.
