New HDB resale flat portal for owners, agents to list, market and compare units

A new retail listing portal for HDB flats is available from May 13 for buyers, sellers and agents. They can list, market and compare units on HDB's Resale Flat Listing Service. The portal will be officially launched later this month. Professor Sing Tien Foo from the Department of Real Estate at the NUS Business School talks about the usefulness of the listing service.

It is RIDICULOUS for agents to charge 2% or more of commisions for purchase/sale. It should be a fixed/lump sum (eg. $5k max) and should be decided by CEA or Parliament.

HDB transaction could be done between buyers and sellers, without a need for property agents acting for either party if HDB can offer this and smoothen the process for such transaction which would save alot for both sellers and buyers. Property agents are actually unnecessary in HDB transaction.

Many property agents do not turn up for viewing giving excuses esp on a Sunday. End up buyer and seller only but yet had to pay agent fee. And another tactic seller's agent is to hold the house until best bid is offered. Hopefully with hdb portal, it do away agents tactics.

Hdb control over the hfe application letter like mine, pending for many months still not approved yet, even I have 3 children as nuclear family and cash to pay the hdb flat without any loan. Buyer want cheap and seller wants high price to have the lottery effect and buy condominium. Will this hdb portal help the poor Singaporean?

Can houses be like how we look at a shop, if they selling to just paste under block and the price? The common sense should be like that, it should be okay, then if woodlands checkpoint to paste a noticeboard to sell houses that's closest, also Johor too, both to be the same of each other. Distance, maybe surrounding woodlands interchange, if Johor maybe until surrounding Angsana?

Yes feels like property agents should not handle public housing at all - avoid prices from hiking. It should remain affordable

our late PM LKY had said HDB is for Singaporean, which can afford to, like he said, 居者有其屋, but now it is so expensive that our young generation is struggling to buy now

Is HDB selling buyers its HDB flats at prices that are way above the cost involved in building them, or is HDB making buyers pay for the additional cost of building facilities

Transactions involving willing buyers and willing sellers shouldn't be hampered by HDB. Because of their facing locations and state, HDB prices might vary significantly even within the same town and block. As such, HDB should avoid being an agent of telling people what is the right price to sell or buy.

This new listing portal by HDB will reduce the information asymmetry and transaction cost for prospective buyer and seller. This will impact the market power of real estate industry at large, causing lower profit and wage for companies and agents respectively. PAP government is trying to make businesses go bust and massive unemployment. Lobby groups representing business unions and real estate agents should organize campaigns to strike back at HDB and PAP.

U ask your party members to return all the profits from their HDB transaction lo. Or from now onwards, ask your party to sell their houses at a cheaper price so our younger generation can buy low la. I sure support you. I'm trying to find cheap HDB anyway..

Property agents are actually irrelevant in the long term as most young hdb singaporean are mostly smart to handle. HDB will improve the platform via A.I. Extensively. Massive Savings is the big draw !!!!!
