Many years ago, in a prior life, I was given the A-10A kit in return for locating someone.... Bet you have not heard anything like this before. Also got a Tamiya 1/48 F-16 the same way!

Looks like a great kit, and a great price with a badly molded canopy that slipped by the "inspector". I'd definitely be in the market for one.

I never built a A-10. If this kit were given to me I think i would try to make a 1980s version of it, with wraparound green/dark green/dark gray European One / Charcoal Lizard camouflage.

HLJ had one left in stock, so I snapped it up. The reviews seem very positive. There is a brand new A-10 kit from Academy coming out in January (which is about half the price), but I suspect it won't have all the options for flaps, PE and different decals that come with the HobbyBoss kit. What's your experience with Academy? I mostly have only built Hasegawa or Aoshima. I built an A-10 as a kid and have can't wait to take a crack at a larger scale version. I think I'm gonna go with that black scheme. 😎

I saw the new Academy kit at the recent Telford show, though well priced here at about £45 its not as good value as the Hobby Boss kit and had some strange things like the Pavenny targeting system, which is not on the 'C' version, plus the engines were no better in terms of blade detail...the really fancy A-10 kit will be the new Great Wall Hobby, coming soon! To build a current A-10C one needs to obtain current weapons, designator pods and ECM pods...

Luckily the Hobbyboss/Trumpeter customer service is quite good. They'll send you out a remplacement clear sprue free of charge. Happened to me once, I had a bit of dirt molded into the clear part.
