Getting belt off is easy, it’s called pruning shears. Getting a belt on seems to be the problem.

My dad had a 488. Biggest POS we dealt with. That thing had a lot of shit break and was beyond repair after one season. Don't get Gehl either, as ours kept breaking sickle blades every couple hours of up time.
