I own a New Holland and a Massey. Neither one of these tractors but I've been running both for years. These guys go out and drive a tractor for a couple of hours and now they have expert opinions. . Tractor performance and life are based on many factors. I've had good service from both and the reason why? It's because I take care of my shit. Preventive maintenance, service and not overloading them. Having someone to operate your equipment that knows what he's doing is the key to increased life and no down time.

I work at a NH/MF dealer and they both offer 3,4,6 cylinder engines MF offers a 7 cylinder as well and both brands offer small,medium and large frame tractors for different applications what you have here is a small frame 4 cyl 150hp vs a medium frame 150hp 6cyl tractor same HP meant for different applications A fair comparison to a T7 would have been a MF 7719 I think it would have been a lot better comparison and to be fair NH just made all their 6cyl T6 models except for the T6.180 all 4 cyl ... So a T6 could compare to the MF 6616 model .both are great brands I work on both

Thank you for your response! We have very few MF and NH dealers here in Maryland, so I am on the fence about selecting one or going with a Deere/Kubota. I’m just tired of the large brand prices. It is getting ridiculous. If you have any other thoughts/suggestions I’d love to hear. Thanks again!

I really don't understand what farmers weekly were doing when they conducted thus test, it's 2 completely different tractors from 2 different manufacturers, so basically threw the rule book on fair testing out before they even started. Using 2 NH or 2 massey would of been a better comparison

NH wins hands down. Its much better for the job with its power and that interior is bog standard yet you still get much more for standard that others offer. Massey is equipped with more extras, thats why it looked better. NH improved has the best seats for comfort and you can get nicer displays inside.

My first tractor to work with was a Massey Ferguson and I loved it until I got on a Ford tractor which had more horsepower and had power steering also. The first tractor I purchased for myself was a John Deere and it is great for what I do and since 2002 when I got it new the tractor have yet to be in the shop. If I was farming like those two tractors was designed for the 6 cylinder would be my choice with the plows they are pulling.

What is the fuel consumption during this test? "Could have done with some more weight" = the test wasn't setup for an even comparison. Great production value, just need to nail down the format of the test IMO. Maybe DLG have the numbers?

Surprising that if they wee equal in hp and tongue you could feel the difference. I just upgraded from my 2010 4320 to a NX6010. Went from 48hp four cylinder to a 60hp 3 cylinder. I was worried at first but the kioti feels much more powerful to me than considering its only 12hp difference. I shopped all the tractors Massey and New Holland but found my nx6010 for price I could not pass up. Thank you for the video.

That depends, if one has a wider torque curve than the other, it'll feel "beefier", for a lack of better term. Torque matters immensely, in a tractor - It's almost more important than total power.

Ok, as an American farmer who runs older equipment, I don't see why you are pulling at least a 6 bottom ow with a 160 hp tractor. I have a 1964 IH 806 with a 361 cubic inch diesel without a turbo. I'll pull an IH 720 5-16 plow all day like there is nothing back there in heavy clay soil. It seams to me that European farmer tend buy a lot more horsepower than to go really fast rather than buying larger implements. I realize that some of he equipment us Americans would use wouldn't fit your roads.

361 cubic inches is around 5.9 liters. 5-16s means that there are 5 bottoms (furrows as you call them) that are 16 inches wide ( a little under a half a meter). All I was trying to say is that I'm pulling pretty much the same plow with about 50 less horsepower, maybe even a little deeper (8-10 inches deep).

Mate I have IH 1246, european model, with 120 hp and pulling 3 furrows, 14 inches wide and its strugle for him so it depends on soil so you think your soil is heavy:)

Unprofessional comparison, bog standard spec NH v High spec MF, NH has a 1ton weight hanging all the way out off a front linkage(never mind the added weight of the 2 extra cylinders). Of course it's going to perform better. They obviously sourced the two machines from dealers without caring too much about the differences apart from the engine.
