New Holland Workmaster 25S | Subcompact Tractor Review
This is a review of a Subcompact Tractor made by New Holland called the Workmaster 25S. At the time we made this video, this tractor had 15 hours on it. This is a very well built tractor and does a good job at what we use it for.

Last summer I bought one of these with the loader and backhoe. Really happy with it. Dug out quite a few large stumps with it. Wish the curl on the backhoe had a little more power but then I would probably break things, lol. Right now I am digging and leveling an area for a 24x40 cement slab in very hard/rocky ground, I need to lower the backhoe and rip the ground before I use the loader. I found a load of dirt in the bucket for extra weight really helps when ripping though. It's about at its limits in this ground but getting the job done. All in all though I am pretty impressed with it for a 1500 lb sub compact tractor. May get a 3 point mower for it once my lawn tractor takes a dump. Paid $16999 for it. About $5000 cheaper then any other sub compact with the same options(even the identicle LS was $1500 more). Drivetrains in all these small tractors are pretty much the same, many use the Yanmar engine with a hydrostatic transmission so that was one of my biggest factors in going with the less expensive New Holland plus these will loose very little value over time so if you decide to sell it in a few years you will get most of your investment back. It was a no brainer, just the work I have done with it the past year has probably saved me close to $8000 if I had to pay someone else to do it.

I have the LS mt125, which is pretty close to identical to this machine, in fact I think LS builds this tractor for New Holland. I have owned it for 2 years/ 150 hours. It runs circles around the Kubota. I have never operated the 1025r Deere, but I can't justify spending 6000 dollars more for a homeowner machine. The backhoe and loader are amazing. I like the deck too, wish it were a little easier to take on and off...All said these are the best bang for the buck on the market. I am also lucky to have a GREAT dealer, Foskett Power Equipment in Woodstock, Ct. They have been great, before and after the sale.

I've owned this tractor for over a year now with almost a 100 hours on it, it never misses a beat, starts everytime, 4 wheel drive works great when needed, I just need to pull my blades off the deck and either sharpen them if they're still decent enough or replace. The loader bucket and hydraulics work great too. We've done some gravel work with it, pushed snow, carried 6-8 bags of feed at one time, it never fuses.

Check your drain plugs on the front axle, a bunch have come from the factory not fully tightened. My one on the right side as sitting on the tractor came out. The dealer took care of everything fine but they checked the others on their lot and they were loose too. Had about 27 hours on it. Love the tractor and price was 1 of the reason I chose the NH as well but if you look at the lift it is the highest lift capacity between JD Kubota and NH. Also the front axle is a lot stronger than the others as well.

Hey thanks for the info, I will definitely look at those. I was mowing about an acre on Friday and got about half way done and the temperature was darn near at the H. The grass was not super tall or thick and I tried it on the lowest height and about mid height on the mower deck, or still got pretty hot on the temp gauge. I ran the tractor on low gear speed and high on the throttle.

They don't sell the bobcat ones around where we live, but I've seen some videos from bobcat on KZbin. They're probably pretty good tractors if they're anything like their skid steers. On this New Holland tractor I've got, I love it. It's never failed me yet and does exactly what I need it to do. We use the heck out of the loader on the front and it hasn't had any issues or faults. It cuts the grass really well and just keep chugging along. I need to make an updated video. We've owned it about a year now since this video was made. I think we're up to around 75 +/- hours on it. Yesterday I confirmed that you can cut off the middle position tabs on the ROPS hinge and it'll fold down and pin in place just behind the tail lights, almost like it was designed to do that (because it was). Transition from Loader/Backhoe mode to lawn mower mode just got easier. The only downside is that you lose the middle position. Also, if you store the tractor outside, leave the ROPS up so that it doesn't fill with water and rust, or potentially freeze in the winter. Before anyone makes a comment about modifying the ROPS, let me just state that I am a grown man, I make my own decisions, and I accept the responsibility for my actions.
@FencerFixerRepairLLCKansasCity
@FencerFixerRepairLLCKansasCity 3 жыл бұрын
I haven't cut off anything. I just pulled they pins out tilted the bar back and put the pin in the other hole to hold the bar in that position. The reason why I put the bar down was so I didn't hit the limbs on our trees as I mowed around them. I haven't made any other changes to it, it's still factory.
@Mike_Neukam
@Mike_Neukam 3 жыл бұрын
@@FencerFixerRepairLLCKansasCity I just wanted to let you and anyone else reading that there is an option to be able to completely fold and unfold the ROPS without having to get out tools and take out the pivot bolt. It would have been nice if LS had notched the upper bar so that it would clear mid position tabs, allowing it to be easily folded to any of the three positions. I had considered doing that, but decided it would be easier and safer to just cut the tabs.

No regrets so far and I've got almost 100 hours on it right now. I never considered the backhoe for it, we wouldn't use it enough to make it worth the extra cost. I need to pull the blades off and sharpen them and I'm having a heck of time removing them. I got the middle one off, but the outer ones are being a pain and I think I'm going to have to remove the deck first, which I don't think isn't going to be too difficult, just haven't gotten around to trying yet.

@FencerFixerRepairLLCKansasCity

While the loader bucket and bracket arms are on the tractor, it doesn't lock or unlock. It's just held in place with the hydraulics and the cylinders hiding pressure to keep the arms and bucket in place. There are two big pins on the sides that holds the arms to the side of the tractor itself, of that's what you're asking.

@FencerFixerRepairLLCKansasCity
@FencerFixerRepairLLCKansasCity 3 жыл бұрын
I don't know if I'm going to be of much help because I'm not an expert, but one thing I've heard that happens is sometimes it's either the style of belt your using isn't the correct style or something is happening with the pulleys or spindles. There are different styles of belts of the same exact size, they're made out of different materials. Some are regular rubber belts made for mower desks and stuff, and some are stronger and reinforced with some other material and they're usually thicker/wider as well 3/4" thick vs 1/2" thick. Those are the ones I would use for a snow blower is you can find the correct one. Some attachments have more load and run harder when being used and can strain the integrity of a belt that's not designed for that sorta load. I can't recall what those types of belts are called with the reinforced material. Hopefully that gives you some sort of help. I'm just the consumer that bought this for our property.

It does really good. It's a prior slow only because you have to run it in there low gear, which is what's recommended. It has a 60" wide deck on it. The thing I noticed I had to check was the screens on the front and sides as well as the screen that's inside by the radiator and make sure they stay clean of grass and dust before and after I mowed with it. I think we paid with taxes and the whole thing around $16k We've owned it a Little over a year and no issues at all with it. We use it almost every couple of days to do something with it.

@@bridgetrounds1444 I don't think this tractor has a Regen option to it, it's pretty basic sub compact tractor. I don't see a button on it that says anything about regen. I haven't had any issues with it at all. I've got almost 100 hours on it as well also owned it a year and a half now too. I haven't had to do anything to it but change the oil, sharpen the blades, add grease to the fittings where needed, drive it and use it. It sits outside all year long, good or bad that might be for it long term, it doesn't have any issues. Being a diesel, it didn't want to start hardly at all back in February when most of the United States was below zero, but when it was 20° it took a little more effort to start, but it started and ran just fine.

Just looking into the regen process a bit more. Sub compact tractors 25hp and less don't have this and this tractor is 25hp. So you don't have to worry about it.
