Thanks for the tour of New Hope. My daughter and I lived there back in the eighties. she went to high school in New Hope, I was a school bus driver at the high school. Ocassionally my son would join us and he worked on the towpath leading the mules that pulled the barrages full of tourists up and down the canal. My honest opinion of the town was that the people there are snobby, I was really surprised when I saw a Dunkin' Donuts on Main St. Back when I was living there anything "main stream" was frowned upon.

Years ago we would tour New Hope, Usually at first snow. But went there many times during the summer. At the time the canal suffered a several season dry spell. The guide at the canal tenders house when asked about why it was dry told us that when they restored that canal lock they couldn't get it to seal because the lumber the lock gates were made from would float! Me and my wife Sue made our own New Hope tour KZbin video in 2010 but it has copywrite issues because of the music on the train.

You actually passed the best kept secret in New Hope...Martines which is to the far left of the playhouse. The other great place is Zoubis . Fun thing to do...go into the visitors center and get the scavenger hunt map. There are plenty of beautiful sculptures to see that you have passed by unknowingly.

I hike the canal through there pretty regularly. I see lots of wildlife along there. When I was a kid in the early 70's my dad took me on the New Hope-Ivyland train. It's a stream engine. That's still operational.There were also barges pulled by mules that you could ride on the canal. They are long gone. When I was really little I remember we drove through and a mob of hippies was sitting by the cannon. One of them shot me a peace sign.

generally every town mostly smaller ones do not have a 1st Street. This is because in most cases at some point in time these they were reamed to Main Street. Chances are Main st. is the most used name fior what wa once 1st. Street.

Great tour! BTW, I rode my bike across the New Hope/Lambertville bridge in traffic. As I reached the end in Lambertville a Delaware River Bridge commission officer walked up to me and said I must walk my bike on the pedestrian walkway. Not yelling at me but said calmly no riding in traffic on the bridge. His demeanor was very cool. Oops! I didn’t know any better. Lesson learned!

I believe there is some form of registration process that may allow you to use the scooter in PA. You must have insurance for it or so I understand. Anyways, nice tour.

e scooters are like skateboards you do not need insurance
@phillyirish20732 жыл бұрын
@@ThePhillyCaptain They are considered a motorized vehicle, you cant legally drive them on the street without insurance/registration or turn signals and brake lights. They would fall under the same category as a dirt bike, the only exception is for electric wheelchairs.
@merccadoosis88472 жыл бұрын
@@phillyirish2073 e-scooter laws in Pennsylvania according to Benedum legal website: _PENNSYLVANIA TREATS E-SCOOTERS AS MOTOR-DRIVEN CYCLES Pennsylvania does not have a separate law governing the use of electric scooters. Instead, PA law considers e-scooters to be “motor-driven cycles,” which are subject to several specific requirements. Essentially, PA requires e-scooters to follow the same rules and regulations as motorcycles. That means e-scooters must be titled and registered, must have proper insurance coverage, and must satisfy a variety of requirements concerning equipment and inspection. For example, motorcycles must have fenders, turn signals, lights, and other equipment to be considered road-safe_

@@merccadoosis8847 I think Philly Captain is use to Philly where they don't give a shit about stuff like this. Hell, people ride illegal dirt bikes on the streets freely in Philly. Legal or not legal personally I wouldn't want to drive a e-scooter w/so many people on the sidewalks. If someone doesn't hear you and makes a quick step right/left you'll hit them. When walking you can stop on a dime and probably hold the person from falling...
@merccadoosis88472 жыл бұрын
@@mikeblaz What you say is true. But in all fairness, the cop who stopped him was correct. I've seen cops hand out summonses at times like that and am glad he didn't do so at this time. Anyways, Captain needs that scooter so that he can get to the chickens and feed them. Let's hope he isn't stopped again.
