Really nice tour. The bridge is called the New-Hope Lambertville Bridge known by locals as “the free bridge.” Also, the New Hope Group from the late 19th Century was made up of the Pennsylvania Impressionists, many of their works are privately owned, but many are also in the Michener Museum in nearby Doylestown. There exists The Phillips Mill Community Association a mile north on Main, where artists shows still happen and artists in the area still gather. And the Parry Mansion houses the New Hope Historical Society.

Hi Lisa. Thanks for watching and all the additional information! I will definitely check out the Michener Museum in Doylestown next time, and "The Free Bridge" is amazing to walk across. The artistic work and historical significance throughout New Hope are what make it truly special. Please subscribe if you haven't already to see similar videos throughout Pennsylvania and the world! All the Best, JP

I grew up in and around New Hope and Lambertville in the mid 1960s. It was a fabulous place to be, and it still is. I will tell you: Lambertville was a gritty working class town that has blossomed into a lovely little town. I will always miss Phil and Dan's Italian Kitchen!

I'm so glad I was able to inspire you to check out New Hope on your travels to NYC from the UK. You are going to love the city and surrounding area of Bucks County. It has rolling hills, colonial cottages and farmhouses, and many interesting towns and nightlife. It is my most favorite town near NYC. Cape May NJ, Woodstock NY, and Mystic CT are also worth a look. I have video tours of them as well on the channel page. But you are going to love New Hope and the adjacent areas- it actually resembles the north of the UK a bit. Thanks for watching and let me know if you have any questions at all.

I remember me and my ex-wife going to new Hope almost every other weekend from Trenton, New Jersey we used to make that trip almost religiously. I love the little art shops, and Wicca places we used to just stand on the bridge. It brings back great memories. I’m in Virginia now I wish there was someplace similar here.

Thanks for sharing your story, @cross8131. New Hope really has that special charm that makes it unforgettable-between the art shops, unique boutiques, and the peaceful bridge views, it’s no wonder it holds such great memories for you. Virginia has its own gems, but New Hope is definitely one of a kind. Have you explored any spots in Virginia that remind you of it, or are you still searching? Let me know! Don’t forget to subscribe to the channel and check out other videos for more destinations that might spark that same feeling.

I lived in New Hope in the early 1980s I grew up around 15 Mi away. The town was revived in the 1960s and 70s by artist and gay people. I used to have my paintings in the golden door Art Gallery which I don't think exist anymore. I was also a chef in a couple of the fine dining restaurants back in the 1980s. Back then the famous New York City news anchor Jessica Savage drowned it in the canal right next to the restaurant call odette's. She and her date after eating in the restaurant backed up and went over the embankment into the canal and could not get out of their car because they sunk into like 4 ft of mud. It was a huge thing back then. Also Abbie Hoffman who was a famous person back then went missing in New Hope was later found deceased. The largest gay wedding at the time occurred at the Raven bar Resort and there were like 5,000 people there, back then there were many gay bars in New Hope but when HIV came along in the late seventies early eighties many hundreds of them died. Before Peddler's Village existed that whole spot was flea markets and antique shops and junk shops we went all the time in the late seventies then they knocked everything down and built Peddlers Village which we felt was very disappointing. Back then celebrities like Paul Lynde and Kitty Carlisle and Sally Jesse Raphael use to frequent New Hope. Im old now and will never be to New Hope ever again but spent many years their which feels like a lifetime ago. ❤

Great video! Gonna go there in a few days and was wondering where’s a good spot to park. Is the parking at Delaware canal state park free and easily accessible to the shops?
@ProjectGaiaTravel Жыл бұрын
Hey Lawrence. Delaware Canal State Park has free parking but that is quite a distance from New Hope. Are you planning on doing a hike? I usually park in the parking lot at Main St and Perry St with cheap paid parking, around $2 an hour or on the street near the same intersection you can sometimes find free parking.

New Hope was a British area that was built when the British controlled the 13 colonies, it's an area where part of the revolution occurred where Washington crossed the Delaware. New Hope Pennsylvania in the surrounding area is about as close to England as you're going to get in the united states. Actually there are many areas in the state of Pennsylvania that look just like British Countryside.

Hi Dan. Thanks for watching! I park on the street along Main St just north from where the main commercial street starts. Look around Main Street and Parry Street then just walk south into town. It can be hard to find parking, but if you arrive before 11 AM- there are usually spots near this intersection.
@jeffhampton27678 ай бұрын
New Hope Pennsylvania and the surrounding Countryside is very British looking and was controlled by the British when it was the 13 colonies. The whole area with Washington's Crossing was part of the revolution. This area is probably one of the most British looking areas in the United States and many parts of the Pennsylvania Countryside look almost exactly like British Countryside.

Lived near here all my life, this is a thorough review hell stay home if you watched this you have seen the town lol. 5 miles down river is Washington's Crossing Thats the place George and our troops camped, There is a primitive cemetery overlooking the river where some of our founding hero's perished on Christmas eve. Within a few miles there is so much to see so bring your bikes(both foot and gas powered). Oh disregard his statement about pets Keep you pets home sidewalks are small and frankly they don't belong here.

One of the many things to love about New Hope is how pet friendly the town is, with specialty pet boutiques and water bowls for pets offered, restaurants with outdoor seating welcoming pets, etc. - You may not enjoy people bringing their furry friends with them, but New Hope has always been and still remains very pet friendly
