Excellent! My boss came to work one night and handed me a whole bag of Richard Laymon books. I'd never heard of him. It took me a few years to get to them but I'm reading them now. I like them. Very dark, graphic and fast-paced.

Yay for new books! I love buying secondhand and I am glad you were able to find some good finds, and some new horror books to enjoy as well. I think I have the invisible library too and I am so excited to give the series a try. I loved eleanor oliphant back when I read it, so I am excited to see what you will make of it. You know how I feel about vampires and I remember you telling me about nightflyer because I was shocked RR Martin had a vampire novel! It's good that you are curious enough to try controverisal books - I am much the same as well :P
@horror-sickness4 жыл бұрын
The invisible library is a series I always wanted to start so now that I have the first book I have no excuse. Since Eleanor Oliphant was also a present I feel like I need to read it this year as well and I also have only heard good things about it. The vampire novel is Fevre Dream if you want to check it out. Nighflyers is a scifi/horror. Sometimes when opinios are super divided on the community I feel compelled to check out the book to see what is all about...I am too curious 😂

Hey, don't EVER feel bad or feel like you need to explain yourself for buying books secondhand. I know Booktube is really about those new, pristine hardbacks, but that's not always practical -- when you buy secondhand, you get more bang for your buck and you're saving trees. It's a win-win!😊 TerrorVisión sounds so interesting! I took Spanish for five semesters in high school, but I live in a pretty white part of the US (😂) so unfortunately I don't get to practice that often and I'm forgetting a lot of stuff. I hope there's an English translation available soon! I'm also interested in Spellbook of the Lost and Found. I've heard mixed reviews about it and I'd love to hear what you think when you finish it! I'm sorry to hear about your cats. I hope everything is okay now💕

Yes!!! I need to watch my finances at the moment after all that happened in January (basically ended up with a nearly 5000€ debt) so it is also convenient for me to get second hand books. Also most of the good old horror books I want are only available second hand so....win-win as well. I have not read a witchy book in some time, so I hope to get to Spellbook of the Lost and Found this year.

I want to read read Ninth House for very much similar reasons as you do. I love Dawn of the Dead! I want to read the book! I also want a Dawn of the Dead shirt!! The Troop definitely has body horror in it. It’s great!

All the people that were in my buddy read group for Ninth House hated it 😂😂 but some people did love it according to Goodreads so you still have a small change of enjoying it LOL The Troop has to be in one of my next TBR piles because I feel like everyone has read it but me

Let the Right One In was pretty good overall from what I remember. I hope you enjoy The Invisible Library! :D Oh wow, TerrorVision sounds and looks fantastic. I haven't actually heard of Trial by Fire/Fire Walker. Woah, the naked hardcover looks so great! Spellbook of the Lost and Found seems kinda interesting. I can't decide about The Starless Sea! I really liked The Night Circus, but I'm hesitant to pick up The Starless Sea for some reason. Haha oh Ninth House. xD I've heard great things about Frozen Charlotte! I also want to read that one. I remember liking Dark Oracle when I read it! I love some of those old covers on all these books you bought. I should really try out Locke & Key lol.

Thanks again for sending me a book this last Christmas ❤ You the fantasy expert should give Trial by Fire a chance. I hope you enjoy it if you pick it up! I will try to read The Starless Sea soonish lol so I can let you guys know what I think about it. I am hoping to enjoy it since I really liked The Night Circus Locke&Key is pretty graphic so if you do not mind blood and a bit of gore, I really recommend picking it up

So excited you found Dawn of the dead second hand I wish I could have that luck! I rarely find horror books second hand near me. Thank you!!!! It is also not easy for me to find them because in Germany we do not have many second hand books and mostly is all german so I tend to get most of the books I want online. So i try to hunt them down online.😂

Let the right one is SO much better than the movie. If you never got the big twist of the movie (it was blink and you will miss it) you will be surprised. The Cellar is one of my favourite extreme horror novels. Midnight tour is its second sequel and so-so. Beast house is book 2 and there is a novella I have yet to read, I think it is Friday Night at the Beast House. I am planning a reread of the cellar, so we could have a readalong. The woods are dark has a weird history (I think it was heavily censored and his daughter had a restored version later on) and I made a mixed review for No Sanctuary this Autumn, so I am looking forward to watch your opinion.
@horror-sickness4 жыл бұрын
I am really excited to read Let the right one in!!! I did like the original movie so if the book is even better this is going to be a potential 5* for me. I feel like I need to make a proper list of all the Richard Laymon books because I want to collect them all and make sure I read them in the appropiate order 😅 I can not wait now to get to The Cellar. Will try to let you know when I pick it up! I am going to start reading The woods are dark probably between today and tomorrow so I am excited to see how I feel like. Sucks if it is censured because part of what I loved Endless Night so much is because it was just so brutal and disturbing.
@grimreads4 жыл бұрын
@@horror-sickness The woods are dark is still brutal. Finding Richard Laymon books can be tricky, but I would suggest used copies from Amazon.co.uk (that's how I completed my omnibus collection) and anything you can find on bookdepository

@@horror-sickness another reason I was not that pleased with The Woods are Dark is because to me it felt like a more restrained "OffSeason" by Jack Ketchum - and if you are an extreme horror fan, you cannot go wrong with Ketchum
