Hi friends! Having spent more time with the game since I recorded the video I have encountered a worrying amount of bugs which, from what I can see, the developer is racing to patch. To clarify the game type for you, it is a point A to B simulator with material collecting as well but there isn't much of a storyline. I think it's clear that it needed to be more thoroughly tested before release and as I received the game for free, I feel it is only right that I be completely honest for those looking to buy it. As a result of the extensive and growing list of bugs being encountered I'd recommend waiting until a big sale on steam to purchase it for yourself.

Actually I recommend buying it now, because you only have until the 10th to get the DLC for free, and it’s lower price right now too. Like, buy and download it but don’t start playing until the patch(es) are out. IF you have a good enough windows PC, that is.

I feel like a lot of horse games, this one included, suffer from not giving horses enough weight in their controls and animations. I enjoy riding in games like Read Dead and BOTW because the horses feel like they have the proper weight applied to them. They don't turn on a dime, their feet feel heavy when they hit the ground, there's more weight and momentum to their animations, it's satisfying. This game is pretty, but the horses feel too stiff and too light.

I can see so much potential in this game! The art style is so pretty, the animals are adorable, and there are so many game mechanics to play with. It seems like there is a ton of content planned for this game, but based on your video and the reviews on steam the game doesn't really seem like it's in a finished state. I think it would have been a lot better for the devs to release it as early access at a discounted price. In the games current state I just can't justify paying $30 for it, but I will say I am very excited to see how it develops and I'll be keeping it wishlisted for the future!

I have played Horse Eden Eventing for years, I wish there was a game like it with breeding for colors and stats, and being able to ride the horse. I like Rival Shores to scratch that itch, but it's not as wide open with color breeding sadly.

Hey Abigail! I have this game on my nintendo switch and it gets better as you go on. You unlock wild horses and you can tame them. I have lots of horses and love playing. At first i was like “I hate this and its weird” but i really love it now. When i first got the game i chose my first horse and its name was dancer. Everyone gets the same horse to pick from when you begin. I love your videos and i am a MASSIVE horse fan. I have so many like breyer horses. Hope you have an amazing day.❤

I really hope it isn’t like star stable where you just run around the map to complete quests, but I really like it so far! I think my.biggest pet peeve is the reins. I HATE when games have reins that just don’t move, so I hope they fix them or we have an option to shorten them later on. I do really like this game though, im going to play a lot today.

Got this game on its release! The controls are the hardest part for me. The map is also huge and it’s so hard to figure out how to get to and from places you’ve never been to before. Lots of potential though!

I played it for a few hours, and yeah - no more backstory for our character. We have no idea who we are, where we are, no hints on where to go. You need to go the exact right way other wise you'll get lost (which happens a lot) Also it basically is an a to b simulator, and there's *no fast travel* It's annoying ;-;

I definitely think this game should have released as an Early Access title. All the bugs and the lack of content/story is a disappointment. I've put almost 30 hours into the game, so I do overall enjoy it, but it needs A LOT of work at this point.

Hard disagree on the UI. I adore it, it's gorgeous instead of dreadfully boring like most game UI. It has a charming and imnersive atmosphere that links it's appearance to that of the game world itself. Rather than feeling like a mere interface, it's a work of art. You don't seem to be very familiar with Harvest Moon style games, which this takes after.

Hi Abigail! There is a game i used to play alllllll the time, its name is GUN. It's a old west game. There are 4 colored horses, some are wild some are already with saddles for you to ride, you don't need to tame the wild ones. you can do side missions and main story missions. While doing the missions you get money and you upgrade your horses strength. The story is awesome. You can upgrade your guns and other weapons to make your character stronger, and you also can shoot from horse back. The game is an open world and you dont have to do the mission right away. I don't want to spoil you anymore, i just hope you see this and try the game out

I've also found many bugs and glitches... Like one where you can sell the horse Silver from the quest over and over to get max money.... 😶 I wonder if anyone else found that. I also fell under the water and got stuck walking around on the bottom of a river. 🤣 Had to go back to my estate. Or if you pet your horse while it's standing at an angle the horse gets stuck like that till you pet it on flat ground again.

I am glad that I canceled the switch version. I saw the trailers and I was really unsure how the switch would be able to handle the game, so on my computer I was sure it would work. Also the switch release was postponed to November 9th. I haven't figured out how to get the Irish cob dlc yet though. Anyway, I was so happy to start the game yesterday evening and after playing for about 2 hours I can say that I really like it and I already love my starter horse Molly 🥰 Yes, the camera is a bit clunky and the art style is not what I am used to but I am looking forward to keep exploring the game 😊

ive played this for a bit now and i just say there is some potential here! Theres a lot to explore and the missions seem to offer variety so far. The crafting is a nice touch along with the reputation/skill/homestead expansions + wild horse taming. However i do have to agree that it seems u get thrown in and its not quite clear how the feeding/grooming work since theres no bar or anything to give u an idea of whether u actually have to do it. Only clear thing is the constant need to pet the horse as soon as the too stressed notification pops up lol again no bar to show u if horse is approaching threshold or not. Not sure yet if frequency of petting will change with higher stat horses or depending on the horse traits but it is currently driving me nuts as it is wayyy too frequent imo. Jumping seems to cause stress too oddly enough so the horse gets too stressed and wont sprint halfway thru a race. Also not clear about clothing/tack change (I guess u have to build stations?) Camera is driving me nuts especially since im using my pc controls and it can be very dizzying even when i turn sensitivity down. I think it messes with the jumping too. Biggest thing im facing atm is my horse stuck in a constant state of overfed so its just slow and i havent fed more than two treats and it wont go away even after a while. I cant do or figure out that sprint tap thing since my horse is stuck being overfed I guess. Have yet to figure out/unlock? anything regarding breeding so that remains to be seen. For horse game ppl like us who are starving for games like these i want to see/encourage helpful feedback. I would hate to see another promising project tank (ive already faced it in the dino/other animal game circles 😔 and theres already few selections to start with)

This looks like a cute horse adventure game! Kinda a making me think about horse club adventures (or something like that) but with farming and better gameplay I would say. I like the fact that you loose yourself in this world and interact with it and the different personalities. I like the horse models! I think they are quite cute😍 I wanted to play it on switch but it seems to be glitchy on that sooo probably gonna have it on PC 😅 I am a bit surprised that it’s not clearly mention when you buy the game that it’s early access, I feel it would be more right, I dont know. but before, I buy it, I would like to see where it’s going, because for what I saw, it’s a farming game with horses and I like this but I also have already a tons of farming games😅 and I don’t see where the horse is adding something more except for transportation and being cute (which are done beautifully btw, great animations and models). It doesn’t give a challenge for your ressources for example. Like you could pick up as much things as you want, you didn’t weight more for the horse and so affecting his stamina or speed or didn’t have limited place so why not a car or a truck instead of horses if the need is just transportation?😅 So if the horse is just that and looking cute I am not sure I would be interested in the game☺️ (so I am voting for part 2 or like video 2 showing the horse aspect to have a full picture of the horse aspect of the game). Don’t get me wrong: HORSES❤ but I bought so many games because of horses and ended up being disappointed because it’s not about the horses or the bond between a rider and the horse or something that you cannot do without a horse but just having a horse doing basic horse video game things. It doesn’t means it’s bad, I am just searching for something more! For exemple if this game happened in the past for example when they weren’t cars and industries, where humans were relying on horses, it would have make so much sense!! It’s quite an easy set up you would say but the need of a horse, even multiple horses would be more strong and clear! But you seem to be in a modern age, so can we have truck and have to do this with horses except for the fact that we like horses and they’re cute ?😌 The character maybe have the ambitions of opening their stables but from the start, I just feel they want to build things more they are interested on horses 😂 and like good for them! Go redo the entire property for the ungreatfull aunt🤣 But then is it a horse game or a farming stimulator game ? Did I just wrote a book ? I think I did🤦‍♀️🤫😅 I am very happy seeing more and more horses in video games as cute as this one 🥰 but after many disappointments with horse games, I don’t feel the urge to buy but the urge to slow myself down🙃 Thank you for the discovery Abi!! ❤ Great video again! I was so excited for this game!! Especially has it was released on the switch too. Unfortunately it’s basically unplayable on the switch which, considering it costs 40.00, is unacceptable! I refuse to buy it on the PC, mainly because in the FB group it feels like we are paying to test the game for them (being asked to send detailed bug reports and recreate issues. Etc) yet never signed up to be a Beta tester and it’s not marked as early access so 🤷‍♀️ Such a shame, I expected better from something Alice was involved in, especially as she spends her life studying other horse games and doesn’t hold back in criticizing them. Anyway, at least I get to watch you play it instead 😂

@@crabbymom8201 I think it’s the price on the switch that’s just irritated me so much! I would be far more relaxed about it if it cost something like15.00-20.00 but it’s priced just under a AAA game. The PC version seems more reasonable whilst it’s on sale. Still not getting it though. I have a gaming laptop and if you are able to save for one then I think you’ll have so many more options! For example, If you can put up with Minecraft’s graphics then there is a mod for it called SWEM, which I think Abigail has spoken about. Still no foals though. If not, there seems to be a few horse games for the PC in the works 😊

I was SO excited for this game and immediately bought and downloaded it when I came home that day. Playing that game for 10min, I had to restart it 3 times, because I was stuck in an endless glitch, first I was walking under water and couldn‘t get up again and then my horse was stuck in the sky, while I was sitting on it, tried jumping or going around but I wasn‘t able to get to the ground again. I am sooo disappointed and waiting for my refund from Sony, because it‘s just NOT playable 😡😞

This game is so much better than the Windstorm 2 game lol Love the BotW aesthetic. If developers don’t have the resources to go for a Rival Stars type look, I would rather them shoot for BotW in terms of stylization and color palette. I probably would have done another pass on that horse model though. The legs look a bit too toothpick-ish and the neck looks a little off at some angles. The colors are a bit over saturated here and there, as mentioned on the chestnut horse, but it fits within the style I think. Definitely a kids game but could entertain an adult for an afternoon I think

I personally love the game, it does give Breath of the wild vibes and I am all here for that. I saw some things that other horse games used in the past and that made me happy to see. I am sorry Abi... I love the UI ''plz don't put me in the basement'' XD Sure the background is a little bit plain but overall I think it looks great and suits the style of the game ♥ Of course as unlucky I am I found a bug with the horse running uphill. Typical my luck XD ♥ ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The GOOD THINGS ABOUT THE GAME: 1. It has a good style that stands out to other horse games that has intresting mechanics like ''ducking & Sliding'' 2. The Intreaction with the horses feel more personal & the horses has different traits, for me it feels different than what I have seen in other horse games. 3. There is som intresting characters on the island. 4. The map is big and there is a lot to explore, typical kind of game you can get lost in hours of just running around. lastly 5. I feel the price of 27 - 30 eurous is a very good price for a game like this :) Note these are my own personal opinions ♥ ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ THE BAD THINGS ABOUT THE GAME: 1. The horses movement feels a litte bit off to me in certain gaits. 2. I am not sure if there is a big story line to this game except that we are gonna help our aunt to rebuild an estate and sadly having an aunt or uncle etc is kinda standard XD 3. I’m okay the game on the switch and it’s nice to just have a chill horse game to play so I’m liking it. However, I don’t recommend getting it for the switch cause it’s super laggy and the visual quality is really bad 😭 I would also love to give the devs some UI tips if I could, such as a clearer way to tell when you’re getting that speed bonus as you’re galloping. A cute game but one that needs some refinement for sure 🐎

There's a bronze box overlooking the beach that gives you 3 a day, up by the wild horses near the Felix Estate! Also, if you go to the guy blocking the Felix Estate gate and go left, follow the path up and there will be a sunplower patch to your right. Hope this helps~

I really like the art style! I think a lot of horse-themed games really let themselves down by going for a realistic art style - it's hard to pull realism in a game off without it looking cheap or uncanny. RDR2 aced this but I would expect such from a company like Rockstar. As much as I think the game is pretty, I don't think I'll pick it up for myself. I think the premise leaves something to be desired and a world that gorgeous and vast really feels lacking without a multiplayer aspect.

I downloaded this game on my switch. It definitely doesn’t run as well and can get really choppy. But that aside, I think the game is really cute and the style is very comforting. I love how big the world is and how even when your done with the quest there’s still more places to explore and I like how in depth the horse caring is. That being said the storyline is very flat and goes nowhere. I was able to finish the main storyline of the game in 3 days. It’s a shame because the world is so huge, you’d think they could incorporate more quests and plot twists. And by the end of the game it leaves a lot of questions unsolved, for example why did our aunt leave a whole rundown estate to a teenager? Overall cute game, lacking in content.

The game is nice and all but the racing component is a rather large part of the game and the worst of all is it's just like SSO racing but much much harder. I am basically stuck in the game right now because the story can't continue if i don't place absolutely first on the leader board. The time to beat is so unrealistic I just cannot make it further that 4th place. The key binding is so jankey that your left hand needs to do 10 different things at once while racing (speed increase and decrease, sprint, jump, ducking and steering). There is also a glitch that when racing the game does not recognize you finishing the 2nd lap so it forces you TO DO A 3RD LAP IN A 2 LAP RACE! Completely screwing up your time even further. It is very confusing in the start and does not get any clearer the more you play. I had high hopes for this game but I am sorry to say I'm quite disappointed so var. There are a lot of bugs and glitches that desparately need fixing. But I'm really glad you are enjoying it.

I recommend using the left hand only for ducking, jumping, A-D and then sprint with left mouse button (just stop pressing for speed decrease), steer as normal with the mouse and use the right mouse button for the sliding. Its easier on your hands.

i knew it since that weird video the dev made about games not being "accurate" to horses and then show a everfree/Barbie horse video game gameplay i was like "nah she is just marketing in a weird way and that is by criticizing other games horses" like there are so many games about horse farm/stables/racing (my favorite one is Alice a korean horse racing game song is super gay i love it!!) that you need to stop and think before saying anything about any game and ask "what is the difference? what makes my horse game special?" which by just looking at the gameplay she really was just talk XDD lol. I say if she wanted to do something different ,more accurate, she would have built a kinda like spirit of the cinmarron where you are either a mare or stallion and you are with your heard and do horse stuff hell you can put fantasy elements like putting all the equines and each race has their own elemental magic but no we have a copy paste of horse farm with bad controls, bad direction(UI) and complicated instructions clearly disorganize see polygon - Why horses are so hard for video games to get right - this is a video that not only criticize other games that has horses but also promotes Horse Tales Emerald Valley with Alice Ruppert ps. Yet again, a horse game that looked very promising and built itself up in the trailer, but in reality it's mostly just a walking sim with (subjectively) pretty graphics. And as far as I know, this isn't even early access. At least the cutscenes have a little heart. Astride is my last hope and it's so so far away, expected to come out in like 2025 😭😭
