This is a very timely release for me, because I've almost finished my current Hourglass face palette which is my second in a row. I love them and use them virtually every day for a quick makeup, so it's a definite yes from me and I don't mind the similar colours because I know that they work for me.

Both palettes look good on you, Erin! I think the lighter palette brightens your face more, but the deeper palette definitely has a place in your makeup arsenal. It’s been years since I purchased an Hourglass palette, and I’m considering purchasing one.

I truly love your content & detailed videos. They're soothing, enjoyable and informative. I haven't purchased every single year - I'm tan skin tone (think Halle Berry) so they options were somewhat limited. But overall, I've purchased 5 total, panned 2. I bought the owl compact with color option 3 because the shades will work for me & they have the newest amount of shades. Both options you used looked lovely on you. I already knew that the deepest color story would look similar on the skin, even though they look like "new" shades in the pan 😒 But I still went ahead and shamelessly bought it anyway 🤦‍♀️ I just couldn't not have at least 1 of them..specially since the customized ones were already selling out. Have to keep telling myself that it's OK cause they won't release another one for a whole year 😂🤷‍♀️ They're really really smart with those beautiful palette covers!!! Hello Lovely Erin. Thank you for the discount code. Hourglass is the one luxury cosmetics brand that I have never purchased from before. I'm actually surprised they bounced back from being canceled after their scandal around the fake deep skin toned palette a few years ago. I have now made my first purchase since it seems to be acceptable to support the brand these days: palette 1 in Owl design and palette 2 in Snake design. I'm excited to try them!

We do a lot of DIY at my house - one day I was moving some drywall, a stack of three 1/2" pieces that were leaning against the wall. I scooted the one I was moving wrong, and the other two fell as I was bending over - the corner of the stack hit me right above my eye, almost right where you have your gash. 😆 I have a scar there, it was a pretty brutal wound at the time!! haha Love the opal powders, thanks so much for the review since we are a skin match!! xoxo ❤

I purchased the darkest colour story and yes the finishing powder has little glitter particles which is so annoying 😏 I don’t know why nobody mentions them 🤷🏻‍♀️ The Dim light finishing powder from last years elephant palette did not have any glitter and that one is in the leopard one as well this year if you want a glitter free option

The finishing powders are pretty luminous, similar to a pressed version of Guerlain meteorites so they are meant to be a light dusting at the end of the makeup and not true setting powders. You have to use them sparingly! xx

The elephant palette from last year is the one I had customized into the tiger packaging so it's the 2022 swatches at 18:25. It's closest to the current Jellyfish palette!

@@ErinNicoleTV is elephant better than jellyfish because I’m still seeing people selling unopened elephants. I wish I now had medium skin. Never knew I’d get lighter as I aged. When I was 20 I was medium with more olive skintone. This light med isn’t working for me. I’m worried the finishing powders in jellyfish are too light. I’m NC25 but I definitely lean warm so I think I like the bronzer in jellyfish better than elephant because I’m worried about the orange tone in elephant. I think hourglass could do a better job of making sure all the shades in one palette go together. I start getting vibes of that ND love eye/face palette that was all over the board as far as which skintone it was best suited for. (I bought both of the previous ones. I passed on love and I can’t wait for this whole Barbie pink thing to be over. The day I saw the new iPhone will be pink I was done. Not Barbie pink but still pink.)

Unpopular opinion: but I don't really like this years palette art. I liked last years better, but also wished they did something different this year. For instance, instead of the animal itself, its fur color/pattern? Perhaps edited into square shapes or circles. Something creative.
