Heyyy!! Today I'm continuing with our Budget Home Refresh & doing some furniture flipping on a dresser that I found on Facebook Marketplace for only $50!! It threw me off a bit and we encountered hiccups for sure, but it turned out beautiful & covered the scratches & gouges in it, and gave it new life! I also found some stunning accent chairs for our living room & did a little home decor spruce up around the house to finish things off! The dresser does look better totally painted. I really like that Dixie Bell paint you used. I think this dresser you painted looks better in that guest bedroom than the other one.

Amanda ~ First of all - You look great!! Second of all - I have never flipped a piece of furniture & certainly not in front of an audience as you have done so successfully many times...so PLEASE don't ever feel stupid - you are far from it! I wanted to be sure to let you know how important & motivating it is to see the actual process of flipping furniture in all it's glory as well as when, as you say, you have to pivot! lol! You sharing these hiccups, as you also say - lol!, makes it so relatable - especially for those of us who may want to try - so we don't freak out if it doesn't go the way we expect it to! Being able to see how you handle your expectation not being met is so helpful. And look how pretty that piece turned out! I think the brass handles add that perfect special touch!

I love the way the chest-of-drawers turned out! I can understand your disappointment, since I also enjoy seeing the wood grain. But sometimes paint is necessary. And in using paint, you gave the chest-of-drawers a new life! I also think you should keep it in the guest room, since it adds such a special touch, now that you painted it.

There’s a product named re tique it Xo Macenna uses it on a vanity in her bathroom it totally looks like wood when complete when the original s only a veneer. Watch one of her videos to see

First, I want to say I am so glad you put the picture of you guys in the frame you did. It is a unique frame that draws the eye, perfect for your picture. Secondly, don't feel bad about having to paint that dresser. Antique pieces can carry off the "battle scars of life " look, but, some pieces just need new life breathed into them and if you're satisfied with the outcome it doesn't matter what others think or say. Better redone than landfill filler.

Totally agree! This wasn’t one of those beautiful antiques that tell a story, the veneer wood was pretty, but with all the dings and scratches and gouges. The paint really did give second life 💗

Love what you ended up with doing to the dresser! Those brass handles really suit it. I think it is too large for the guest room, where you put it. The other one is a better size. Love the new lounge room chairs. So glad you put the photo of you and Karl in the arched frame. IMO the arched frame needs to be where the square frame is with those sweet little containers you found! Love your style, Amanda!

The dresser looks fabulous, sad that it didn’t work out quite how you wanted it but it turned out great. The larger dresser will give more space for guests to put their clothes etc and possibly store spare bed linen/ towels in the bottom drawers xx 😘

Amanda, I love the dresser in the guest room. I might get rid of the shelves above it and place a mirror or art. For the living room I agree with you about the coffee table. It needs to be a different color. Maybe search for paint that can be painted over any finish furniture and transforms it into wood with wood grain. I saw XO, Macenna doing something like that for her main bathroom few months ago and it looked beautiful. LOVE THE CHAIRS and they look great where you placed them.

Love the dresser!!! ❤ There are two thoughts I have about you living room. Well, first it’s really perfect but when you put that aside, everything is very rectangular. I would put a large round coffee table to break it down. The other thing that is taking from cosiness for me are the glass shelves. I would try to replace them with raw wood or even painted shelves, just to see the difference. But your living room is great no matter what!!! ❤

Well I know you are sitting on pins and needles to hear from me today. First I loved that dresser so much. It reminded me of some art deco. Love the color you picked. I would however if you can find some dark cooper paint I would paint around the bottom of the top. It seems to be a narrow open space and I think it would just add that pop to the piece. Keep it in the guest room. Perfect place for it. Now the new chairs really add a different vibe to the living room. Like the idea to make couches higher. I love the size of the coffee table so I feel a paint brush calling you. As far as the chairs you replaced get some covers for them. Put one in your oldest bedroom and the other one in the guest room. Amanda I know it will hit you what to do because you never fail to impress me. Hi Amanda, I love the dresser as it was, yet I love the way it looks now. It doesn't matter if it's veneer. Maybe just maybe you could've bought wood color pencils and color over the areas where the varnish peeled. If it had been my piece, that is what I would've done. I love antique look wood. That is just me. Love what you did with it, though. I am looking forward to future videos of transforming other people's homes.
