This is so cute 🥰 Just one thing with the candle thing above the cat's food: many fragrances contain natural or artificial essential oils. These are highly poisonous for cats and even small amounts can cause liver damage over time. I don't know if you have a cat-safe option, but if not, please consider to remove it. I hope you don't take this the wrong way, I just know many vets who regularly have to deal with this, because many people are not aware of that. Much love 🥰

This is true! Not only for cats by the way. My mum once made the mistake to put a few drops of tea tree oil on our dog's neck to kill off lice. She figured it had always helped when she put a few drops in the hoodies of our coats, and it was natural, so she could always try. The dog ended up becoming ill. Luckily she survived, but I was so angry with my mum!

@@LanaVegana that's true. Though dogs usually have a much much higher tolerance than cats (or ferrets, I have ferrets :D ). If anyone's interested: the reason for this is the complete lack of the enzyme UDP-Glucuronyltransferase in the liver of cats and ferrets (in cats, the corresponding gene is defect, ferrets just don't produce it for whatever reason). Dogs do have that enzyme, but in smaller quantities than humans. It's an enzyme carnivores usually don't need. It's also responsible for breaking down acetaminophene and that's the reason why you should never ever give your pets paracetamol. I'm glad that your dog pulled through 🍀

Just a thought, you could paint that entire wall behind Shaaba's sofa a gold color, to coordinate with the footstool. It would also make that wall recede a bit and could set off a number of your accessories, including the lamp. Also, never apologize for the size of the TV! With COVID especially, a big TV is a great thing, you can have a little comfy cinema in your house.

Pro tip: if a cat has chosen a particular space to use as their litter box, give them a litter box there. At least then they won't be ruining the floors. You're pretty much guaranteed not to convince them to stop going there.

Related tip: once you place this new litter box, if it's in a weird spot, you can move it a little bit each day towards a better location with little risk of them re-soiling the original problem area (if you move it slowly enough).

When I furnished my place, I got two Labrador puppies not long after who would jump up on either side of my cherry colored coffee/central work table while playing. My strategy with preventing cats scratching what they shouldn't - put a scratch post near the thing they scratch on as a better alternative. Since my cats like to hang out in any room I spend a lot of time in I always make sure I have 1 scratch thing in those rooms. It doesn't have to be a post - I like the 'leaning' cat scratcher - I usually lay it flat on the floor so the cats can hop on it like they would on the back of prey (if your cat prefers to scratch on the carpet), less of an option if there isn't a lot of floor space since it can be a tripping hazard. A post or some other vertical configuration if they're scratching on baskets or furniture.

You might consider adding an extra litter box. Cats like to feel like they can mark common spaces. Rule of thumb is you need 1 per kitty PLUS one other box 🐱 2 cats = 3 boxes

Your house is beautiful. In regards to the cat using some place other than the litter box, have you used a spray or solution that dissolves the crystals in cat urine so that they cannot smell where they previously went? It oftentimes stops them from making a habit of going outside the box.
