I'd take down the wall between the kitchen and the dining room and the hall and the dining room and expand the kitchen into the dining room. It would make an awsome open plan mailroom. How exciting for you!

Sorry to ramble on and on, but this tour brings back a lot of memories. My childhood best friend lived in a split level quite similar. Same entry with banister, and three stairs to the right to the living room with big front window. Dining was in the same place, although the partition wall ran parallel with the front window wall instead of toward it, the upper level stairs just across, the kitchen on behind the dining just the same, and the stairs down to a bonus room off the kitchen. They had a back deck off of that room with a pool. Main difference being the half bath and laundry were on either side of the upper level stairs, so the bonus room was long and ran all the way to the entry hall, and instead of a coat closet, there was an office there off of the entry hall. The upper level looks like what I remember, the twin bedrooms had a funny little sliding access door in the wall between them, master had the walk-in closet and bathroom. No basement, just a ground level garage off the bonus. So there was a bunch of useless info you didn't need, but yeah this house is so familiar. I like the layout of these, and until now I hadn't seen another one quite like it.

Love it!! My first thought when you started the tour was Yay carpets!! I actually miss carpets in homes... I know they're not popular anymore, and are hard to keep clean, but they add so much coziness! We just bought a new home in March and the hardwood floors are always cold, so we may have to spring for some rugs or something. Kind of jealous of your bedrooms with carpets, stepping out of bed onto a nice cushiony floor! :)
