Iberia has been a wonderful place for finding new spinosaurs, and a look at a found revealed its totally new, and not an already described species.

I think you made a mistake because the Spinisaurus holotype was destroyed in 1944 and not in the 90s. And I think I would have noticed if the Allies had bombed us in '94. But still great Video :)

Yep absolutely a slip up I didn't catch on final watch through. I'm out of the house at Petrified Forest so my wife had to stream the edited video to me, and I just missed the audio there.

Thanks for giving us Spaniards in Spain and, like me, in the USA, a full video on our new Dinosaurio Espanol. I almost hoped the thumbnail would have fossilized castanets and our traditional church Mantilla, the tall head cover mantle that looks like our of Dune's Benne Gesserit's.

Man. It's so surprising to me that there were this many spinosauridae out there coexisting with each other. They must have been incredibly successful at what they'd been doing if they were diversifying this much in such a "short" time. Crazy to me how many genera we're getting out of (especially) europe and north africa. Even more perplexing how fast they disappeared.
@RaptorChatter

Coexisting is hard to say. They mostly come from different ages of rocks, but there seems to have been multiple lineages through time, meaning some of them certainly did interact with one another at times.

Isn’t ‘spinosaurine’ more specific than ‘spinosaurid’? If I’m not mistaken, I think you may have switched the two.

Hi, my 15 yr old has a question. Triceratops VS Trex one of the most famous animal fights, paleontologist have found triceratops fossils that were bitten by trex. Have it ever been found a trex fossil being killed by a triceratop one on one?
@RaptorChatter
@RaptorChatter 7 ай бұрын
No, and it's not likely. Very few injuries like that are likely to be found in the fossil record, because that kind of devastating injury would likely kill or limit movement of the animal pretty severely, preventing it from moving to somewhere that preservation is going to be more likely.

New (another very fragmentary and named mostly for media attention) Iberian spinosaur found!
@RaptorChatter
@RaptorChatter 7 ай бұрын
It's still important for undersatnding their diversity. And adding any data to the limited amount there is for spinosaurs is still useful. It's not like media attention brings in money for the researchers
@Fede_99
@Fede_99 7 ай бұрын
@@RaptorChatterMedia attention surely can bring something beneficial like funding. Also there's absolutely no need to name every fragmentary taxon when they're also barely diagnostic. They just could do like when they described but didn't name that spinosaurid said to be the largest found in Europe so far.

The formations just aren't great for preservation. Also a lot of stress on many of the rocks when the Pyrenees rose. there still may be places with better fossils though, they just may not have been found yet

Those also all have a ton of land area. It would be more comparable for each of those to be compared to all of Europe, which I would say is fairly similar in overall fossils being found.

Bro hasn't heard from Las Hoyas, El Montsec, Tremp and Lo Hueco. Please educate yourself, this is the same as saying Brazil has fragmentary species when they have some of the best preserved fossils in the world ( see Santana group).
