I kind of want to see Clint "design" some fantasy creatures based off of real-life animal anatomy. Or Re-Design some that could be better, or simply make more sense with more realistic features, despite their magical or supernatural nature. (I like Birds that have those Carpal Spurs, or claws used for climbing, and have a single "Snow Owl" Harpy character from D&D (Based on the Aarakokra race) that has them for when Flight is not an option, or not easy. Also used as a thumb to grasp things when needed, but she mostly uses her feet.)

I'm a retired commercial graphic designer and graphic artist. I'm sure that artist DID actually reference a real duck skeleton. I'm also pretty confident that the artist took the concept to the people who commissioned it, and was told to add most of the weird stuff. I personally have a collection of works that never went into my portfolio, and instead fell into the category of "It wasn't my fault." I can't pick a single skeleton as "the worst." They were all pretty bad. But while the snail is anatomically hilarious, I find it visually pleasing. I kinda want one. I also want one of those skeletal pumpkins. I think my corn snake would love to climb around on it.

you also have to make it cheap to produce, so having stuff like ulna and radius being separate bones just automatically adds thousands of dollars to the production cost because now you can no longer use a two part mold to make the whole leg in one go 🤷♀
@almightyshippo11972 ай бұрын
I've dabbled in graphic design enough to completely agree. You give them accuracy, they give you a list of notes on how to screw it up. Sometimes, as someone else mentioned, it might be a manufacturing requirement, and I get it. Doing certain things because of the imitations of the equipment is normal, and artistic vision sometimes needs to make room for whatever medium gets used. But then they want to change the looks in ways that make no sense, and since they are the client it's ultimately up to them. Give them what they want, then move on, and pretend it never happened. lol
@ThyriaSharin2 ай бұрын
@@almightyshippo1197 Exactly. It's incredibly frustrating, but the job is to give the client what they want, not what you think is best. And the limitations of the manufacturing method and materials are absolutely an issue you have to deal with. It's always a compromise.

@@almightyshippo1197 While the first is understandable, you have to work with efficiency when creating something. The whole idea of you making something great and some idiot saying make it look more "real" while making it look less real just irritates me. I'd almost say you should keep your horror folder to make sure you can put those next to the original designs to show how much better a thing could have been. 32:42 Schleich toys! I work at a local toy store, and they're one of my favorite things that we sell. They're high quality, and meant to be as realistic and lifelike as possible(supposedly even the footprints of some of the ones like dinosaurs are accurate). Very interesting about the "fingers" being wrong on their model! I would love to figure out if we could reach out to our contact there and let them know lol. They make a ton of different models, but I think analyzing their dinosaur ones would be a rly interesting video, especially because those are the ones they tend to make the largest(FYI they're pronounced like Sh-like) :)

The very wrong snails do raise an interesting creepy question: Snails mostly make their own shell, but some crabs and such will,I think, move into a shell that they find, yes? Could any animal find a human skeleton and decide to walk off in a human skull? It's kind a cool idea, but I'd assume most would be looking for protection without quite so many big holes and gaps in it.
@GaryDunion2 ай бұрын
I've never seen such a thing but yes it sounds very plausible to me that when push comes to shove a hermit crab would prefer a skull, holey though it is, to no shell at all. Although I don't think in real life they get big enough to use even the smallest human skull. An animal I _could_ see using a human skull for protection is an octopus, they're pretty imaginative in putting things they find to good use, and definitely pick up things like large bivalve shells to use as armour.
@05MatzАй бұрын
@@GaryDunion Maybe a coconut crab, before it outgrows the use of shells altogether? I think the young ones pick up shells like regular hermit crabs, until they develop to the point of not fitting any more? But I might be wrong about that.

Don't even get me started on inaccurate animal skeletons 😤 At the start of the year I took up the hobby of crocheting plushies, so I've been in JoAnn a lot recently for yarn. And right now, the first thing you're smacked in the face with when you walk in the door are the animal skeletons... The skeleton pony has a freaking mane and tail!!!?? Why?! And they all have ears! 😫 I think I'll have to do all my yarn shopping online until Halloween is over 😑

I would really love to see a dedicated video on Pterosaurs. They're really interesting because they are one of 3 vertebrate lineages to achieve powered flight. I wanna know about their early evolution. Their phylogeny and diversity across the Mesozoic and why they didn't survive the end Cretaceous mass extinction when some birds did.

Realistically, that snail “skeleton” is absolutely horrible. Artistically, however, that is one of THE coolest things I have ever seen! I'm an artist and I like making things that aren't really, specifically, I'm currently working on a series where I surround mythological and monstrous women in their favorite things (I have an extraterrestrial woman and a dwarven woman painted in a 3d environment of line doodles [like Zentangle™️] and hydrangeas respectively, in my yt shorts if your interested in seeing them) that I call _Wondrous Women With Their Treasured Things._ So I've seen my share of crazy skeleton art (pretty sure most of which occur near Hallowe'en, on your channel lol) and that snail is probably my favorite of the nearly unimaginably inorganic “animal” skeleton imaginings. If someone told me it was a cryptid, I'd believe them, being cryptids aren't real either lol, because it's so very well designed.
