Enjoyed this video. Brings back a lot of memories from the past. Have picked many hundreds of acres with a one row picker.

Spent many hours in the back of the wagon as my grandpa picked corn with a 2 row New Idea mounted picker on a Farmall M . I can remember the smell of the fall air while picking corn .

Helped some folks from back out by German town road ( Portsmouth Ohio ) back around 80-81 . They had a 2 header and a J&M cart for the corn we took it by the ear and it went to the corn crib for feed for the cattle they had . Also did some Tobacco hot beds plowing and planting while I was there . Great people , I would say it was a lot of fun but more like a lot of work and it was .. Lot of work he he .

Yep, used to rush home from school to get to ride the wagon and level the corn . Would hop off at the fence row and eat a belly full of wild grapes.

If you think a single row picker would take a long time how much longer would it be by hand?

It's good. BTW Why are you using a Corn picker machine; when we have an advanced Combine harvester machine? I mean I wish to know pro and cons behind using them. Thank you!

The rollers may be to close together causing it to cut stalks before picking corn.

Hi friend. It did pretty good. I grew too many plants, though, and did not have a customer base to buy them. I've been working on that and hopefully will have better luck next spring.

A piece of advice if you're going to pick very much look around and get yourself a good 323 excuse me a good 324 or 325 two row we have found here that the two road does way better than our last two 323 singles did I believe it has to do with the varieties of corn that we are raising in this day and age they lend themselves to be picked with a head that is more level like a combine and less sloped the snapping rolls on the two row new idea are more level more similar to a combine than what you find on the old singles I went to two row and I almost never stop that's 26,500 plants to the acre and good corn and we can run 3 mph much much less frustrating we are on wide Rose for 324 does a wonderful job run circles around the old 323s I wish you the best

One thing about a 1row picker,you don't have to worry about row spacing.

How many acres can you pick in one day with no breakdowns or trouble?
@timhenslee10253 жыл бұрын
Lots of variables,Do you have someone to run and empty wagons ,how close is the ,field to the farmstead,Row spacings,corn yields,old style picker or a super picker?Is the field opened up if you have a pull type picker. One row or two. A run row will pick 2/3 of what a two row will do per the dealer.It's been a while but in normal good conditions,one row 7-10 acres little bit more with a two row depending.Figure about an hour picking corn then an hour unloading, again depending on the variables.

Truth was that he had not had enough time with the picker to get it "shined up" and the rollers and snapping shields adjusted. Once he got everything working right he should have been able to move along at about 3 to 3.5 mph. He was still in low gear here.
