When my dishwasher drain line clogged, I was glad I used wago's to install it. Had to uninstall/reinstall it a few times troubleshooting and the wagos made it way easier on my fingers.

Appreciate the good pro/con summary of each option. Great to see more options for these lever nuts from quality suppliers that have all the safety certifications. Those super cheap amazon knock offs are scary - no certifications, don’t know what you are getting. Ok maybe for low voltage applications. I still like Wago the most. The compact size, construction and feel of the action just seems highest quality and easiest to use. I don’t use these enough to need to worry about small cost differences and I really like the smaller mix packs Wago sells. Sometimes you just don’t know which ones you will need until you get into the wall or ceiling of existing installations. Harbor Freight has a decent $10 mix pack, but are larger than Wago for the same AWG range. Wire nuts are great for the trained pro, but these lever nuts give us homeowners a safe, reliable, compact, and quick option for simple jobs like ceiling lights and outlet replacements. I can’t imagine how I’d safely tackle a 5 wire junction application without these lever nuts - and yes I’ve used a couple of those. Thanks for another great video. Your videos are always a good investment of my time- to the point, no click bait, focus on useful content.

@@yankeed4793 you are welcome. Yeah I think it’s definitely a better option for people putting stranded/solid together that don’t do it often. I come across those all the time with a wire nut that are not together all the great when I go pulling on wires. Thanks for the kind words 👍

Thanks for the good review. I'm still a wire nut guy but I have a box of wago connectors. After your review I will probably lean towards the Ideals. Cool idea about using these for testing & troubleshooting.

@@terryburton8072 I probably use them for that more than anything other than lights… and anything that’s going to be temporary. I’d rather use a Wago that twist/untwist/twist.

When ur eyeball deep in diagnostic work, lever nuts rule. For stranded wire lever nuts rule.

Over my years as working electrician, I've replaced/repaired too many of the old wagos. In lightning connections, they are fine. But I would not trust them in any near full load situations. I like they are easier to see through. It would be interesting to see how they discolor before failure. I have even seen the industrial version of the wagos fail. And it is not pretty

@@ElectroAtletico mine didn’t have them in store either. They had the 12awg Wagos, but none of the 10. I was just going to order the Ideal but decided to get a small pack of Wagos for curiosity. I had to order both, but hopefully they will be in store soon.

What is the most amperage the Ideal or Wago can handle ?? Can they handle a 30 amp load typical of a 10ga circuit using a 30 amp breaker ?

@@cndream1 the side of the Wagos says 450v / 41A on the 10AWG size, the smaller say 450v / 32A I don’t see anything but 600v on the Ideal. I will have to check the box later. That’s what they say… I personally haven’t tested them

I bought a box of assorted Wagos, and haven't replaced a fixture since! How weather-resistant are they compared to wire nuts? Could they be used where thermostat wire connects at an outdoor condensing unit? The ability to insert test leads without taking the connection apart seems like a great feature for HVAC guys. How is it that I beat MattHmm here today?

Matt was doing emergency roof work ugg. People offered stupid money for a one and done day im recovering. I dont think wagos with a hole in the front is weather resistant no more than a wire nut and a issue that would be better solved with a watertight connector. The fluke t6 1k pro has reducted my need for test leads into wagos or wire nuts unless its resistance. Way for us to be lazy i guess.

Final not comming apart any time soon wire nuts win. Temp and lighting circuts I have no issue with wagos especially the 16 or 18g stranded that comes on modern light fixtures. I buy my wagos in 50 and 100 packs in bulk at supply houses or online and its brings the price way down. I could care less about the price difference 10 cents here 20 cents there leads you to how cheap electricians sound. I use smart boxes and adjustable depth boxes vs cheap nail on's cost me a dollar a box more yes but at least i can service and remove them with ease. Ill trade material cost for ease of installation any day within reason. You can always use cheap wire nuts now saves a buck lol. Beyond the money if they were in a shop id buy a box of ideals and try them. I dont think id ever come across a 22g wire in a years time so that tiny thing shouldn't be on my radar in residential at least. I did get hands on time with the HF clones and thought they pulled out a little too easily and no cost savings basically. My HD has little and big bags of wagos I guess im lucky? In the end I think its worth a try if you want and if you like them use them (including the wago vs wirenut debate). I really only deal with 12 14 16(stranded) on a daily basis maybe a dryer 10g but at that point unless it was a light or temp setup I wouldn't use a wago on such things.

Theu have a ideal section left of the front door all kinds of stuff. Platt has a gigantic in store selection of knipex that you can actually try out hands on too jealous much? I'll check this week if there's a jug (probably 100 bucks they don't sell small quantities). My 3m tan/red wire nuts come 1000s at a time poor wallet.

@@JustinSparkable I like using them for sure. Even the newer receptacles going around kind have this style in the side. I’ve had some guys tell me they would never use them… wire nuts only! Then a few of those still use the push ins in the back of a receptacle 🤷‍♂️ Anything new you haven’t used is always hard to accept, especially if what you have been using works.

Thoes old timers have done it the same way for 100 years! If its not broke dont fix it bla bla. Not everything new is good (lp siding aluminum wiring cpvc polly tube speed wire aka backstabs) but gotta keep the door cracked in your mind to new stuff.

Backstabs were fine for the first 5 years no one could have known other than lab testing that they were gonna be a nightmare as they age. Agreed best to just be cautious ⚠️.
