New in Mandelbulb3D v1.91 | The Bulb Tracer and MutaGen Modules

This is an Introduction to two of the main additions in the latest version of Mandelbulb3D as Coded by Andreas Maschke (Thargor6).
The Bulb Tracer Module which you can use to create 3D Mesh objects for use in 3D Compositing using a 3D Graphics software or a 3D capable Compositing and Effects software such as Fusion.
And the excellent MutaGen Module which allows for unlimited Mutations to be created from a simple base set of parameters.
MutaGen is a great tool to use to help figure out cool combinations of formulas to use. This can be particularly useful for a beginner who has little or no idea of what formula creates what kind of shapes etc.

Thanks for the tutorial but you just zoomed 3 steps ahead by having the image open already, how do you import an obj my mandelbulb always has errors with 0ing issues. Any ideas?

When I click Generate mesh.. I get an Error. "E/A-Fehler 103." And the progress bar stops at around 75%. Anyone run into this?

Awesome tutorial, thanks! However, i've got one problem :/ Everytime i hit 'Generate Mesh', an 'I/O error 103' message pops up, only parts of the mesh have been generated and it won't be exported. Maybe one of you encountered the same problem and could help me.

Glad you liked it! 👍 I don't know what that error message means but my guess would be one of two things... 1) The 3D item(s) you're trying to create a mesh from is ogically impossible or too dense/complex to adapt to a mesh. Try reducing iterations etc. 2) Similar to point 1 above... Settings or shapes are to computationally intensive and your computer is running out of RAM or similar. I'm not sure what it might be but you can try simplifying things further and see if that helps. Make sure you use the latest version too... This video is a bit old now LOL 😂! Finally, join the Facebook Community and ask there... The "Mandelbulb Maniacs" group is probably your best option! 😎 Happy Fractaholics everywhere! 😉

Do you know if there is any plans for updates to the software? New functionalities? Also, have you tried any other fractal software that has functions that mandelbulb doesnt have?

Marius VanDamme There are a few other similar software out there, a quick Google will find you some like Mandelbulber etc. There's also JWildfire which I strongly recommend! See my other tutorials for an idea of the 2D functionality, there are also 3D features in there these days! Updates to MB3D may be available eventually but I'm not sure exactly how that is going currently. 😎

I love mandelbulb, its an amazing software. Using the bulb tracer as we speak, rendering out a mesh with a resolution of 1000. Looks like it might take 15 minutes. I just wanted to see if there is some other software with other useful functions i might have missed. Gonna check out your videos on JWildFire.

Thanks for your tutorial ! But i got a problem sometimes mandelbulb bug when a i do some rendering, maybe because about the high volumetric resolution but it does around 700 already. Sometimes a deutch message who say "not enough ram" I dont understand i have a great computer as a gtx970, i7 and 16 gigas ram, do you know what happens ?

Yes and No... The animation of a mesh can easily be done in another software such as Blender or in my case... Fusion! To create a mesh for every frame of animation inside Mandelbulb 3D would be very time consuming and is not automated...

+FlinkDimensions Thanks. I checked it yesterday and yes only solution i've found was to do it frame by frame... Nightmare. How do you animate in Fusion or any other soft because as soon as you generate a decent mesh it tends to be heavy geometry so not easy to play with millions of polys?

+Peter Wolf One suggestion I have for you is that you join the facebook group "Mandelbulb Maniacs" and ask for help there... That's where I saw some peeps discussing using a special compile on the Mac and using Vine or something similar to run it. Best of luck buddy! 😀

Mandelbulb 1.91 is running on Wine for me. I think there are a couple of bugs once in a while, but it mostly just works fine.
