Glad to see you again Nerdy! Greetings from Poland!

Great video! Noticed you did yaw test on the ground to show Artificial Horizon does not move with lateral g. Looking forward to more flight videos. Your setup is most realistic and functional❤

Thanks bud! Yes, this panel is of another league! The former "rc-gauges" display never received the necssary fw-update to make the horizon work, so to me that was kind of an eye sore and a bit of an immersion breaker, belive it or not lol. Good fpv times are ahead! :)

Love it! Land in Angle mode !
@NerdyFpv4 ай бұрын
Thanks man! I landed in Horizon mode. Have you experienced better handling in Angle mode? I`m a bit curious which flight mode would be the best allround option actually. I have tried acro, but I don't like the feedback even though its tuned with autoune.. I like self leveling modes since those return the plane to level flight when sticks are released(almost like LOS planes without flight controllers). Manual mode was out of the question in these winds at least.

@@NerdyFpv I have had many white knuckle landings . So now I come in to the glide slope in ACRO. When all lined up and about 20 feet off the deck I hit angle and flaps and ease the bitch down with mostly rudder if I can 🙂

You need to adjust mavlink settings, to make you panel feedback faster)

Interesting obsevation. I didn't notice much latency myself, but is there a specific parmeter you noticed latency in? It's taking data from a uart and MSP, so not sure if thats related to mavlink settings(pardon my ignorance)?. But would be good to know if there is something I can tweek in the settings. Cheers!

This is getting the MSP data. I'm actually working on an update to speed this up. Right now it spends most of the time waiting for the data to come over the UART. I'm making changes so it will collect the data at the same time the screen is being drawn.

Wooo! this is very cool! What a great view. My girlfriend thought it was real haha. How does it process all the data here? Is that from the flight controller?
@NerdyFpv2 ай бұрын
It comes with it's own Arduino style board that takes the data from your flight controller(MSP) and displays it on the panel. Have a read at fpvtoys.net Cheers!

@@NerdyFpv thanks! And oh no! When I try to access the website, it won't let me. Is there a better website link? Thanks again!!

Great Video!! I admire your skill in setting up the tiny screen in the cockpit. Does it have any practical purpose when FPV flying, it sure looks very cool. I did not get if you were flying FPV or LOS on this flight. Flying FPV, when loitering in RTH, I quit my goggles and land LOS. And as the other guy said, " I come into the glide slope in ACRO. When all lined up and about 20 feet off the deck, I hit angle and flaps and ease the bitch down".

@@springpilot Thanks man! With this plane I'm trying to achieve maximum "immersion" meaning the illusion of being onboard your own little aircraft. So with this display the goal is to have as few on screen display items active in my goggles as possible, and instead use the instrument panel to read flight data like speed altitude, attitude, distance etc like in real life. So it's very practical for me when flying fpv. The reason I still have the same OSD elements in goggles as on the screen for now are for testing purposes. But I will remove data from the OSD when done. When I'm done I think the only active OSD elements will be battery voltage, amperage, cell voltage and possibly flight mode. This flight was FPV only where I took off, flew and landed FPV👍 That's also part of the immersion😃 I actually find it easier to take off and land FPV than LOS, it's way more intuitive for me anyways🙂

Just got my pat tritle kit! Do you have a build log for your super cub? Super excited to get this going
@NerdyFpv4 ай бұрын
Well not a full build log from me, but there is a great thread in RCgroups that Pat Tritle himself started. It has a lot of great photos and intel on this model. I have posted some info and photos on page 15 in that thread. www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?1763444-Brand-New-60-Super-Cub/page15 I would also higly reccomend reading the article from Pat in Model Air Plane News. www.modelairplanenews.com/piper-pa-18-super-cub-construction-article/ I learned a lot building it! It's my first kit plane. Since it's a so called "short kit" I spent quite some time sourcing balsa etc. But once you have all the materials, it was pretty straight forward even for me with very little build experience. The most challenging part for me was making a "washout" in the wings(helps with stall charecteristics). Had to build a special rig to set it right with the jury struts securing the washout, but Pat Tritle has drawings for this also. I found them free online somewhere. Antother thing to mention is that if you plan to put in fpv gear and a 3s power system, it might be a good idea to strengthen the "wing box". I have a photo on page 15 on how I did mine. Lastly if a jury strut comes loose in flight several people have snapped their wings off and crashed, so make sure to find ways to lock them in. There are also photos of this in the thread. So head on over to rc groups and have a little read. And feel free to post further questions there since it's easier to send photos etc. It´s an old thread but a lot of helpful people there. Good luck and enjoy your build! :)
