Thank you very much Sean, for another great tutorial. The new Infinity Color Mask tools are an awesome addition to the TK7 Actions Panel. They provide so much finer control over using range masks. Tony Kuyper continues to refine my favorite tool set to perfection. Thank you and Tony once again for your much appreciated efforts. 👍🏼

I love the TK panel and use it very often. However, I don't see the advantage of the new color masks over color range selection in PS with adjusted fuzziness and mask density. After all, the update allows getting the color range mask in the TK 7 panel for further adjustments. I tested both methods with a couple of files and got virtually identical results. But maybe I am just not sensible enough to appreciate the difference. ;-)
@evertking15 жыл бұрын
Yeah, im guessing that TK7 is using the color range function to get this done.

Check out Tony’s video I link to He explains how this feature works and the advantages it has over the regular PS color range tool.

The "Choose" button in the original TK7 panel did use Photoshop's Select > Color Range menu item for "Sampled Colors". The Choose button definitely no longer uses this method, though. Here's how the new infinity color masks are made per my recent blog post: "When creating an infinity color mask, the Color Picker eyedropper extracts the hue value of the selected pixels to build the mask around. The saturation levels of that hue in the image then determines the brightness of the mask." In terms of advantages, on screen-size images you might not always be able to tell the difference between adjustments made through PS's Select > Color Range masks and infinity color masks, but, when you look at images at actual prints sizes, the differences start to show. Infinity color masks will have smoother blending edges and will have generally selected the chosen color better. Additionally, infinity color masks are usually easier to make. You don't have work with fuzziness slider trying to find the right balance between smooth edges, selecting all the appropriate areas of color, and avoiding selection pixelation. Infinity color masks just naturally get the selection process right. It's also worth noting that the actual single-color selections in the Select > Color Range dialog (Red, Green, Blue, Cyan, Magenta, Yellow from the drop down menu) ARE much better masks than that tool's "Sampled Colors" masks. These single-color masks are easy to make and result in very smooth blending edges. Unfortunately, they only come in six colors, so they are somewhat limited. And (ha, ha, ha), guess what? They are actually identical to infinity color masks for these specific hues. Yes, that's right. These single-color masks in Select > Color Range are actually infinity color masks. Adobe built this capability in to Select > Color Range, but only for these six colors. Infinity colors masks extends this capability to the entire spectrum of color . . . and infinity color masks allow for brightness and transition zone feathering adjustments that these single-color masks don't offer.

Thank you for clarifying this issue. Since I seldom prepare print-size photographs, I may have overlooked the difference.

I also love that after you create the mask the brushes also turn back to black and white. In the older version It would leave the brushes grey or some other weird colors.

HI Sean, tks for the video.However, I am still confused what is the difference between this Infinity color masks and photoshop color range.
@SeanBagshaw4 жыл бұрын
They are definitely similar, but they select color differently. I find that it can make smoother and more precise color masks than Color Range, although I do still use Color Range quite a bit for certain things. The best thing is to try both Color Range and Infinity Color Mask on different colors in your images and compare them so you can see the difference. Also, check out these videos by Tony Kuyper kzbin.info/www/bejne/g4vEm2uqq8esqac kzbin.info/www/bejne/eWKXl6uqpNSEsK8

Sean, I am hoping that you can help me with a problem I am having with the infinity color mask in TK7. When I click 'choose' and select a color then click okay my image comes up as a completely black layer. When I toggle the I/M button it goes to the mask created but as soon as I make an adjustment on the mask it defaults back to a black layer when I should be seeing the image. I also noticed that when I use the 'create' color mask the sliders are not making a change to the mask. Everything else seem to be working fine in my TK7. Perhaps this is a question for Tony
@SeanBagshaw4 жыл бұрын
Hi Bonnie - This may be due to a bug in PS. Tony made fixes so the bug wouldn't affect the panel a while back, so simply re-downloading and installing the panel would give you those fixes. If that doesn't do the trick then definitely a question for Tony. If you can find your original download link in your email you can simply download from there to get the update. Otherwise you would need to contact Tony to have him send you a new link.

Hello Sean, I have been using TK7 for some time now. But getting confused with few things. How do we delete remaining layer masks after using Lights TP ot Darks TP on tk7?? Because yesterday after editing a panorama i was trying to save it and the system was showing the message that the files exceed 2 GB limit. I was totally stuck and had to flatten the image. Pls guide on it. Thanks in advance.

Priyanka P use the X button on upper right of RapidMask Module. Or go into the RapidMask menu (click the TK Icon) and check “keep channels panel clean” to auto delete them.
