I found you channel looking for stuff about Pioneer Village. Some things from my grandpas general store are in P.V. I love the yard walks. It takes me back to when I was in my early 20's in the mid 1980'sand was doing auto body for a little buy here-pay here on South Broadway in Denver. The owner was a Pearl Harbor survivor. He would buy insurance wrecks and me and a couple other guys would rebuild them for resale. I would go to the local Denver salvage yards every day looking for parts. It takes me back to a time when I was young. I love seeing the old cars. I remember all of them.

What you have is the 7.3 Navistar IHC, diesel with the mechanical injection pump. The last year or so before the Power stroke, Ford offered an optional turbo charger, in answer to the after market units sold by Banks turbo kit. Also Ford kept using that older style cab style till 97, in the heavier series pickups. They had already presented a newer style cab in 94? for the F150. The smaller engine compartment of that style didn't allow for the bigger motors and transmissions of the heavier series units. The 7.3 was equal to or better than the Cummings offered by Dodge. But as with all diesels by Navistar, their super cold blooded for starting in cold weather. The Glow plugs must be working , even in summer, if you want any chance of starting it. The glow plug automatic relay is super trouble some, and often the new out of the box units don't work! Glow plugs are easy enough to replace but even the new ones need to be checked for working condition. We've been down that road too.

1994 offered 3 options. 7.3 na diesel, 7.3 turbo diesel with automatic transmission and 7.3 power stroke with manual only. I had the 7.3 na, my uncle the 7.3 power stroke and a gentleman down the road with a tire service had the 7.3 turbo diesel.

I bought a 1983 F-250 new with the 6.9 l IDI diesel...it was a very reliable truck, although their were a few annoying issues, but not with the diesel engine. I put over 300,000 miles on it, and finally replaced it with a 1997 F-350 powerstroke, which I am still running today, in 2024. Your truck probably has the 7.3 l, IDI. The 6.9, 7.3 IDIs, and the 7.3 Powerstrokes were all International Engines. I think the 6.0 was, also, although I never had the misfortune of owing one. I also drove a '93 F-350 company truck for a long time, which also had the 7.3 Idi, but had an aftermarket turbo. Although those old diesels didn't make the power of today's trucks, they didn't have the problems of variable geometry turbo, EGR systems, DEF systems...and on and on. The earlier Ford diesels (83 was the first year, I think) were very popular here where I live, in California, and I believe they pre-dated the Dodge Cummins 5.9...and had about the same power. Diesel was $0.60/ gallon when I bought my 1983.

@@HotRodCamaro yeah, I’m still a little sore, but nothing broken. The old truck took the brunt of a head on collision! It was a darn near perfect 140k truck with zero rust…gonna miss her!

You Sir have the 7.3L IDI international version that was before the 7.3L power stroke. Those idi's where mechanical which in my opinion is better just didn't make the power the power strokes did is the down side.

That is a 7.3 idi I've seen one with the banks turbo upgrade
