Gouache is not supposed to be lightfast. Even professional grade brands are not going to be that lightfast. Gouache artwork was originally meant to be photographed or scanned. It used to be used for animation when having a quick drying paint was convenient for doing many backgrounds quickly.

i don't get why people will put their art works in the direct sun or even not use a damn type of protective to preserve it. any art work will fades that's why you use varnish (oil painting and acrylic painting) and spray fixatives for others mediums

A change of product in your cart doesn't mean it's the same brand. It means the seller that you chose happens to sell both brands and they probably ran out of HIMI. It's the same thing if you're shopping for groceries online. Aldi or Wal-Mart will switch my cart to other alternative/competitor products if the one I initially chose suddenly goes out of stock. I'm not saying that these gouache aren't coming from the same manufacturing factories, they probably are. But it's possible they aren't and the seller you're purchasing from is someone who sells multiple brands to ensure they don't run out of stock & lose a possible sale.

This video really speaks to me. Especially how feeling uninspired contributes to our productivity as artists/hobbyists. I personally haven't drawn in like, a month and a half! I used to beat myself up over it. But then I realized that I am not a machine and that we all need time for relaxation and rest. And if I feel uninspired and uninterested personally, that's gonna show in my artwork. Btw: Great job! She looks so beautiful! 💕

Arrtx have TWO SETS - the set you show here is a second set with pastel colours, but they do a set with more normal mixing colours as well. Check the box you buy carefully (I have the yellow box - normal paints, and mint green box - pastel colours). I have both sets and if it helps anyone, there are 18 paints per set and 9 of them are duplicates (including the 2 whites and 1 black). So if you buy both sets then you will get 9 colours that are the same in both sets.

I heard that Artx collabed with Himi/Miya to do this, that's why they're so similar. So technically Artx didn't copy, they just work together. And Artx also have another set with same color selection as the Himi so you can choose.

NO PAINTING SHOULD BE EXPOSED TO DIRECT SUNLIGHT A T A L L :) wonderful video and artwork as always, just a PSA, even high quality paints with a high rating (companies put whatever they want in there, do your own tests always) will fade after extended periods of sun exposure :) put your paintings inside your house in a shaded area, its easier to appreciate them when they arent blinding you.

It's funny that you say that you were feeling more unmotivated to paint this. Because, in my opinion, this piece looks so well blended and seamless than some of your other paintings! Thank you for the demonstration. I have these kinds of gouache paints, but I have not used them yet. I have used regular gouache before and I love it. I paint and draw for fun, but sometimes I am asked to paint for money, and I do it. I know you have to be there with your art, because you have a business, and I applaud you for your steadfastness. I've been wanting to try out gouache for a while now after finding out about it! I love acrylics but hate how fast they dry, and mixers to make it slower just don't work as well for me. Then I don't mind watercolors, but with what I have I take way too long building and layering colors to get very dark. I love the opacity in gouache and the way you can layer it easily over top AND use water to reactivate your pieces!!! I'm def gonna invest in some gouache I can't wait, you making these reviews for these jelly gouache sets have solidified that!!!

I heard that the regular white is for mixing and the titanium white is for highlights, because when you mix with titanium white the colors look muted or gray.

It can 100% still be used for scanning/photographing for reproduction. Do your own lightfast tests in a window and use ones that don't fade after 1 month in a sunny south facing window. That means they are certainly lightfast enough to be called reasonable for professional work. I'm considering these now. I finally just ordered the Himi/miya 24 set as after 3 years of amazon stalking in Canada it went up for a reasonable price! Its only worth it when the price is low enough! Don't assume professional grade = light-fast. Check each supply; Example Copic markers are VERY professional and also 100% NOT lightfast! They will fade some even with air exposure. Meant for scanning/photographing and reproduction as well as rapid design work. Often digital work is less expensive but does not leave a tangible result. I wish I'd been warned about lightfastness sooner. I separate my supplies into lightfast and non lightfast. When working on art I'm not concerned with lightfastness I can use ALL supplies while I limit it to the lightfast ones. If the paints work well don't assume the 'expensive ones' are better just because you paid more for it. That's a bias we should call into question. I think we should recognize perhaps the other supplies may be overpriced.... Sadly. Still lets not get snooty; the humble bic pen and graphite pencil are lightfast and can make masterpieces after all!
