I personally am over it. I just can’t deal with so many gullible people who would rather believe lies than even take a moment to educate themselves with the truth. News and social media has been completely irresponsible in regard to drones. I’m running screen record on controller to cover myself and gear during this insanity. I can diffuse 99% of those bad situations if I can talk to the person, but I’m scared if this goes further, people aren’t even gonna look for the pilot and actually shoot at the drone.

Great video! I personally haven’t had any problems flying in Australia but I’m sure I will one day. There does however seem to be a lot of paranoid people that just don’t understand that drone pilots really aren’t interested in anything they are doing. Even recreational pilots are generally just trying to capture some cool footage and pics for their socials. Calm videos with no nonsense about “right, laws” etc like this one is what the drone community need to see more of, it’s also great PR. Let’s face it a lot of drone nerds are notorious for being a little socially awkward and throwing talk about laws and rights at irrational people will never work.

My experience flying a 3.5" in NJ has so far been overwhelmingly positive. Everyone seems to love it, they want to see it fly and show their kids. Hot girls walking their dogs in the park come up like "OMG, my dog loves your drone so much!" And no one has even mentioned the big newshoax to me yet. Granted, I fly it in a public park or open area, and avoid people's property or getting right up close to people, but overall, I think being a little more tiny and quiet makes a big difference in how people are perceiving it.

Just last week I was getting video of a 6 acre hobby farm. I could see the older neighbor lady walking 2 hundred yards down her ridiculously long drive way dragging her garbage bins. That should have been a sign to drive a little further down the road to finish the shoot, but nope...I had faith she would not bother me. I was wrong. Next thing I know she comes right up to my car and starts taking pics of me and my license plate. That's when I got out of the car as she was walking away and I yelled out to her, "now we both have pictures of each other.". Okay....I didn't say that last part, but I did say that her neighbor is selling and if she has questions she can speak to them and or the agent. I've been doing real estate for 11yrs now and our stories are very similar. In town people are mostly normal. In the country they threaten to shoot my drone down and call the cops.

Some angry guy gave me grief the other day when I was making a YT video. I should have had my action5 rolling but didn’t. Totally unreasonable person. Seemed like I was one bad response away from getting punched. All I could do was calmly diffuse it. The joke of it was, I was flying a big open space with some trees and he was the only dog walker there, I could see him in the goggles so I purposely avoided going close or over him and he still yells at me “YOU THINK THIS IS FUNNY?!”. Do I think what’s funny?… “YOU FLY OVER MY HEAD!”. No, I did not. Followed by explaining that I do this for work too and I wouldn’t try to annoy anyone with it. But still.. “YOU REALLY PISSED ME OFF!”. This dynamic continued for a few minutes.

My neighbor saw me take off from my roof and lied to the Sheriff saying I was shooting a gun so they would respond to my address violently. They ambushed me with an AR-16 and pistol they pointed over my fence as I cluelessly walked outside after landing. The sheriff lies and won’t say who did it. They loved terrorizing me for no reason. I live on the water and only fly out over it not my neighborhood. They are evil and the Sheriff helped.

Your “aircraft”, joke right?
@andrewdrone
@andrewdrone 4 сағат бұрын
Not in the slightest. Drones are, as a matter of fact, officially aircraft. Shooting one down carries a maximum sentence of 20 years and $250k. Further, interfering with the operation of an aircraft is a federal crime, so if the pilot warns someone they are distracting them, they continue to do so at their own peril. That said, most pro pilots, myself included, will be more than happy to share how it all works, especially after landing. No one is peeping on anything, because a) it's a comically ineffective tool to do that compared to a good smartphone like a S23, and b) drone pilots don't care what is in someone's yard any more than helicopter pilots do.

I’m purely into drones as a hobby and it’s no longer fun. I will only fly now in the back country areas of Colorado and Wyoming with no one else around for miles. The timing of the drones being flown in New Jersey is really in question, since there is so much focus now on certain drones being outlawed by select Congressional members. Bottomline, it will be interesting to see where the flying of drones and drone industry will be in a year or so. Wishing you the very best in 2025, for you’ve been a great voice for the drone community!!! 👍👍

I just gave up flying a drone after my neighbor swatted in my house when they saw me taking off and lied to the police and said I was shooting a gun so the police would kill me. They showed up with an AR 15 and a pistol and ambushed me. I barely made it by following their instructions. When I go out, people come out of the woodwork to scream at me even if I’m on a completely legal open space area. One time a Park Ranger tried to steal my drone. It was on the ground outside the park perimeter, but I got to it first, and he was on the opposite side of bushes and couldn’t reach it. Too bad. It’s just too much of a negative hassle and attacks by the Sheriff who lie and wouldn’t even tell me who did it. Another neighbor told me later.

Now, every local seems to have some fantasy of being the town hero by shooting down a terrorist drone. I'm ashamed to say that on my local newspage, about 70% of the comments were hardasses talking about how they're gonna shoot any drone they see out of the sky... @deangordon8993 You generally have no legal expectation of privacy when you're outside your home in a public space, as anything visible from public areas can typically be observed or recorded. This applies to drones as well as airplanes, helicopters, and even satellites.

This whole situation sucks and is really horrible timing because I just got into the Hobby and the ignorance about drones was already exponential before I did. I wish people would stop being paranoid sheep. I just really want to enjoy taking beautiful, aerial photos and video of places I enjoy and now this crap happens. 🤬

You said nothing is going to happen but I disagree. Sadly, they’re gonna enforce very strict laws that will affect you directly. I feel sorry for all drone operators that do it for business or for fun. Your rights are going to be taken away with stricter laws

@ They are not low altitude with all kinds of high zoom, high resolution cameras, that don’t need to be peeping at citizens private affairs. And pilots wont do things to lose their license, it is too costly and takes years of training,unlike this wild west show.

Just something that will give the government a reason to create new regulations and make things harder for everyone who's being responsible. I think some new rules are warranted but you know this is going to go above and beyond just safety.

For sure, restrict ALL drones. Do not allow commercial drone activity in that low air space and restrict recreational drone flying to the recreational areas. No size limit.

from January 28 to February 4, 2023, a high-altitude balloon originating from China flew across North American airspace, including Alaska, western Canada, and the contiguous United States. everyone knows that most Drones flying around, are Chinese...I am not suggesting anything other then to try and understand why people react the way they do...

Drone hate is at least a secondary reason for these stories. They've never wanted the plebs to be in the airspace.
