Ceanothus represent! I have three different species native to the West Coast (bc I'm in Oregon) and I love all of them, they are great plants. I had heard the blossoms could be lathered up like soap! One of mine is Ceanothus velutinus, Snowbrush or also called mountain balm and its leaves are aromatic and make kind of a soothing tea if you have a cold.

This is one that I keep saying I'm going to add, but never seem to get around to it. Right now, I'm hunting for some female Yaupon holly to make a hedge with, and that's been a real chore! Lots of tall Yaupon, but no cultivars that stay under 4'.... or which have a male to fertilize them. Maybe this is a sign that I need to get a New Jersey Tea instead?

It is a pretty low maintenance plant. It starts out slow, but I started with very small plants. Good luck and thanks for commenting.

mine died back pretty hard this year, i think i over mulched it. I keep mine in a pot as well so that could be why, would be interested in how to split it!

Thanks for the comment. I have never spilt mine so I am not sure how to do it.
