As a lifelong resident of New Jersey I say this video seems to be just PR bullshit. Low cost of living? Are you kidding! We pay the highest property taxes in the country. Our state flag should show what NJ is most known for by those driving through our state, a toll booth. Go ahead, and build your dream home down on the Jersey shoreline, and watch it be swept into The Atlantic Ocean some day with rising water levels. Yes, really there are some pretty parts of the state, especially in The Northwest part of the state, but this video seems to have been made for to lure unknowing outsiders to this high cost of living state. And let me in on a little secret, Summit, NJ is downright better than any of those towns mentioned in this video.

My mother grew up in Camden. That was 70 years ago. She told me she did me a favor when she was going into labor she decided to across the BF Bridge and break her water there - as it would look much better if my birth certificate read, Philadelphia instead of Camden. When we moved across the bridge or later to Southeast Jersey, anytime we went there when Inwas still very little, I instinctively would go around the car and push down all the door locks. It was raw and vety scary for a little kid, thats all I remember about it now. But a quick google map search verified for me that it has only gotten way worse since. Now, many years later it looks like a mix between Dresden after WWII, K & A in Philly (a drug addled zombie land after the apocalypse) and the background scenery in GTA IV. Best thing to see while in Camden, is Camden in your rear view mirror. BTW - I loved reading the comments from Jersey people. Had me laughing harder than the BS in this video. I'm on the left coast now, but I really do miss that mix of cynicism, wit and calling bullshit when you hear, like only Jersey-ites can do. And by the length of my wordy comment you KNOW I grew up there. I’m 58 and I’ve lived in New Jersey my whole life and although it’s a great state with so many great places to see, some of the stuff this video is saying it’s completely untrue. Taxes suck! If you look at some of the videos the backgrounds are fake we don’t have mountains behind Clifton like that with snowcapped peaks. I live in Sussex County in the upper Northwest portion of New Jersey and it’s one of the most beautiful places you could imagine in the Northeast of the United States. The Appalachian mountains run right through our county and when people visit they think they’re in another country and can’t believe it’s New Jersey. New Jersey is the Garden State for a reason. But this video is pretty wacky.
@saywhat6250 Жыл бұрын
"They" completely turned NJ along with the rest of the whole entire north eastern part of the U.S into a foreign country where now hardly anybody speaks fluent english...& that's mostly due to the large exodus & demographic change of "natural" longtime jersey residents leaving and relocating to other states in large numbers because of all the political corruption, high property taxes, sky high cost of living, sky high crime rate, a grossly poor/failed mass transit system (1 of the worst in the country) etc., And because of that they turned NJ into a sanctuary state and brought in thousands of undocumented central/south american migrants as well as thousands more of hindu & asian immigrants & placing them in urban/suburban areas throughout NJ or where ever else they can fit them. Nowadays even half the stores you go to you have no idea what they sell because all the signs are written in another language.

Our taxes are crazy high too, but are gas is lower and groceries are not too high compared to when I lived in other places. Florida cost me way more in food (and NO decent produce or pizza) and had insane electrical rates and poor service. The property taxes and rent in Orlando are getting nearly as bad as here, and they pay sucks so we came back here. I love living here in NJ all things considered. Very unusual selection of Top 10 places to live. Newark? Atlantic City? I chuckled with Atlantic City as the video shows Brigantine. I live right where the drone flew over. That’s the Moorings development with the blue/gray townhomes. The beach was Brigantine as well with the old tall building. That’s where the Laguna Grill beach/bar/ restaurant is.

Obviously, you've never been to Jersey. People are leaving there in masses; I lived there for 30 years and couldn't be happier with my decision to leave.

I left in 2008 at 20 years old and never looked back. I don’t miss the depression on people’s face, the smell of sewage & lack of modern infrastructure, heavy tax burdens, no competitive markets, anti gun laws. New Jersey is an absolute joke.

I’m a new resident in Pemberton. Used to live in Union County. So far I love it here. Very peaceful place to live in & real estate is not that high.

New Jersey is one of, if not, the most expensive state, for property taxes, rent, etc., in the US. People are selling their homes and fleeing from here in flocks. Do your research!

Despite the jokes and negative stereotyping, New Jersey continues to attract people looking for good paying jobs, quality health care and education, awesome leisure activities, diverse geography, an enormous variety of good restaurants, and a great place to raise kids.

While I agree about some of the info. here, Newark and Atlantic city are dumps with high crime rates. Most people may work or visit, but no one wants to live there. Princeton and Madison are beautiful and if you want to live near NYC, then Hoboken and Jersey City are good choices. While much of NJ has great schools, living in NJ is very expensive. It is probably the most taxed state in the country. Property taxes are a killer and keep increasing.

Have the people who did this video been to Jersey. I’m born and raised and still live in Jersey it’s not cheap. Also I don’t anyone who would want to live in Newark or Atlantic City. You might as well as Camden

This list is regrettably inaccurate. Newark and Jersey City are crime-ridden; Hoboken and Westfield are ultra-expensive; North Arlington is crowded; and AC is poverty-stricken. Taxes in this state are the highest in the nation, and most of the houses are old and thus need maintenance. People live in dense, overcrowded areas. And that is the reality of living in New Jersey. I am glad I just left.

This video was published in May of 2021, probably in response to the data coming out of NY and NYC post Covid. People are leaving in large numbers and NJ rehabilitation investors are trying to lure that market to make their move into urban NJ, which comparatively, is a bargain or so they'd have you believe.
