This was an unexpected treat this morning. For the cost, this is a great solution for flattening all types of pieces.

Good evening guys. I’m new to woodworking and really just getting into it. I love my Festool tools. Tracksaw/MFT combo, sanders, drills. Next on the Festool list, router, miter-saw and router. But I just wanted to send a shout out to you and Big-D with a great big “THANK YOU! I really enjoy watching your videos, I have learned a lot from them and I appreciate all the time and work put into them. Thank you! Cheers, Brad …………and Stay Sharp…….Whicked Sharp!

Good video @sedgetool. Mine is still in the box on the garage shelf along with the 1 1/2 bit (OF1400). Can't wait to use it, but other projects are in the queue ahead of it. Hope all of you have a great holiday season and a fabulous 2024.

just ordered mine a few minutes ago. This would be a lot cheaper that buying a 15" planer, a bit more tedious for sure, but a few extra minutes isn't going to matter.

Big D, best straight man in the business, nyuck, nyuck, nyuck! woob woob woob!!! Pretty good jig, USD 169.00 for the jig, the Ultrashear router bit is USD 59.61, (full retail prices) a bit steep as usual for Woodpeckers.
@sedgetool
@sedgetool Жыл бұрын
nyuk nyuk....Do the math at $59.61 for the Ultrashear bit with the 4 rotations of the insert carbide it is 4 bits in one.... sooo it is actually $14.90

But I can’t get a large jointer for that cost. A Chinesium 6 inch jointer is $250. I don’t want to know how much a 15” jointer costs lol

I think the last application you showed is the most useful. Not many people have a wide jointer. Or some people make a sled for the thickness planer. This does that and more

Great item. I thought for sure… this isn’t for me. I’m sure it’s too expensive. But after watching… and then seeing the price… I think this is a great option to help with surfacing some boards. Thanks for sharing this.

I also did notice that the dust collection was so bad. SORTA. But I just used my OF 1400 this past week. I took the dust collection off to see where I was at. And I had WAY more dust than you were getting. Imagine what it would have been without it!

Thanks for showing expanded uses for this product. Their advertisement shows limited uses and I wasn’t considering purchasing. However I have some bed posts to flatten and your video inspired me to consider this product for accomplishing what I will need to do rather than use hand planes.😊

If it had a layer of black bristle brushes either side of the entrance and down the sides of the jig that would stop the majority of dust flying out if you was that bothered by it. Just have to make sure that youbrelease plunge before lifting the router at end of cut as bristles would possibly get ripped out

6:35 One thing I've never liked about the clamping elements is how they lift the workpiece off the surface by a sixteenth or so. If you're trying to flatten something that sixteenth is going to affect the thickness of the piece by the same amount. Bessey has a new set of MFT clamps they call Horizontal Pull-Down clamps because the clamping action pulls the piece down towards the table in addition to applying clamping force. They're also half the price of the Festools. I love my Festool gear, but there are a few things that just aren't up to their usual standard.

Reminds me of the Festool MFS system with the "router slide"? Only a LOT better priced! :-) (Disclaimer: I got the ENTIRE MFS system, both sizes, for just $110 on clearance when our local distributor closed). But if this is woodpeckers, why isn't it RED??????

It almost seems like it's not worth whatever they are charging, because it seems very limited in the width of a board you could do. It doesn't do wide boards for say a river table. This would not be very conducive to river tables, because a lot of times, they are wider than that. 🤔
