Congratulations on your awesome tractor. Down here in Iowa, the Deere equipment is pretty much the most popular line of equipment. Down here, Deere’s dealership network and parts availability is second to none. They are so much better in that department than any other manufacturers.

You speced that out the way I would have. The “e” series are the economy version of their tractors. I try and save money where I can without cutting corners too crazily. That air ride seat is a real good place to spend some extra money

Yes craigtaylor equipment has the john deere agriculture equipment dealership here in alaska with lots of stores and they are great to work with. Yeep. The 6135e tractor we got has the 12/12 with creeper gear, air ride seat, heavy-duty 3pt hitch and drawbar. So far we love it it was a good price. A good fit for this srage of the farm.

That's a sweet tractor ! Your corn looked really good from what I could tell . I think it's so neat your growing corn in Alaska . Have you thought about growing heirloom corn and saving seeds from it to adapt to your growing conditions ? It sure would be nice to have loads of manure to put down before it freezes to help the wood break down better . I bet that's a really hard thing to get up there unless you're raising animals yourself . To be honest I can't even get loads of manure very easily unless I want to spend a bunch of money . It's so much cheaper and easier to just go buy granular fertilizer for my corn . Will you put down any fertilizer on the new ground and disc it in before it freezes ? Thanks for sharing and have a great day !

Hello, Yes, we are planning on putting fertilizer on the ground before freeze up. We have gasby and have been saving the kernels to plant in the future. We hope to see big differences next spring with the ground already cut up to help it warm faster. If you have watched all the progress videos then you have seen that we dealt with many new ground issues. We are hoping the weather works for us next summer. Hoping for some rain, we have better irrigation to start with and a long winter in front of us. Thank you for watching. Hope you got a good crop this year.

I didn’t even know there were farms in Alaska! Y’all farm for a living? I guess I’m just used to south Louisiana, everything grows and quick. I would think the season is to short to run any large operation, are y’all a big farm? How many acres you farm? I bet you get top dollar for fresh vegetables up there, can’t be too many production farms.

This is our first year on the new 225 acres. In the 225 acres, there are some wet lands, so about 185 to 190 acres are going to be production. We are tirning the farm into a living, but it will take 3 years to get it fully operatioal. The land is vigin land and being cleared. Stay tuned through months to come. Winter is near and clearimg will continue until temperatures get to cold to run equipment. Production farming is increasing again. Alaska has big production farms in Delta growing barley. Hay is another. Farming was big in Palmer Alaska. The corn we grow is 60 to 75 day maturity.. in Nenana, Alaska, we have May - September for growing. Mid September can be anytime freezing by September 25th. There is a video on how we bought the land a few months ago. Check it out. Thanks for watching. Adrianne

Hope u aint got rocks. Youll wish that disk was cushion gang. We lucky here . On rocks we got is the gravel we haul to rhe driveway. U gotta watch and be careful with that e series. Had one. The dry clutch is shit, and transmissions are shit and will develop the jump out of gear syndrome. Rear axles are shit. Give trouble. The emissions on our 6140 was shit. Word down here in the lower 48 is if it has an e on it run . Hope it aint like what ive experienced

Yup, don't have any rocks, which is good. The agricultural area is on ancient Sand dunes. So far, the tractors been good little over 200 hours. Time will tell about the quality.
