Great updates on john and RingoBeatley Tone glad Ringo got an article in Mojo magazine! Look up getting great reviews and lots of people are loving it! And it is selling pretty good physical albums and Cds a listen streaming we can put in there! No review on Ringo's Look up album! The editor needs to get on the ball! Maybe because it's a country album they didn't put it in there! Like you said Tone probably in April issue! John's magazine looks great! Great updates Tone on Beatles and solo! Thanks for keeping us informed! Take care Tone!

yeah John. bit odd that there was no review . Maybe next month but it should have been in this one. They usually review all genres so I dont think it's because it's a country album. Yeah the John mag is really good , glad you enjoyed it the video my friend

Hi Tone Interesting video. I subscribe to Mojo and have every issue ever. I too was baffled there was no review of the Ringo album. I got the John and Yoko mag also. I think some of the reviews of the albums are way over the top especially yoko’s albums.
@beatleytonesbeatleschannel5 сағат бұрын
Hi Edward, it’s certainly weird about the review. I was wondering whether Ringo’s team didnt send them a review copy in time which wiukd have been a bit of a blunder. I havent read too much of the mag yet . I have a few yoko albums but nothing after Starpeace. Some stuff i like others not so much. I can’t listen to the screaming stuff but some of the pop stuff is good.

Hi Tone The John and Yoko magazine is an interesting one. I ordered it. There are only 4 pounds of shipping fees. I'm looking forward it to it. Tomorrow, I get the new Ringo lp. My first had some cracks. My record called me today. Take care.

Hi Peke, hope you enjoy the mag when it arrives and that your Ringo album is perfect this time

Hi Mate, picked the John & Yoko mag up last week, it's a fun read. I think a lot of it is well known, but i enjoyed it. Record collectir do these specials very well. Nice review mate. 👌 PS.. regards Julians Jude, i felt sorry for him with how upset he was by the negativity toward it. I was astounded that big chst shows like Graham Norton had no intetest in interviewing Julian. What stories he has and he never declines a Beatles question. Sadly missed opportunities all around. I have a lot of time for Julian and Sean.

Hello Beatley Tone, thanks for this review. I was not aware of these magazines. I will order the Record Collector magazine as this appears to have a lot of interesting stuff. Not just reviews of Johns albums as I already have so many magazines that's been doing that already. I suppose it's a similar situation for you as well.

You're welcome glad you enjoyed the video. Yeah the John mag is really good , always good to read these retrospective reviews and the other articles look good too.

Hey Tone, thanks for the update. I’d seek out Mojo just for the Weller article - I was a bit young for the Jam, but I clearly remember seeing the Style Council’s Speak Like A Child video in 1983 and have been a Council/Weller fan ever since. All that is to say, I’m now looking forward to your Jam video.
@beatleytonesbeatleschannel18 сағат бұрын
You're welcome Jason. I was in with the Jam right from the start so looking forward to making that video. Saw them 3 times during the 70s and Ive lost count of how many times Ive seen Weller as a solo artist. It;s been a while since he's made a really good album but I keep buying them
@jasonardler837317 сағат бұрын
@ interesting. I loved A Kind Revolution; Other Aspects and On Sunset and had them on high rotation for a couple of years. I like a lot of Fat Pop, but haven’t warmed to 66 as much. Not sure he’ll ever top Wild Wood, or Our Favourite Shop for that matter. I do wonder if you had to be young and a Brit in the 70’s to really get the Jam?
@beatleytonesbeatleschannel17 сағат бұрын
@@jasonardler8373 yeah I like parts of those albums but the first 4 solo albums are untouchable for me , 22 Dreams also very decent. Yes maybe you had to be a brit and I was certainly young , they never really made really big outside of the UK . They arrived on the coat tails of punk without really ever being a punk band.

Record Collector and Mojo? I'm going to Reckless on Friday, dude. Thanks for the mention. I love both magazines, but I wish they'd increase the font and stop printing on colored pages 😅😅😅

Beatley Tone-Just to make you aware-the March 2025 issue of Mojo has a Ringo Starr cover for the same issue. Found this out by accident when I checked Ebay after hearing your podcast. As a Beatles collector, I certainly would prefer the Ringo cover over the Weller cover. Thanks for the info about the March 2025 Mojo!

Great vid Tone, i don't buy the magazines bout the Beatles or solo anymore there's been thousands hasn't there, i use to get the odd one to read then chuck it but i do have the NME specials that came out in 2009 with each Beatle album on the front in silver edging including the extra MMT i think you had to order, i don't know why i still have them i never touch them anymore. How far in the new McCartney legacy have you got i just finished myself, i did see on page 667 ( not a spoiler really) they get his age wrong, take care.

Thanks very much, glad you enjoyed the video. yeah loads of mag, I tend to keep them and read them again years later. Ive been so busy im not very far through the legacy. Im up to the Nashville recordings around page 100. I need to make more time for it

Thanks for the heads up! I have to be honest and say that I am John & Yoko'd out: to quote George Harrison "It's all too much". Somebody dropped the ball with the lack of review for Ringo. These days I am not surprised by that blunder. Thanks for bringing the lack of review to our attention. I appreciate some of John's solo stuff and one of Yoko's albums and her philosophies. This is nothing personal. I am interested in Julian's career, he is an amazing human being so that would be interesting to read.
@beatleytonesbeatleschannel17 сағат бұрын
It's possible I guess that Ringo's team didnt send out an album to Mojo although I think this is unlikely , that would have been a massive blunder. Totally understand that you might be John and Yoko'd out Mike

Like you i bought this edition of Record Collector.I think history is being kind to John as records such as 2 Virgins,Life with the Lions,wedding album and the live disc of Sometime in New York are all terrible and lets face it i and others only bought because we love the Beatles and John. Interesting looking at the Guiness book of the album charts i was suprised to read that Mind Games albums fared even worse than Sometimes in New york for John.Got to 13 and 11 respectively. Why McCartney Legacy is brilliant is it actually tells the truth about how Paul was recieved when his records came out as i remember.You and i remember and younger fans need to know the Solo Beatles were not as loved as they are today
@beatleytonesbeatleschannel17 сағат бұрын
True but chart positions dont always reflect the quality of the album David. It can also largely depend on what other albums were out there at the time and there were a lot of great albums by other artists in the 70s. In the mag these are retrospective reviews and McCartney legacy show reviews at the time of release. There was a lot of bias against Paul in the 70s especially from Rolling Stone who John had in his back pocket. However I cant defend the experimental albums or the live disc of Sometime in NYC although I think Please baby Dont go and Cold turkey versions are decent on that one.

Yes, John had some missteps in his solo career, but I listened to Walls and Bridges yesterday for the first time in ages and...wow! Seriously good. I also think that his Double Fantasy/Milk and Honey songs showed that he would have continued to make truly great music had he been given the time. But it's all a matter of individual taste and opinion.

Mr. Beatley, I am issuing a formal apology for my comment on your previous rundown of Ringo's album. I deleted it of course. It was reprehensible. Some day I hope to earn your forgiveness. You give A LOT to the Beatles online community (off line too I'm sure). I wanted you to know that I purchased the Ringo album and it should be arriving tomorrow. I am excited to hear it (big turn around from what I said before). I almost purchased the John and Yoko issue and I may after I take a step back and assess. Looks good if the writing's good. Anyway, carry on and thank you!

No worries Rick you are forgiven for sure. Let’s face it we’ve all done it before, well i know i have on various forms of social media so no harm done but i do appreciate you writing back - thank you. Now i hope you like the album because my review is only my opinion and i would hate to think I’d influenced you to spend money on an album you end up hating. I hadn’t noticed you’d deleted your comment tbh . Anyway thanks for getting back to me and i hope you continue to enjoy the channel

Perhaps I am biased as to the Beatles? Paul had, arguably the best post Beatles career. George did well and Ringo had some good tunes and worked with a number of great musicians. Unfortunately, I found much of John’s post Beatles output boring other than one or two songs. I always wondered how much better he would have been without Yoko’s influence? Most of his tunes to me are pedestrian. Yoko stifled his creativity. As the Bare Naked Ladies said,” If I were John and you were Yoko I would gladly give up musical genius”.
