New Jump Trail at Giants Ridge! | Mountain Bike Minnesota

At the time of filming this new blue jump trail was still unnamed. The trail is located at Giants Ridge in Biwabick MN and was built by Pathfinder Trails.

Looks incredible, Northern Minnesota is steadily establishing itself as a MTB destination with trails like this! Buck is absolutely right about trail rating disparity between Midwest trails and elsewhere, "Minnesota Double Black" is almost a meme at this point.

You're right about that. It seems like we are getting more appropriately rated trails up north so maybe that'll trickle down the rest of the state.

SO happy to see a new video Kris, and of course it was that dope jump line! Can't wait to run into you again! And Adam is 100% right at the end. My 7th grade daughter and I tore down that trail. She was super overwhelmed with a couple of the features, but totally rideable and rollable and on a second pass, all good. It's a spectacular all-rider trail.

Great to see trails like this. I've been harping that Spirit needs to get a good progressive jump line built for some time but all they seem to want is to cater to the few hard core guys who love big gaps. Next we need them to build some closer to the twin cities!

It's awesome to see how many trails they have built at Giant's Ridge. Feels like just last year there were maybe 3 trails up there? Now there are 10+ gravity trails! Have to book my weekend trip up there.

Yeah, they are getting a solid trail system up there. The other new trails Techonite and Featherlys are a lot of fun too. You've definitely got to get up there.

Rode this on Friday. Unfortunately the rain from Thursday and a strong headwind made it hard to carry speed. Can't wait to get back up there and really give it a go. You made that drop look easy and it looks so small on camera compared to real life.

We had a pretty calm day when we were filming but last Sunday I was up there and the wind was things tricky.

This trail is sweet. Dope video as always! I do gotta say though, for your criteria of what makes a good jump trail, I feel like this one does sometimes miss the "landings you can case" mark. I was able to clear most of these, but the first run down was rough try to scout and read the speed as an intermediate rider. I had a buddy who was a beginner with jumps who was overclearing leap frog, but this trail was just too much to try to get a feel to hit these safely. The big dip seems like an MN trademark, but it was a total turnoff to try to clear some of the bigger ones seeing that lip at the back... It's hard to get it perfect but that's my one critique of this trail. l hope they keep up this direction though! Buck is totally right that we need more blues, I think we need a way to approach these big jumps and progress up to clearing them all.

Dang. That looks like an insanely fun stretch of trail the pathfinder dudes built, you think it’s the best at Giants? Sure looks like it. Not sure why but I feel like Buck’s cut-off jean shorts really lend credibility to his closing statements. Great video as usual and good to see you back!

Love this trail! This jump kzbin.info/www/bejne/lWq6ZJKgiKyqgdE is the biggest send I've done in several years; and it felt so sweet catching the transition! I chickened out on the road gap drop...wasn't sure my 120mm Pony Rustler would happily accept that big a hit; but it looks pretty smooth on video.

That drop is intimidating but it's fairly straight forward. I was nervous about coming up short the first time I hit it and sent it way too far! haha! But the speed range that it can be hit at is very broad.
