Looking great Richard. What a difference those first layers have made. You must be really pleased. I use cheap brown hobby craft poster paint to cover the white plaster, followed by a covering layer of dried used coffee grounds. ( I drink a lot of coffee 🤣). That gives me a dark earthy textured base layer before the mixture of greens. I look forward to your next layers going in. Regards….. Steve 👍👍

Great work Richard, Nice to see some form of greenery on the layout and it does indeed make a big difference. I also noticed the overscale spider doing a Chris Pine over the cement wagons which im sure was added on purpose for Halloween;) LOL. Cheers, Michael

I was watching each of your cement tanks as they came into the scene at approx. 10:55 to 11:30 and almost all of them did a little shudder just as they came into view, suggesting to me that there is a small track issue at that location. What I didn't expect to see, though, was a passenger on the very last tank in the train! Check it out. P.S. I've just seen other posts reporting the 'passenger', so I'm not the only one to be amused by the realistic, if a little overscale, wildlife!

What a difference the first layers of grass have made. It's made huge visual progress in one episode. Good of you to acknowledge the gremlins that lurk within every point & board joint, just waiting to trip up each new set of loco & wagons that ventures on to the track for the first time! Really looking forward to see how you layer up the scenery, as I am at a similar stage the my own new layout.

I think that the effect you have achieved thus far is a great base for the finer detail to be added later, Richard. And good on you for pointing out how simple application of layering improves the look of a landscape. The sun bleaching of grass and the yellowing of patches when there is a prolonged dry spell are often overlooked I think, as is the subtle tonal difference around hedgerows and river sides 🤔 Look forward to the next instalment mate 😎👍🍻🍀

Looking great. I like the plan of putting down the ground coverage then the ballast then the green stuff on top. I still have 1 board left to add track on for my TT layout, so it's about time to mock up some bridges and plan where the scenery will go. The only issue is, I can't fully test the track until I get something other than my class 08, and the TTAs are still a way away...

When you do the scenics and scatter by pouring the WS soils on… how do you clean up the layout after? Do you collect any of the lose material some how?

Rich, looking great, one observation, do you think the left hand tunnel portal would look better if it had the same upper section across the top as the right hand one?

Yes, however... its a carbon copy of the real tunnel portals at Hadley Wood and Potters bar. One bore was done years before the other hence the design change.

@marksinthehouse1968 Жыл бұрын
Unbelievable ,they so good ,I wonder who will have them ,superb futuristic livery too crazy innit 😢
@QALibrary Жыл бұрын
@@marksinthehouse1968 the plan is to replace the engine in 2 of the locomotives and also replace and expand the fuel tanks. The main problem with the locomotives are they using way too much fuel and the fuel tanks are too small. The MK5 coaches are more of an issue… 3 coaches are listed to go to the scrap yard already due to cracking of the body frame. They are trying to rent out the rest of the coaches but no one touching them with a barge pole due to their design issues and the thinking all of them will be in a scrap yard very soon. Both the MK5 coaches and 68 have both not been officially delivered and signed off as commissioned due to there age and issues.
