I've been so fortunate to have 2 wonderful kelpies. My 1st, Poochy, chose me on a walk. He jumped into my arms, and followed me home. It was meant to be. Our second, Kalina, (which means Love in Aboriginal Australian) was in a rescue shelter for a long time, we figure because she has a gimp leg a lot of people passed on her. But she is just as fast, she's smart, and breathtakingly beautiful. Absolutely love Kelpies.

By far and away the best allround athlete of the dog world ! Nothing comes close for endurance in hot, harsh conditions. Top 5 for agility, jumping and mouth eye coordination. Smart as all get out and free of complicated ailments. Terrific guards and when bought up in a family great pets. Unbeatable as a mate for the active jogger or cyclist and benchmark for stock handling. Oh, and Aussie ! Love em !😎👍

Got a rescue Kelpie. Kaiser is awesome with other dogs, children and people. Just do not come in unannounced. Playful smart and loves the water as we live on a lake. Wonderful pets !

We went to the RSPCA(UK) to get a new rescue dog as one of our had died, we've only had rescues, they've all been great, well almost. At the RSPCA there was this dog that I didn't recognise, the people at the RSPCA just said it was some sort of mongrel, we took it and introduced it to our existing dog, a staffie labrador cross, the new dog was very friendly, a little timid to start with, out older dog was assumed to be top dog so we treated him as such. After a few days this new dog took over, he was so easy to train and he was very clever. The new dog soon was the mail fetcher, the tins of chum fetcher in fact he did everything. After a couple of months a young lady came past our house with a very similar looking dog, she said her dog and ours were kelpies. We looked them up and sure enough our new dog was a kelpie. What a fantastic dog, apart from refusing to swim in the canal he was up for anything, so fast and agile and extremely friendly to everything and everyone. Unfortunately he died suddenly last October, he was just 9 tears old, what a loss, we'd had 8 rescue dogs before, mostly 2 or 3 together, no other dogs had touched our hearts so much. He settled in with the older dog within hours, such a great dog, what a loss. We don't see many around here in South Wales, UK, there are such lovely dogs, maybe the best!!

To the owner of Red..... I know EXACTLY how you feel. I had a Blue Kelpie I named Titus. I lost him to Epilepsy a 17 Months. That was 32 Years ago, and it STILL tears me up. I've had dogs before and since Titus, but HE is my Number One. Our Present Dog is a Whippet Terrier mix. She's been a Ball, but she's old and HER time is sneakng up on us. My wife is on board with this. We WILL have another Cattle Dog! We've already agreed on his name. It will be Eli.

Actually there is no such breed as Australian cattle dog. The correct name is Queensland Heeler, Blue or Red tick

I've always had Kelpies since my late father bought me one when I was 5 years old her name was lady I had her until I was 21 years old I have a beautiful red Kelpie 11 years old her name is Dusty she is long retired due to serious anxiety disorder sadly I got Dusty only one week after father's passing we both decided only a month before next Kelpie pup would be red Cheers Stephen from QLD 🤠🐨🦘🐊
