Love these specials especially the vinyl on show and in this case a bottle of wine ,cheers. Always good to digest and go back in time and my school music class it was Caroline "live" by the Quo and horrified teacher telling me no headbanging. Saw Dokken supporting on the AC/DC tour and seeing The Scorps three times between 1985 and 86 so World Wide Live number one for me especially seeing them headline in Germany 1986. Maiden number two, missed the tour and had the chance, kick me. MSG One Night At Budokan number three especially On And On, great "live" recording. A nod to Queen as I saw the Knebworth show in 1986 and that Live Magic release so edited. A shout out for Ozzy, Speak Of The Devil and going back to Quo with their Live At The NEC release which originally was in a 3 lp tin/box called From The Makers Of. All in all guys a great pod again. Hope to see you at a gig but Stonedead for sure.

My choices would be Maiden, scorpions, Priest, Dokken, Rush. George Lynch smokes on Beast from the East 🤘

Another great trip down memory lane chaps. From your 12, my 3 would be Maiden, Saxon and Dokken. Live After Death is for me, the greatest Live album (received it for Xmas 85) I understand where Jam is coming from, not Bruce’s greatest moment but nostalgia carries it through for me. Dokken avoided me unfortunately, huge fan but didn’t get to see them. Saxon, first true love, doesn’t get more British than that!

I recently bought both Scorps and Dokken is a better too. Good warm up for Biff and the Barnsley boy's in two weeks 🤘shout out to Phil & Lemmy too.

Real to Reel by Marillion would be my Top pick. It was my first Marillion album and was the key reason I made Marillion my first live gig in Feb '86. A decision I've never regretted. I should also mention a more obscure eighties live album and that would be DUMPYS RUSTY NUTS with SOMEWHERE IN ENGLAND, a double live set recorded at the marquee. A bit of a rarity but well worth seeking out. Loud, right and heavy, blues based and very rude! Dumpy Dunnell, Kerry Langford and Mark Brabbs. Check them out. Another great show fellas, hope I one day meet you all for a brew.

Great show guys and Gav.I can't diagree with anything here. Then everyone will have a different list it usaully is something I go, "yes, i'd forgotten that". I might have put Dumpy's Rusty Nuts, Somewhere In England up in my one of many. It is just so height of pub rock that I fancy a pint of Snakebite thinking about it. And, as always, wonderful to see you again at KK's Saturday night. PS. Subscibed.

Even though like Jam I saw MSG at Hammersmith on 22nd Oct 1983 I prefer the One Night At Budokan lp. Cozy Powell's drums sound amazing in the car. I also saw MSG at Hammersmith on 13th Sep 1981 supported by Starfighters with Stevie Young now of AC/DC on guitar. Other bands in your brilliant episode I saw were Whitesnake Reading Festival 1980/Thin Lizzy Reading Festival 1983/Scorpions Knebworth 1985 (one of my top 10 shows) and Dokken supporting AC/DC at Wembley Arena 11th Mar 1988. But for me the greatest live track ever is I'm So Afraid live in Cleveland from the Fleetwood Mac Live lp released in 1980. It blew me away when i first heard it in Harlequin Records in Maidenhead back then. Give it a listen and see what you think. Hopefully It'll do the same for you guys !!

Maiden's Live After Death isn't just a classic live album, but it's the last great live album. No arguments on No Sleep Till Hammersmith, same with Reel to Real. Shame that Live Evil wasn't chosen, same with Helloween. Now I might upset a few with this - Live Magic is a waste of vinyl, because it's heavily edited and not the full show. As for Live at Last, it was put out by Sabbath's previous management, meaning the band didn't have a say on it. Another great episode as always 🍻🤟🏻

Cheers mate - thanks for the comments. Helloween is a classic - I agreed 👍

Motorhead-No Sleep... Why? Other than the fact it's a killer record, I was there both nights at the Newcastle City Hall, balcony (facing)-'The Short Sharp Pain in the Neck tour'. World Wide Live, Priest... Live, and Live Evil are a bit polished, a bit processed, a bit lifeless-a bit... EIGHTIES to these ears. Absolutely love Schenker's Budokan album though. And a couple more that are personal favorites: Blackfoot-Highway song Live, and Dire Straits, Alchemy.

1. Beast From The East (Dokken) 2. Live From Loreley (Marillion) Does that count? 3. Live/Life (Lizzy)
@talesfromthepowerage15 күн бұрын
Cheers for the comment - Marillion doesn’t count - just a (awesome) video! 😅
