He never mentions the blade steel in the review. If its 440 you want that's fine. But that's a $60 knife max and $30 of that is paying for the name and the sheath looks quality. If your like batman type stuff be cool for the collection. But definitely not worth what they are asking.

The Buckmaster is so stupid on so many levels. Sure, why not slap a massive slotted hole in the weakest section of the blade! Heck, let's go ahead and add a useless full-length swedge to further weaken that section as well! Want to get yourself killed attempting mall ninja grappling stunts? We got you covered! Agree. SPY27 is reasonably close to both S30V & S35VN in terms of performance. I have found that it does offer quite a fine edge structure and therefore sharpens up well and responds to stropping well. Note quite sure I'd rate the edge retention as insane but yes you can keep it going with regular stropping. Providing you don't pay too much for it, it's a good steel.

@@WallachGaming Just FYI. RWL34 is the same as CPM154 and both are powered steel versions of 154CM (which has been around for many years now). RWL34 is made by Damasteel in Sweden who are well respected steel makers. It is a well rounded steel with slightly better performance than 154CM and about the same performance as S35VN. It's important to note that materials are a relatively small cost of knife production. (This is obviously a general statement & depends on the exact materials involved & production methods used.) Labour and administrative costs are much bigger drivers - especially for US & Euro made knives. Halving the size of a knife may only result in 10-20% lower production cost. Regardless of size - the knife still needs to be assembled, the blade still needs to be sharpened, the knife still needs to be boxed up, the boxes still need to be shipped out, etc. I'm not specifically defending this particular price just providing some context.

Mr Anderson I feel your pain with the reverse flick, but I found it is easier and more convenient for my bigger than average hands if I use my index finger instead of my middle. You should give it a try. I'm 6'4", size 15-4E feet, and robust, let's just say, so we probably have similar hand sizes. My index falls in the same place that most people's middle fanger would be, plus I can get more power behind it so I don't have to roll my wrist with the flick to get it to deploy. I'm just glad you're back. The other guy is okay as a fill-in, but you have the knowledge, presentation, and practicality that resonates with most of us who take ourselves seriously but know when, where, and the right time for a more appropriate display of humor unlike some of the philistines in your vicinity when you shoot your videos. I have a question for the tactical knife enthusiasts. Is there any advantage to the blade being serrated like that Swick 6?
@realbroggo
@realbroggo Ай бұрын
While most people hate serrations they do have a useful purpose. Serrations are intended to improve the ability of a knife edge to catch or ‘bite’ into certain materials (eg. synthetic ropes where a plain blade tends to slide over the surface rather than cut). They also work well on substances that are soft, flexible or can be crushed easily with downward cutting (eg. bread & some vegetables). As a result of their design, serrations create a more aggressive cut. Some serrated blades can even perform like a small hand saw. The Swick 6 isn't a tactical knife - it's a self defence knife. The difference is important when it comes to serrations. As a general comment, from tactical perspective, serrations are often more of a hinderance than a help as they tend to tear rather than cut and can get caught up in some materials making their use frustrating. However, from a self defence perspective serrations can offer a benefit because of their aggressive cutting power. In situations where neatness doesn't count serrations can often cut through materials such as clothing more easily and can cause more aggressive wounds. If you are at risk of losing your life and you decide to use potentially lethal force to defend it, then you're going to want something that has the best chance of stopping the threat - neatness doesn't count. Hope this helps. (Please check local laws regarding the use of knives for self defence!)

Can you speak about the relationship between Dogwood Custom Knives and Ethan Becker? He was an author of The Joy of Cooking. One of my favorite cookbooks. 200 dollars for a kitchen knife is sky high for me. But it must be a real nice one. I like to buy boring commercial kitchen knives and give them a 2 hour final finish. Makes for a fancy kitchen knife on a budget.

Buck... you broke my heart. No one wanted the buckmaster to be rebranded as a dive knife. I would buy a worthwhile reworking of the old design, but this thing sucks almost as much as the price!

News flash for Buck - 420HC was an entry level stainless steel in the 1980's and in 2024 it's still an entry level stainless steel. Yes the BOS heat treat lifts its performance, but it's not alchemy - it doesn't magically transform it into some sort of modern super steel. 420HC is VERY cheap to buy and work with. I feel sorry for those knife consumers who do not know any better and purchase this blade only to realise that it's the same steel as Grandpa's old 110. Sharp blades all.

The first two knives the cold steel and the buck 2.0 ..My question would be is Cold steel and buck out of their mind?, $500 for the cold steel and 800 for the 2.0 ... For that kind of money there's a ton of great knives out there I can get for that kind of cash !, I'm a fan of both brands but some of these knife companies are asking ridiculous prices these days !! 🤷

Benchmade: crazy unpopular pricing. Cold Steel *ahem GSM* Hold My Beer! Really sad to see. Was it at least DLC and just not mentioned? Still wouldn’t bring it close. They need to up the refinement by a large margin for a tactical folding liner lock that’s not made by Reate for $500 🙃 Reminds me of that you were supposed fight them. Not become them meme. Sheesh!
