You missed the most important details about the Prado. That long, wide blade is only 0.09" in thickness, which also contributes to its overall " thinness" and low weight. That's thinner than a Bugout on a 3.75" blade! Impressive!

I liked the one DCA showed, but I nabbed the orange n satin. I was glad there were different ones! I love Deadbolt because it's button lock like and in the pivot, but only the CRKT Exclusive comes in without D2 which I avoid. Nitro V is actually desirable and it's high time I got an orange folder. I’m new to knifes but I’m starting to notice that some companies charge x amount of money for a production knife when it seems like you could get something hand made with better materials for around the same price
@TheTarman9 ай бұрын
There’s a reason Chinese companies are folding most USA ones like they’re freshly-dried laundry these days, and it’s exactly what you described Consumers want quality materials and good QC for the best price possible, and not only are USA companies not offering that in most cases, many are actually deliberately up-charging their products to insane levels while pandering to knife Fudds who think anything stamped with an American Flag is inherently superior. It’s a giant marketing scam to get dim-witted people to accept less for more, and it’s why these USA-made companies are going to start suffering long-term, since they aren’t even attempting to meet the foreign competition in terms of materials and equivalent pricing Hell, some USA companies will use Chinese OEMs and still try to charge prices as though they were fully-made in the USA (*cough* Jack Wolf *cough*), which only further solidifies the desires of most consumers to just ignore country of origin with these blades and just look at testing/reviews
@JosephOlson-ui2pg9 ай бұрын
Precisely the point. You can be a cool kid n have what many want, pay for that and live with it or get something more .... I guess meaningful
@campuscolt659 ай бұрын
Yes on the handmade no on the better materials generally the small shop style knives are older steel’s that are easier to work. Many of the new super steels require a lot of machining and expensive equipment to manufacture. The custom knife makers who use those kind of steels usually charge multiple times more than the production knives

Good point. Just remember a steel by any other name may be just the same. Blade geometry matters the most, alloy and thermal cycles add alot and you don't always get what you want, but what the production companies want to sell you. Hopefully you get something in the compromises.

“well made” and affordable are not mutually exclusive.
@TheTarman9 ай бұрын
Fanboys like you are the exact reason American companies keep trying to pull fast ones on the consumer while still acting high and mighty about their products Nearly every big-name Chinese knife company working with premium materials will match USA-made knives these days, if not surpass their QC and materials, for less money The myth that “USA-made” is some inherent stamp of quality has been long-disproven, and it’s your mindset that allows them to keep making worse products to ensure they’ll fall behind the foreign competition. These companies don’t benefit long-term from people like you. They suffer, because normal people want quality products for affordable prices, not American-flag-stamped crap that costs 300% more than it should just because you’re buying a warranty you wouldn’t need nearly as badly if the products were made as good as fanboys and the companies claim they are
@stephenbarabas62869 ай бұрын
🙄 yeah... Another one that USA made HAS to mean overpriced Justify it how you want but people don't believe that crap anymore... Funny how "USA made" is mostly USA assembly with foreign parts...
