Have not had a chance to operate any new Kobelco's it seems to be a better excavator then the ones I have operated.

Beautiful machines. I had a play in a sk75 and you could barely hear it run. And like you said, amazingly balanced for a zero. Hopefully once work can justify il have myself a purchase. Only shame about North America spec is there the wrong colour.

I like how it's a zero turn or close to one great for tight spots.

That 270 looks like a slick machine. I'm always intrigued by how different machines behave some differently based on throttle setting. Some like to be run wide open no matter what, and some operate better dialed back a little bit. How many gallons per hour do those two Kobelcos use? With a Cat 323FL in heavy clay I was using about 4 gallons per hour, and I probably use 8 or so with a 349FL. It's interesting to me that Kobelco hasn't come out with a 35 ton or so zero tail swing machine to compete with Deere/Hitachi, Cat, and Volvo among others. I think Kobelco is definitely the best bang for your buck in the excavator market. They seem to be really powerful machines that are decent to operate (and have an awesome air conditioner) and don't break the bank. However, there is one thing that keeps me away from them. Now when I say this, keep in mind I'm mainly talking about larger machines (say the size of this 270 on up), but you still couldn't pry me away from a Cat. My main reason for saying that is I have operated some Cats with around 10,000 hours that still operate almost as well as a new machine. I don't see many Kobelcos with that many hours around my area of Michigan, but the brands (including one Kobelco SK400) that I've operated with high hours just seem to be more tired out than a comparable Cat. That's not to mention my personal preference to Cat's cab layout and serviceability. Not saying that Kobelco is junk, but I just haven't seen a whole lot of what they are like and how they hold up once you get some hours on them. I know some fellow dirt movers that swear by Kobelco and some that said they had problems getting parts for them and that they needed to improve their serviceability. Don't get me started on Grand Equipment either. However, I will agree with the SK140 being a better machine to operate than a Cat 314. Hope the Kobelcos work well for you in your application. I always love hearing different perspectives on machines from people.

I'd like to see a review of a newer Kobelco SK75SR compared to Cat and Kubota. So far the only review on the SK75 was the one done by Kobelco.
