I just wanted to say ty for all the great informative videos you put out. I am new the market looking for a tractor, and your videos have proven to be quite helpful in learning about different tractors implements, operation etc. One area i am having trouble finding information on is tractor capabilities when it comes to terrain. My use will be a lot of "in the woods" up and down trails etc. Can you go over some of the terrain constraints there are for tractors? maybe you already have a video i haven't seen. If anyone reading this has any thoughts or resources i would love to hear them. Thanks in advance for any help.

Messick, The 6.7 liter Cummins ‘B’ is the engine used in Dodge Cummins pickups. It is popular for a reason, it performs and lasts. This is an industrial duty engine found in construction and other equipment. Cummins has tremendous experience with this size and larger engines. Kubota’s experience is with smaller diesel engines of the 3 and 4 cylinder variety. For most actual full time farmers, the Cummins is more desirable. Versatile is a good company making good products. The owner’s opinions I have heard were for their 4WD articulated tractors. They are rock solid and well laid out. They are particularly attractive to customers who want a modest amount of electronic automation and sensors.
@adamr95153 жыл бұрын
Yea idk how much they've improved them but I know that historically the Cummins just wasn't even anywhere near the same ballpark as the fiat motors that replaced them. It wasn't uncommon for 8.3s to blow up in the old case combines that were running them and now case is running the 6.7 nef motor in the baby combine as well as a lot of increasingly large tractors up to and including the magnums and optums and so far I've never seen any issues. So this just looks like a huge step down to me

Alright someone has to clear this confusion up right now. There is a difference between heavy duty and light duty. And first off any of those engines yall are talking about in a race setting are only making full power for maybe 10 seconds at a time or so, and they are getting torn down after at least every season if not every single night. And it's a similar story to pickups. For the most part a Cummins that makes 370hp in a dodge is only going to be at full load for maybe 1% of its total life if even that and most other times it's just cruising around. Now the reason why these are considered a heavy duty/severe duty application is because every second that this thing is on its running a massive hyd pump and fairly substantial electric load for all those computers and tractors spend quite a few hours at full load or near full load at high rpm applications with tons of dust and contamination going everywhere around them. So it's not an apples to apples comparison and people need to quit saying this

@paulnorman82743 жыл бұрын
Farms, and contiguous plots, generally don't seem big enough in Japan to warrant it, from what I have seen. Since I doubt Kubota wants to develop without very close back-and-forth with actual users, getting real big stuff out of them would likely require an entire development, engineering and production organization in a market where demand for bigger machines is greater. As for priorities, there are billions of people in places where agriculture is just starting to get mechanized. I can't imagine the ultimately stagnant markets of Europe and the US being where Kubota sees its biggest growth opportunities. Also; the US, and Europe, already have plenty of great bigger machines. The smaller end is where Western brands seem to struggle with delivering the kind of value the Asians are able to.

Hydraulics and PTO "knobs" on the rear fender (maybe I missed them)? Where are all the "bells and whistles"? If there are challenges with delivery, I understand it. But for "serious" use that machine needs some add-ons. The competition is (?) Valtra T, Fendt 700-series and so on. I thank you for educational videos, they are great. Just think that you would have easier to tell/show/sell if you had a "top notch" machine with all the "goodies". Over here we have Agco Finland. When a new Valtra, Fendt or some other pice of equipment is released, and they make a video, it's packed with extra everything. I know that Kubota makes great tractors and looking at this one (regardless of the presentation that was GREAT 👍🏽) I thought "Yes, a nice tractor. Would do the job." When I watched the videos (Agco Suomi) about the Fendt 724 Gen 6 and the Valtra T235D it was "Oh mama, who's your daddy? Let me take you home!". And this is (I think) mostly depending on the difference in the picture. - Kubota: We go from here and add on stuff. - Fendt/Valtra: All of this could be yours, can you take/handle/pay it? I am sure you know what is best for the market depending on location, just wanted to give a different perspective. Somehow I managed to make it sound like disrespect and for that I am sorry 🥺.

@@Memyselfandmyguitar But don't you put snowblowers, plows and mowers in the front? We put one cutter in the front abd two in the back. Fastening a plow in the front using 3-point hitch and third and fourth hydraulics makes it nice ddaling with snow. Snowblower needs hitch, hydraulics and PTO. My small Kubota B7100 has hydraulics and PTO in the front. I run a saw/splitter (circular saw and splitting "cone", not a processor) with the PTO and the hydraulics lifts and turns the blade in the winter.
@Born2FarmForced2Wrench3 жыл бұрын
The quick hitch is the only one I'm kinda surprised at, I dont know what you mean by hydralic push bar. In North America very few people use front 3pt/PTO, the one exception would be people looking to run large triple mowers, but those themselves are pretty uncommon. Air brakes on tractors are nonexistent as everyone uses a big truck for hauling needs. 3pt controls on the rear fender are pretty common now, but I cant see what you would use a PTO control for. Tractors in NA are specced very differently than European tractors, mainly because we dont have tight road restrictions so it's easier to pull a wide trailed mower rather than have 3 smaller mowers.

Versatile was a Canadian start up company in Winnipeg Manitoba and they primarily made large tractors for the large acreage farms in the Canadian wheat belt. @markam3063 жыл бұрын
The Cummins 5.9 was originally developed for Case to power small to mid sized construction equipment. Dodge made a deal and put it in their pickup trucks, the rest is history. The 6.7 Cummins is an upsized 5.9 to compensate for stricter emission controls without sacrificing power. Ag tractors have very expensive transmissions and final drives. All components in the drive train are matched, along with the size and weight of the tractor. Farmers need reliable horsepower and you don’t hear of many ‘turning up’ the engines. The 6.7 Cummins can be hot rodded to 4 digit horsepower numbers for short runs at the drag strip. 400 hp in a pickup towing 10,000 to 20,000 is common, but this power is intermittent for hill climbing. These folks closely monitor exhaust gas temps and have upgraded torque converters and built transmissions. Farmer’s needs are completely different. They will pull an implement all day at 90% + power levels. They need to get several thousand hours of life from their expensive equipment. 200 horsepower from a 6.7 liter diesel engine is about right for long term full power use. The 12 liter engines in tractors are set to 400-450 horsepower. Above that the 15 liter Cummins will supply 500-600 hp in a tractor or semi truck. Ag equipment that has engines turned up past these ratings have reliability problems (example current Case IH using the Fiat engines, and John Deere 13.5 liter engines turned up over 500 hp. These power ratings are not only for longevity and reliability, but also for fuel usage. Fuel usage is a major cost for the farm.

I think going forward in the new reality is that unfortunately many well known brands are going to be forced to assemble new products from a bastardized list of random sources based on whoever can produce an reasonably close part. Personally sorry to say, but I think this model will likely be a nightmare to get parts for. I hope to be proven wrong. I just know it's been happening 8n the car world and it has caused supply issues for the ones selling the rebadged versions.
@MessicksEquip3 жыл бұрын
Assembly of final product from standardized parts is pretty common practice in this business. Even big companies like CNH, Deere, etc do the same. Deere.for example uses ZF for a lot of their transmissions. Some of this should actually help parts availability because you have a large machine population to support the sales over decades, rather than there being only a couple thousand of something floating around and making parts not economical to produce.
