I used to do latch hooking wow!! I made a wall hanging and a few rugs. Lol!! Adorable!! Thanks for unboxing and bringing back fun memories from my much younger days!! 😀 💕 BTW- If you put the hook through take the 2 tips of yarn wrap under the tool and pull to the side then the latch will grab it and pull through. You seem to be doing double duty. But whatever works right?? 💕

I am 62 yrs old and back in the 70's 80's they called this Hook A Rug. I did many of these as gifts. Some even made pillows out of them , In fact I have one that I bought about a year and half ago but have not worked on it for discovered Diamond Art hahaha so my life has been that. So, now need to get the Latch Hook out and begin. Thanks for showing this and Love your videos and think you are amazing.

I used to do this when I was in junior high and even when I was an adult. I loved these kits. In junior high there was a class called exploratory arts and it was broken into 6 week....6 weeks....9 weeks and each block had different things. One was the home economics /art. That is where I learned how to latch hook. The teacher told us to draw a simple design on a piece of construction paper that was somewhat abstract. Then she brought in canvas and yarn in all kinds of colors cut up. We had so much fun drawing our design on the canvas and then putting the yarn on. I have no idea what ever happened to that project or the many others that I did over the years. I kind of forgot about it until now!

Like many others have said, I used to do latch hook as a child/teen but I couldn’t tell you now what, if anything I completed. A while back, I thought about trying it again but my diamond painting takes up most of my free time. But seeing your video, I’m really motivated to try again. I love the backing on your kit. Thanks for sharing.

Years ago. I did several, but I remember a pillow, and a fairly large rug. I am glad they have a backing on them now, and seem to be finished better on the sides.

I've done 4 latch hook rugs, and I wish big box stores would get new big ones that are less childish. Herschnerrs has better ones...but they're crazy expensive. What i usually do is take plastic bags, label them with the yarn color/symbol and stuff as much of that color in the bag as possible. Leaving the yarn in their rolls gets messy after the roll is partially empty. Then I'd lay out 1 row of yarn at a time like 10 light blue, 3 dark blue, 2 dark grey, 1 light grey, 5 white, 2 black, 3 light grey etc and zoom down the row. Its nice that this kit came with the back on. I had to buy binding and hand bind my edges. (The back isn't pretty, but it works!) And if you can find enough yarn colors, theres a manual latch hook yarn cutting tool so you can turn simple cross stitch charts into latch hook art. (I have the tool but not enough yarn colors to try it.) Big box stores do sell blank latch hook canvas.

That's a really great tip! Irish stores don't usually have any latch hook in stock, so I'm glad to find some online :) And I didn't think about making cross stitch into latch hook - I'll have to try that next!!

@@RachelRaeCraft the trick is finding enough colors in a thick enough yarn. Red heart super saver is probably the thinnest I'd go, but finding yarn thicker without interesting texture might be tricky. I probably wouldn't use fancy overdyed yarn.
