I teach in the Cincinnati Public School District. Since cellphones have been put in pouches. Students are more engaged with one another. There have been less conflicts

All teachers should be burned and sent to gulogues or what they have done to American schools.

Cell phone use at school isn't an issue in my house. My son isn't allowed to take his to school.

The Republican government just put a man in your little girls bathroom. If you truly think its about safety and not just some bigoted bullshit then you should think on that.

In the old school, you didnt have shootings at schools. So old school doesnt work today. And seeing the inadequate way they are responding to them makes me, as a parent, want my child to be able to contact me if something does happen. Because im not stopping at a police line for them to screw around while my kid is a target.

I'm an actual teacher. Here's the reality: If something were to actually happen, the cellphone isn't going to work anyways because the tower is going to be overloaded with service. Just ask the police, it's happened in every single mass shooting event, making the cellphone worthless. But from a safety standpoint: We don't need kids communicating out. We shouldn't be communicating out. Why? IT WON'T DO ANYTHING! And; we don't know who the attacker is, so it's basically op. sec. we don't want the perpetrator to know where we are. Thirdly: Our school currently has a ban on cellphones (as in if they are seen, it's an instant detention or saturday school) and student engagement has gone through the roof. Sorry, but kids don't just have cellphones to contact home...99.9999% of it's use is playing games, texting friends, anything but what they actually need to be doing. Cellphone bans are fantastic.

If there is an emergency then the teachers will call 911

This is not a good argument. Experienced first hand a student give a teacher his phone and later that day there was a bomb threat and the school was evacuated. Mind you this was a Friday so he didn’t get his phone back until the following week with the teacher swearing she would never take a students phone because he had no way of letting anyone know where he was or if he was safe. Now imagine a situation where there is a school shooting and you can’t get ahold of your kid.

my parents told me if something happened at school get myself out and call them. that is what im going to teach my kids. they will not rely on a public teacher to make life or death decisions for them.

I think the cellphone law is dangerous. With all these unstable kids bringing weapons to school I would want my kid to have access to his cell phone.
@DONTHATETHEPLAYA3213 күн бұрын
Why??? You won't be allowed inside the building it locks down. And the teachers call police... Why would 40 or 50 kids call the cops at once when it only takes the teacher or the office. We didn't have phones in school
@Firstofanyone3 күн бұрын
@@DONTHATETHEPLAYA321it’s not just about calling the cops. With uvalde and other schools, we’ve seen how some cops do nothing. It’s morbid but kids deserve to say “I love you, goodbye” to their family members

@akinatsukana you know the amount of actual school shootings in the usa is incredibly low, the stats used include suicides and other things that don't apply.
