I've seen layouts like this previously (Originally from Rockwood/Flagstaff), but I've never seen one executed QUITE like this!! I think it's the multi-functional nature of that kitchen/dining/bar setup that really sets this one apart! When you watch the video, then you'll see what I mean!

Really like this model and they way GD did the dining area especially compared to the new Jayco 2023 Eagle 335RDOK. I would like to see the sliding table also pivot so that the two chairs could also face the TV but you could still eat at the table or work at the desk. I really liked the lower separation between the dining and love seat better than the Jayco design and having the extra storage in that area is a great option to keep a printer or store the laptop as well when you are done working. I don't like the way the trim over the fridge was handled, seeing that cord hanging down looks like the unit wasn't finished before it left the factory.

I think Jayco do it better with the Eagle 335RDOK. Love the brightness, televator tv, outdoor kitchen, included Blackstone. Everything just looks so much higher quality and more like a home. Hope to buy one some day.

Very nice, love the fact that all windows open. Don’t mind the one by the stove. The dinette area is great, perfect for those that are still working and traveling. Small trash bin in the bathroom is just fine. Need to move the outside speakers down.

I have this exact unit and I wish there was a more comprehensive and usable IC remote controller inside this unit. After nearly 18 months I still do not understand most of the settings needed to operate the 341rds at its optimal potential

The one thing that keeps me from trading in my KZ Durango 279rdd for this unit is,.....no outdoor kitchen slide out option. If I could replace the door side slide with an outdoor kitchen bunk I would buy this in a heartbeat.

Your right, it's an interesting layout that may not be for everyone. I do like it when you get the bigger stove and oven in the kitchen, but I wish the sink were geographically closer to the stove somehow. With this layout I could see myself perpetually walking back and forth between the stove and the sink while cooking.

We got one of the first 341rds in south carolina and loved the floor plan. The one thing we had to change was removing the table and rail. Just being me and my wife most of the time we don't really need the table and don't like a dinette. We now use the bench seat as a shoe changing station and shoe storage. Best floor plan ever with the table out of the way. Make the counter behind it more like a bar or prep station!!!! Just need more than one batter. Went dead when power went out overnight this winter lol.

My wife and I have a deposit with the Idaho Falls branch on the Imagine travel trailer version of this layout. Looking forward to making the drive out to pick it up in a week and a half if everything stays on target. I wish the imagine had the E/W bedroom layout but we love the room in the "den". It's great for movie nights when we are camping with friends, and has the sleeping room to be a bunk house on guys fishing trips.

@@JoshtheRVNerd @Will If you're talking about the Imagine 3100RD - I've had the 2020 version since it was introduced and it's fantastic! I like some of the slight changes to the layout in this fiver (like center stove position), but the 3100RD is one of the best travel trailer layouts we've ever seen I can't 'imagine' trying to go back to more traditional layout. We went travel trailer so we could still use the truck bed for toys.

Love the carpet in the bedroom, so much cozier and helps with sound proofing. Queen beds give you more room to walk around and mattress is lighter when replacing. Love this floorplan

Upon *_"REFLECTION,"_* 😉 it's my personal opinion that this Grand Design deserves two thumbs up 👍👍 I can see how they're targeting a certain demographic with this one: Couples of all ages, who might have friends and/or family drop in. It's well designed; and well thought out! I love the entertainment area. It really gives it a much "homier" feel to it. Also, the way they implemented a versatile and practical dining area is just short of "genius!" Whomever buys one of these is sure to get their money's worth.

Like that kitchen access from Road mode and as usual I want the true queen bed. This design is much better for those of us with dogs since that living room space is separate from the kitchen and you can contain them so much better in that space so they can't so easily get to the door

Absolutely LOVE this plan. The living area is perfect...it's cuddleiscious to an extreme! edit: Josh...instead of having stackable W/D...why haven't builders adopted APARTMENT sized stacked W/D units...they're all in one and while tall, they are self contained and immensely easier to install.

That kitchen layout sure is different but I'm liking it. It's like the Swiss Army Knife of dinettes. I really wouldn't change a think. If anything maybe put the living room TV on a televator and have a big picture window back there.

I really like this one. I think the kitchen is interesting and the dinette portion is very cool. I like that the booth part moves!!! I would prefer no window behind the stove honestly...but get why people do like it. I agree about the lighting....needs more in certain places. Really good storage through out the inside. I think a little waste basket by the toilet would work okay. Was there a set up for a tv in the bedroom? I like that there is some kind of "nightstandish" next to the bed. I am like you, Josh....give me a designated place for waste baskets...laundry...night stands and for a coat closet near the door and a designated place to put a broom and mop! Don't understand why that is so difficult to do! Anyway...love the awning space as well. Is this generator prepped? Thanks once again for the awesome videos! We are going to sign papers & do the walk through on ours next Friday. There are a few trade offs with it, as there are with any camper, but, still a great layout. We actually went to look at the 367BHS & after seeing the bunk room in person, it looked a bit smaller than we thought it would be. Josh, I’ve your videos and all the details you give. My wife and I brought the previous version of the 341RDS, we have the 2021 340RDS and love it. Our two girls love the tri-fold couches for their beds. I wish the kitchen slide would not have the high lip on the floor edge. Also agree the overheads need lighting along with the pantry. The one light is not enough for the pantry. Keep the videos coming.

that has to be the best dinette idea i have ever seen in any rv manufactured or home built so far. seat 4, breakfast bar facing outside, or 2 more stools chairs facing tv if got lot of friends out there, and office desk too, and easy to change for the moment, just toss laptop up on counter part and move table where want. not to mention would make a good bar / drink / snack tray station... taco bar.... as well, being right inside the door. window at stove.... over all i like it, but would hate it on cleaning day. half the reason i dont cook much to begin with is because i can not stand just staring at the wall.... need to be able to see the tv from kitchen, or computer vids as case may be... or see outside at the very least... outside is great for camping... even if i am making manwich sandwich meat while staring at my leaking sewer hose, still better than the wall. just have to clean the grease off it more often than a back splash, and you could just put cutting board or something in front of window, even a piece of cardboard if you know it will be bad splatter, like bacon. especially since there is no outside kitchen, window there even better. outside fridge would be nice too, but again, it is just right inside the door. so eh pretty pointless with main fridge that close to door anyway..... if want tv outside will need to put one on table... not a problem really, everyone probably carries one or two of them folded up somewhere anyway. this one has all everyone would want far as food and drink goes right there inside the door 3 steps away... so i can see where outside kitchen would be a waste here. and nothing wrong with having a 32" or so tv on table outside, they are both pretty cheap, and some VERY light these days, folding table would be 4x heavier than some, or you could mount one on a swing arm off that corner in the cargo on camp side, hardest part would be adding another cable connection in there. ... that dinette alone could sell me on a unit, would work GREAT in many tiny units too as the only thing you have instead of dedicated dinette or couch, especially in the ones where the tv is always behind one seat or the other, where a dinette normally better option for tv viewing no matter what you do, i have zero need for the extra bed the dinette or couch could make even in the small ones.... that dinette.... genius... it should be an option of some sort about everywhere.

Josh: Just found it interesting that the Tracer 200BHSLE Bunkhouse you featured yesterday (24 Feb. 2022) had a ccc of 3160 pounds in a no slide 24’11” bunkhouse model and this 36’11” Grand Design Reflection 341RDS has a ccc of 3150 pounds; 10 pounds less. I know compare apples to apples and all that, but it just goes to show that bigger doesn’t always mean more cargo capacity. More room sometimes means more ability to overload. Respectfully, W.S

You're not wrong. A LOT of times finding a smaller member of a brand's lineup yields greater CCC. Several MFGs will determine the appropriate axle size for their largest model for instance. Then they use that to determine the size of axles, furnace, etc they need and simply replicate that along thru their entire lineup to ensure everything is good. Cougar does that for instance

The arrangement of the dinning and cooking area is certainly interesting. I love the flexibility of the dinning table's positioning, however I think it should be a bit longer. If there is one thing that I'd like see changed, it is the distance between the edge of the "floor" of the kitchen slide out and the stove. As it is, I feel that it will be a reach for someone smaller in statue, like my wife. I think they should cut it back so that the cook can stand closer to the stove.

Oh my Gosh, Josh!!! I love this. Love the layout. Would totally work foe full time living (which is where I'm heading). Love the table options, so many things you can do with it!! To answer your question about the stove window? I'm fine with it... I will always vote for more windows but because you have so many campside in this one it's not really necessary but again, I'm good with it. There is not one thing I would change.

I like it, the kitchen seating is very versatile, I also like the movable bench/storage thing. Not sure if that counter is high enough for stools, but if it is I'd probably put the chairs in storage and make that a breakfast bar type area. I agree with you about under cabinet lighting, it doesn't have to be aggressive. Grand Design has a good reputation, I just wish they'd up the features a little on these and the Imagines.

I would call the unit behind the theater seat a buffet. It looks like there may be some storage available under it and that's what generally a dining room buffet is basically looks like a hutch just doesn't have the top part. That table set up is very interesting the way that it is flexible and movable. It's great if you have fluffy people that need to get into the bench and it's great that they seat portion works as a movable ottoman that you could put in the living room if you wanted it. It would be a great place to store extra bedding for the sofa sleepers as well as a place for games or video game things or whatever those are called. The floor plan in general is something I haven't really seen before at least that I recall in a grand design. I do miss having an island with the sink in there but with this being a shorter fifth wheel I understand there isn't really a spot for that. I do find it kind of odd where the sink is positioned. I always like a window over my sink or at least be able to easily see out a window. But I'm guessing it wouldn't have been feasible to put the cooktop and oven on the wall where the sink is at. The bath is very nice and roomy. Well done. I appreciate having a seat in the shower but I would really prefer to have the fold down type and not a pre-molded seat. As someone who has to use a chair in the shower being disabled the plastic ones are very slippery when wet, whereas I think the wood take ones would be a little easier to use plus they can fold out of the way if you don't need them. I think it would be interesting to see if you could find a waste basket that was one that clipped over the door of the sink cabinet in the bathroom. I think it would get it out of the way but would still be where you generate most of the trash. Plus it would be one less thing you would have to stow away on travel days. I'm fine with the queen bed but I could certainly see where many people would like to have a king bed. I didn't hear you mention if there were other color schemes available. I really don't like so much dark wood. Just earlier this evening i watched a video of some full-timers who live in a Grand Design I want to say Solitude fifth wheel and as soon as they bought it they repainted all the cabinetry white along with the walls and refinished the table tops and dresser tops plus the trim in a lighter color stain. It just seems like such a wasted effort when it would have been great to just have the option to have an all white interior. As always Grand Design has a great reputation for customer service after the sale which is extremely important. I would definitely consider a Grand Design as one of my top options if I were purchasing a fifth wheel. As always, great job Josh!

Great job with the review Josh. I love this floor plan as a couples camper especially for someone who might be full time. That versatile dining area really opens up possibilities and the rear living area just offers so much space. The kitchen isn’t the worlds greatest layout with the separation of stove and sink but thats the price you pay for the versadinoff. I would very much prefer a single basin farmhouse style sink. On the whole well done GD for a couples camper. I agree with your comments on lighting and a I love that on the street side they put storage over the coach. Good job GD. I agree the max air fan should be standard in the bathroom. I’d leave that shelf under the sink alone since you can easily put a small garbage can next to the toilet. Those side stands with the queen would work fine for CPAPs I think and the queen would be my choice for this as a result. Great storage in the bedroom. I love the large awning and that GD maxed out the basement storage with that little alcove. I wonder if some creative use of space wouldn’t possibly open up room for an outside kitchen to the left of the basement storage. I feel like if they got creative it could be doable and it would be a huge value add. Maybe put a mini fridge in that cabinet behind the theater seat with outside access and then put the griddle on one of their awesome new slide out trays behind the basement storage area. I love that they added the tank heaters to this model.

The 2022 updates looked really solid. What do you think about the pinbox? Is a standard setup okay given the size/weight?

@@JoshtheRVNerd I’m ok with a standard pinbox given what a HUGE variety of possible upgrades exist out there. Install brand x and you end up hosing the customer that really wanted brand y. It’s like WD hitches with travel trailers. A builder could make something standard but it only works for those who wanted that in the first place.

Moving the stove and kitchen around in this layout is nice. It doesn’t “alienate” the cook from the family while in the kitchen and the others are in the living room. Keeps them close enough for conversation, etc. That’s the hangup with the front living versions of this. However, as someone else mentioned, the “step up” to the stove area is a trip hazard. I realize the rack systems require this over the cable systems like Cougar uses, but it’s a pain either way. Maybe make that two slides, where the stove is a cable system that can be flush floor and the couch is a rack system.

My wife and I saw this at the local RV show a few weeks ago and both really liked it. While looking at it I thought it would be great to see Josh do a review of it. Then I remembered that you now had access to Grand Design and after a short wait, here it is. This floorplan combines most of the features from our rather different thoughts on favorite floorplans. The opposing hide a bed sofas will be perfect for the teens leaving the house (hopefully) in a few years. The sliding table is very impressive in person. Being able to tuck that up against the outside wall when not in use is going to prevent a lot of bruised hips. The kitchen layout is decent. Glad to see the 12V fridge in there, hopefully they will be able to upgrade to having ice and water in the 12V models in a few years. Always appreciate that you try and show what is accessible in travel mode. The length, weight and CCC are all surprisingly good. I like the idea of maybe pulling this with a properly equipped SRW truck. I agree that the lighting could use some upgrades in various areas. I would also personally like to see some storage under the living room (like the Jayco Eagle 335RDOK). Now that you have access to more brands I would love to see a continuation of the comparison video series. I know that you are busier than the proverbial one-armed wallpaper hanger, so whenever you get the chance. Finally, even though the name on the hat and shirt may have changed it is great to see that you are still the same old RV Nerd that we know and love. Keep on putting out great content and we'll keep watching!

Awesome floorplan! If you cut the price by a third and turn it into a travel trailer you get the Imagine 3100RD. ...which might explain why, after watching this video, the other half conceded that maybe a fifth wheel could be doable. I thought of another request to add to the list, the new Solitude 280RK (either fridge option, it won't matter to the review!). From what I'm seeing, it's a real winner and truly under 35 feet. The only downside to it is the price tag. Thanks for another fun video!

Love the entire floorplan and the color of the cabinetry and furniture👍but I do not understand why they continue to install a cheap dollar store bathroom fan and cheap looking plaid dinette cushions in this almost perfect RV.

Usually either dinette cushions are reversible, but those that bracket against the wall or not. The Bethann kind of did surprise me but it’s not terribly uncommon in this size and segment

I have owned an reflection 303 and 337 and we’ll layer out. This one is a misfit of some designers imagination. Theater seating would be great but two couches and a love seat is overkill. The kitchen sink is a bad location. Upgrade fans. Medicine cabinet is too small. A small waste bathroom is fine. Second air is worth its weight in gold. Top shelf in the closet should have trim to stop items falling off shelf.

Nice to see you've come to the symmetrical side on the stove. We're not into the segregated setup in the living room. When you've ripped out walls in your S&B, you just prefer open floorplans. I like the innovation of the setup though. Good on the road mode, and we like the touches on Grand Design. We prefer 1 big window in the back. And with the ladder rack setup, a bike rack on the hitch would be a problem. And with the commode sign like that, it's a bad feeling to be "all dressed up with no place to go!" Sorry, I couldn't help myself, and sadly I really did try!

I really wish they’d just skip the cheap mattresses and pass the savings on to the customers. You can tell from the comforter that the mattress is likely going to be in a landfill, in the future.

I hate that gd has been calling this new its not its just an updated verson to the 340rds. Have family that has the 340 and it's a really nice unit only thing is the awning arms broke as it's so big and weather isn't always perfect I do love Rockwoods version but the extra slide is something to think about overall nice updates to this one👍👍

Awesome video as always, and loving the new brands. One question...As I am in my camper full time, why is there never enough room to hang a few pictures or a calendar? This one has a couple little spots, but really, why can't we have a little bit of room on a wall without a window? I guess for weight, but come on.

I think that's something no MFG will ever get "Right" according to most folks And sadly the majority of people in my experience can't picture things that aren't overtly there. SO I think most MFGs hedge their bets to what they can control internally
