Hi Garry, it's a lot of fun watching you progress and scratch build. The new layout has a nice atmosphere again. I'm glad that you bought a steam locomotive, which also brings back fond memories of your grandfather. This is how model railways are fun! Well done! Best regards and all the best to you too! Dirk

Great progress Garry, I will agree about the depot area I tend to run more loco's (diesel) in and out of my maintenance shed area than the rest of my layout. Good looking new additions adding to the atmosphere of your layout and a welcome back to it, many thanks for sharing regards and best wishes Barry...

Just been looking at this old video, really love the way you made your gasometer, and the way you made all the metal work, really looks the part..! You should think about selling the component parts to make a gasometer, particularly the geometric metal work parts you made. I'm sure a people would be willing to perchase from you. Particularly those who don't have equipment like you have.! Great channel by the way..!

Many thanks for the feedback, and I can appreciate what you have said.. I used to sell 3D PRINTED stuff but I got really fed up of being stabbed in the back by very well known model suppliers which took my business - and broke me.. SADLEY there is no loyalty theses days.. SO I use the tools I have for my hobby now and enjoy it for myself because I have it to use. Thanks for following and keeping with me apologies for the rant but this what happens to some of us being swallows up by retail bullies.. Take care and all the best Garry

where the concrete troughing (correct term) crosses from side of the track to, the other this would be via a UT (undertrack crossing) there would be a manhole either side with ducts set some distance below the track. Orange pipe (again correct them) is only used to connect individual/isolated items of equipment. The reason being is that the orange pipes are easily damaged by tampers and if you had a cable run ripped up you would have to relay the whole lenath as vou are not allowed to splice/ioin wires as it would be a potential failure point
@cheekytek Жыл бұрын
Thanks Gary.. Being a model railway, I am sure it's not going to kill anyone lol.. Yes correct.. I am totally aware of what you have mentioned. Im not quite sure what bit you saw in the vid that made you reference this, but I believe I mentioned that all these area are not in anyway finished or at completion but appreciate the info. Thanks again and duly noted.. 👍 all the best... Garry

What a fantastic update Gary! Filled to the rafters with good stuff and tips, especially love the idea of using the calipers to mark out, never thought of that! I am still eagerly awaiting my Draycott Manor and BR Green class 37 from Accurascale (I always manage to choose the models they release last doh). Take care mate, cheers Steve

Thanks Steve.. OOh nice..... I only just got mine when they arrived back the second time.. Must say I have not been disappointed on either.. The Manor is my first steamer DCC and blow me away - just love it.. Would be nice if they did a GWR KING or two.. Will see, they would be foolish not too.. 🤔

Hi Garry. I love your progress. The depot looks great. As for the non sound 37 these do not come with a speaker fitted so this will need to be ordered with the sound decoder and don't forget the speaker clips. The sum of parts is greater than the whole with the hassle. Cheaper to buy sound fitted all day long.
@cheekytek Жыл бұрын
Hi Buddy Oooh yeah GEE- that sounded strange of me saying all that on the 37's as non sound with speakers OOOPS - looks like I was brain dead as I got verbally lost in the video - lol In my mind' I meant the steamer with sound 🤪 but that doesn't help anyone 😬 - eek My bad apologies video bloop there.. but I did not know its was more hassle and cost 'than getting a sound fitted out the box one.. Well worth knowing thanks..👍 Thanks again.. I really appreciate your support here.. all the best gazza

Hi Garry, Great progress on your layout. I love the Girder bridge, it looks fantastic seeing a train run over it. I like your idea of using tea leaves for a soily ground base, I might look into that one myself as it'd certainly save on some cash. I have the Manor myself but it's not left the box yet whilst rewiring works are being undertaken. Can't wait to let it loose once the loop is ready, Cheers
@cheekytek Жыл бұрын
Hi Michael - Great hearing from you mate.. Yeah get the kettle on and keep those tea bags lol... In my opinion they work well for ground cover.. Yeap its Taken an age getting a train to run through the bridge but like BR - I got there.. You will just love the Manor. TBH It totally blew me away as this was my first ever sound steam DCC loco. Theres so many beautiful features that really bring this to life and I have had many hours already sending it around the layout.. Which Manor did you go for ?
@MichaelHenfrey Жыл бұрын
@@cheekytek I went for Anthony Manor in the end as by the time I got to pre ordering there wasn’t much choice left. Still it’s gwr liveried which ties in perfectly for my layout. I went for the dcc sound version too. Cheers

Brilliant idea with the I beam jig. Yes purchasing Plastikard can be expensive. Did you design/print the blue/grey jig? Really nice job. Master modeller for sure 🖊📐👍
@cheekytek Жыл бұрын
Thanks - yeah its an easier way than trying to hold the fiddly components - I did make the bigger one with scraps and has been brilliant - But yes 3D printing got the better of me to build the blue/grey one - certainly makes it quicker to glue etc.. Thanks again... 👍

I built the bridge you see on my channel with matte board. I laid it out with the trammels I got when I was an apprentice. Gluing it together was challenging but I managed to finish it👍
