Leica also has the largest network of Galleries in the world. The perfect way to really view images. Printed and hung up. No other camera company has this much dedication to photography. This is another reason the community is so strong. Wonderful video and images. Thank you

I always enjoy visiting Leica stores & galleries when I travel. I admit that I’m fortunate that the main Leica store in my city includes a complete floor devoted to gallery space, but even some of the pocket galleries in some stores provide some of that community feeling.

Great video. I picked up the Q3 43 a couple of weeks ago. I have owned a multitude of the best system camera for specific purposes and I enjoy and marvel at the photographic quality and improvements of high end point-and-shots. The Q3 43, as with all of the other Q camera are incredible professional quality cameras that can also function as the best point-and-shoots money can buy. If I want to really craft a shot I have the ability to intuitively put the entire system into manual focus, aperture, and shutter speed. Purchased it for some of my upcoming travel where I will only take one camera, other than my iPhone. I really, really like this camera and totally like 43 lens vs the 27mm lenses of my Q2 Mono and Q1.

How do you like the q2 mono? Was considering buying one.
@jonlieberman997
@jonlieberman997 10 күн бұрын
@@theonlyredspecial I picked up the Q2 mono when it was first released. I never knew how incredible a dedicated monochrome Leica could be. The dedicated monochromes don’t just digitally convert digital images to B & W. It seems that when processing color is totally removed from the task of the sensor and processor the power of functioning in low light is beyond my expectations. The Q2 mono almost “sees in the dark” with very little noise. I purchased the camera as a challenge when I know that I was moving to one of the most colorful places in the world for a year or so. I am still totally impressed. However, I started into photography before color film was invented so was totally dazzled with B & W and the concept that any image could be captured. I always want to keep a dedicated monochrome camera around. I would love to have a M10 or M11 monochrome because I have a bunch of great Leica M glass. It is important for me to that some of my cameras are robust in foul weather. The Q2 and Q3 are good for such. My Q2 mono performed flawlessly in the humid jungle with lots of rain.

Mensch, Du hast das recht. I am with you every step of the way. The Q3 43 is a jack of all trades/bonne a toute faire camera. It shoots the same angle I can see and I can use the electronic zoom so I do not need a tele. Color and IQ are very good. It is not an X2D but it is good. It is not perfect but no camera is. But for a camera that can be picked up and used for just about everything, the Q3 43 is what we have today. Great review. Knowledgeable, concise, orderly and well presented. Thanks.

I love the NY pictures. Makes me want to go! I think the Q Series is perfect for traveling, if you are short on space. I once rented the Q2 for a weekend to take some pictures. It was a blast. Is it expensive, yes, but the camera makes you want to go out and shoot(at least for me). And I think if a camera, does not matter what brand, is capable of doing so it is worth every penny. 😊 Hope you had a nice X-Mas. Hope you will have a superb New Years Eve. Also, almost 50k!!! You are definitively right: The Q3 43 is really delivering in an outstanding way. I got mine since 3 weeks now and the images are sharp, sharper, sharpest! Even sharper than my Fuji GFX 100S with the 50mm lens (to my mind the most under rated GFX lens) and which is the lens having almost the same field of view as the 43… And for what it is delivering, it is still a small camera. I was opting for the Q3 since ist came out, but never wanted the 28mm, as this is just too wide for what I like to shoot.

I have been waiting for years for a Q3 with a 40 mm lens instead of the 28 and Leica has finally delivered. Now that it is here, I find myself in a quandary between the Q3 43, a Hasselblad x100 with 55 mm lens or upgrading my Sony system with an A1-2. I know these are first world problems, so I apologize for that up front. The reason for me to get the Q3 43 or the Hasselblad is to simplify my photography carry, particularly on trips (one camera, one lens). The Q3 43 biggest advantage IMO is weather sealing and biggest negative will be critical autofocus. The Hasselblad with 55 mm lens biggest advantages for me are (1) something new and totally out of the box and of course (2) huge resolution. The Hasselblad's negatives are critical autofocus and the cost of the system. The Sony A1-2 biggest advantage for me is it expands my existing system with a body that enables photography of fast-movers (like birds) due to incredible autofocus. I like to shoot with shallow DOF where the position of the focus point is critical. It is for this reason I will likely end up with the Sony A1-2, but I will be making a trip to B&H soon to try out all 3 and make a final decision. If you have any thoughts, I would love to hear them. All the best.
@mathphotographer
@mathphotographer 18 күн бұрын
Thanks for sharing, much appreciated. The new Sony A1 Mark II is a beast, I will post my initial thoughts in the next weeks. And with some smaller GM-lenses you can keep the volume of your gear low profile. The X2D has the big negative on the autofocus side as you spot-on pointed out. The autofocus of the Q3 43 is light years better than the X2D's autofocus but still no match for the new Sony A1 II when it comes to focus tracking. I actually think if fast autofocus and focus tracking is the main feature you expect from your gear then Hasselblad is definitely not the right choice and Leica might work but will not match the autofocus speed of a Sony A1 II or a Nikon Z9 or Z8.

For landscapes, was thinking of adding a Q3 43 to support longer range cropping to current Q2 Ghost Edition for wides. OTOH, instead of carrying 2 cameras, perhaps more sensible to add a SL3+24 or 28-70 zoom for 1 camera 1 lens to get full 60 mp resolution?

What is the state of software with Leica? The Hasselblad Phocus creates me a lot of headaches and efforts, e.g. due to non-compliance in the EXIF data it produces. But one would need this piece of Chinese software for a tethered shooting. How would such a setup look like with Leica, as an alternative leaf shutter cam, pure Leica software, explicitly considering a non-Adobe setup?

Great video as always, but I dispute your statement that a 43mm is good for portraits. Nothing beats a 105mm. Will Leica ever deliver a q with a proper portrait fashion shooters lens? Not just cropping in, but with the background compression. Thank you.
@mathphotographer
@mathphotographer 18 күн бұрын
Thanks for your positive feedback and your thought is spot-on of course, 105mm is way off superior than 43mm for portraits. Having said that, 43mm is already much superior to 28mm when it comes to people photography and portraits. And I doubt that Leica will go longer in focal length for future Q-cameras because they want to keep the Q as universal as possible so that you still also can shoot landscape and architecture with your Q-cameras. And of course you can shoot landscape with 105mm, gives that nice compressed look, but will for many people nevertheless not be wide enough in terms of angle and Field of View.

I wondered if we could have a 50mm Q3, and then they gave us 43, which is fantastic. Then I understand why they made the Q 28mm in the first place. I love 43mm Q3, but I must admit that the 28mm version is more versatile. I got one 43mm when it was just released and then sold it. I will wait for the Q4 43mm.
@mathphotographer
@mathphotographer 18 күн бұрын
It really depends on what scenes you typically shoot, whether you prefer 28 or 43. The next Q4 will however take some time to arrive, I guess not before 2026 but let's see. Since I get new gear from Leica before they announce it I will hopefully be quick enough with my review when a new Q4 gets in scope :)

Some technical questions on your panorama shots 1. How many pictures are stitched up in photoshop? 2. Do you use portrait or landscape mode for each of the component pictures? 3. What brand of tripod and ball head have you engaged for Q3? 4. Would the same result be achieved by Q3 28 as they have the same sensor? in fact you may shoot one or two pictures less as 28 is a wider lens

I have the A7RV and Leica and you’re missing the point… the simplicity of Leica is unmatched by Sony. Sure the A7Rv is excellent and is packed with “features” i agree, but Sony is a tech company so we expect nothing less. Leica focuses on optics and photography… they don’t make PlayStations or consumer products like home stereos etc… but the real point is, optics… very few lenses come close to Leica character… I own the 35 50 85v2 and 135 GM Sony lenses and none match the rendering of Leica glass. The Q is elegant and simple with an APO lens and while I agree it’s a bit pricey, it is a wonderful package. Keep in mind, adding a GM lens with an A7RV you’re looking at 5k so not cheap either. At the end of the day I think people should enjoy and be free to use whatever they enjoy and what makes them happy to use… my Sonys have their place as tools but when I travel and when I shoot for myself, my Leica is the one I grab.
