I love this battery box. I didn’t get charged any taxes possibly due to solar import exemptions. I got a $50 coupon from your video so my shipping was free. Customer service is not easy, slow delays but they do answer with some communication language issues. Here are some items I have identified on my blue 1 kW inverter battery box: - Cascadia 4x4 MPPT Charge Controller (not the most efficient but I can get about 130 watts from 2 x 100 watt solar panels - BMS JBD SP04S034 (came as part of the 280 Ah LIFEPO4 battery kit) with Bluetooth but you can't download or use the Licitti app but I use Overkill or XiaoXiang free apps with no problems I now have a Renogy Rover 40 Amp MPPT Charge Controller with 4 solar panels and still use the built Cascadia MPPT with no problem. I bought the 30 Amp Licitti battery charger to charge fast if I have Charge off a generator if no sun. This battery box is going to outlast me and something I will pass down. It's one of the best yet little known buys out there. Thank greatly for your awesome review.

I'm curious, do you use both the built-in charge controller and your external 40amp charge controller at the same time?
@OP-fd4lh2 ай бұрын
@@TheWoodHaven Yes, both. But with the built-in, I only use one solar panel. No issues with running both at same time. I get tempted to put all 5 solar panels on the Renogy Rover but with just the 4 I have, the voltage can spike and I don't want to come near the voltage limit of the Rover. On some days, I have gotten up to 96 Watts per panel with the Rover but less with the built-in so the Rover has worked well for me as well. I am very happy with this battery box. I get tempted to buy another one at times, but I am slowly buying the components for a 48 Volt system instead.
@TheWoodHaven2 ай бұрын
@@OP-fd4lh I'm with you. Eventually I will get a 48V system and keep the battery box for a portable solution. I'm wondering if the built-in controller is set to a different battery chemistry and that's why you never get very many watts out of it. I''ve noticed that on mine too but have not looked into it.

@@OP-fd4lh I just looked up the specs on the Cascadia charge controller. It only supports AGM, Gel and Lead Acid batteries with a max input of 130 watts. There's the answer.
@OP-fd4lh2 ай бұрын
@@TheWoodHaven Wow. I had no idea about Cascadia MPPT not supporting LiFePo. Thank you for telling me. I definitely don't feel comfortable with using it now. I feel very comfortable with with the Renogy Rover and will just use that.

Thanks for the thorough video. Only disappointing thing about this battery box is it’s solar input capability. Per Licitti’s website it is limited to 150w and 45v, which means with the 280 ah battery it would take at least 24 hours at 150 w to charge. They need to install a bigger charge controller to allow more solar input. Unfortunately that is a deal breaker for me as I don’t want to buy a larger solar charge controller and make a cable and wire it through the 50 or 175 anderson plug as it starts to get a bit clunky.
@TheWoodHaven7 ай бұрын
It's true, this is the lower end box. They do have a larger box with a 2000 Watt inverter and 20 amp MPPT controller. I swapped that one for the first gen box at my cabin. I'm using these smaller boxes for Jackery type applications and they shine there.
@louvang41223 ай бұрын
That's an awesome idea connecting an external battery to the 175a Anderson plug! What awg cable did you use or would you recommend? I have an extra battery and would like to do the same.
@TheWoodHaven3 ай бұрын
Just match the size that is connecting the internal battery. I don't have mine in front of me but it looks to be at least 4 awg.

Thank you for doing the video. You answered a critical question on the battery box sizing. I asked this question on another KZbinr‘s channel and got the answer back that yes the 280 amp hour batteries would fit. Plus, Plus, other people had commented in the comments area that it would work. As in your video, seeing is believing, versus taking somebody’s word for it. Hey, I have a very important second question. Do we still need to have that separate device, to change the MPPT controller on the box from lead acid battery to lithium? So that it will solar charge lithium batteries correctly? For some reason Lucitti in the process of making their battery boxes and installing the MPPT charge controllers are all set to lead acid batteries and if it’s not changed, it won’t solar charge correctly for a lithium battery. My question is is have they changed this position and are they set to lithium batteries?

You know, I got the battery kit most of the way in the first gen battery box. I'm guessing that if I just taped up the battery cells and not put the outer jacket on, it would fit without swapping the posts. I'm not aware of the mppt controller needing to be changed on the Pro box. I haven't gone through a complete charge cycle using the mppt port so I don't know for sure.
@AlanLarkin50637 ай бұрын
Thanks for letting me know, and replying to my comment. I’m still undecided on which box to get. To get going. Probably going to get the 1st generation box. Still going to utilize the built in mppt and add an external mppt controller.

I will admit to not fully reading the description for both power stations on their website. Do you know what the VSR function is and how would I make this work to charge the units. I have both versions of this power station. Both should have a built in VSR. Thanks.
@TheWoodHaven6 ай бұрын
A VSR is a Voltage Sensitive Relay. You would connect between your car alternator and an auxiliary battery which can be used to charge the auxiliary battery. Licitti is suggesting that you can use this setup to charge the AC Battery Box Pro as well. The only issue I can see with this is that it does not have the ability to differentiate between Lead Acid or Lithium batteries so I would not use this method. It will work fine, but you will never fully charge the unit as it uses your car alternator settings which are set for Lead Acid batteries.

Thanks for this review! Is the display switch also the inverter switch? With display off will AC outlets and 12V outlets still work?
@TheWoodHaven7 ай бұрын
Yes, I should have explained that better. The switch is for both the display and the inverter. The 12V outlets will continue working as long as the master switch is on.

@@TheWoodHaven Thanks for clarifying! One more question - what is the dimensions of the licitti battery that you put inside the unit? According to the product listing, max length battery is 320mm, which a lot of non mini 100ah batteries exceed. Thanks!
@TheWoodHaven7 ай бұрын
@@theFisforFrancis That must be a misprint. It holds a group 31 battery which is 330mm. The one I put in is 323mm.

regrettably you cant get a Licitti box in Australia unless you spend a ship load of $ in shipping + rate of exchange, set up to suit Aus 240v @ 50 Htz pushes the $ to over $ 500, there si one from EU but still big $

That's a bummer. I would think you could get cheaper shipping from a China warehouse there in Australia. Maybe they will get a Melbourne warehouse soon.

Does the new box use a shunt to accurately show battery state?
@TheWoodHaven7 ай бұрын
I went back and traced the display of both boxes to a circuit board (same board in both boxes). The circuit board has a current sensing resistor (shunt) that accurately calculates current, voltage and wattage. So yes, both boxes do. If someone stated these boxes are not shunted, they are incorrect.
