Since we already have TS4 which has the main focus of having great visuals, I think Life By You might shine in other aspects. Also, it's great to see hyper realism in this game , for those who like it, as well as a more cartoonish style like in Paralives. Different kinds of Life Simulator for different people. 😊

@@Chinaleone I’m fine with hyper realism but the sizing in the game is just awful. I mean just look at the bathroom. Who’s bathroom is that big? Everything is so far apart b/c the sizing of the objects vs the room is off. And on the road, the cars look far smaller than the street. Like it doesn’t fit. Also, the environment looks twice as realistic as the people and objects so I do hope all the graphics get improved. Imo. Gameplay looks great tho.

This is incredible, i'm glad theres a life sim that can finally break out of the sims cashgrabby expansion pattern, and selling basic life sim stuff when it can be included in an amazing solid base game, not getting overexcited in case it falls flat, but just having DIFFERENT life sims that compete with sims is very positive, I think this game will definitely allow for cc and mods too

It's worth pointing out that Paradox's Cities Skylines had a fair few expansions. Nowhere near as many as the Sims and CS also gave you a solid base game, so you didn't feel the need for expansions, unlike the Sims.

Paradox is notorious for dropping a ton of DLC for their games, so they will more than likely do the same in this one. Granted, they are a development company whose games actually feel finished without the additions of DLC. Top-down strategy games are their expertise, so I am very excited to see how they handle a life sim!

I don't mind the hyperrealistic style, it makes it stand out more from the other life sims in development we know of, and it still has some artistic choices such as the vibrant lighting and heavy bloom

@@ketameanii Bloom is the effect that makes surfaces struck by light "glow". To me it seems that for some reason most 3D games since the late '00s are shock full of it, so much that it tends to kill the realism (and hurt my eyes lol). Sadly it seems like this game isn't going to escape it. 6:40 and 7:44 are especially jarring.

As someone who plays Crusader Kings III, the amount of overwhelming options and menus make sense, they take time to get used to, but are very helpful in customization. if I'm understanding this trailer correctly, Script Creator sounds like it will do just that. And, more than likely, as Pixelade was saying in his video about using Different Languages in the game, I believe that Script Creator will allow anyone to create their own script, in their own language. I bet I am right about this...

Most people I know IRL spend most of their gameplay creating families then play the actual game for like 10 minutes for lack of gameplay. I think a lot of us are looking forward to a real simulation game again (something we haven’t seen since the sims 3)

@@homosexualitymydearwatson4109 yea same but the thing is i think i prefer having an aesthetically pleasing game that i just use to create a story or decorate vs playing an actual game that’s not pretty. It’s kind of shallow but it’s the truth. I think many people who play the sims look to escape the dull reality of their real world and want a sense of aesthetic control in their virtual world. It’s less about playing the game but creating an aesthetic you love. Sure there may be more tools to create your own story in life by you but at this stage it’s not “pretty” enough for many simmers to make the switch.

I love the alpha look tbh. With the sims, my cc is mainly alpha. It's a nice switch up from other simulator games also being cartoonish. I remember with sims 4 came out and a lot of people didn't like the cartoon look compared to the more realistic look from previous games but they got used to it. I feel like people will adapt

9:40 hm I wonder if they will implement the Ageing system that's in Crusader Kings 3. For those of you who don't know, CK3 is another game developed by Paradox. It's mostly focused on Roleplaying your Ruler. In it, you can physically see the effects of Ageing. Seeing your Ruler/heir go from a newborn to an elder is one of my favorite parts as it gets you more attached to your character.

I loved the random plate on the floor. it made me laugh...I am convinced it's a throwback/easter egg to Sims 2 fans where their sims would place their dirty plates on the floor and then cockroaches would come which was one of the things that made the game fun

I think there will be an in-game “gallery” kinda thing where you can not only share your lots and households, but also any mods, CCs, custom jobs, custom skills, etc that you create after seeing that little run through of all the things you can create with this game, at the end. Love it! And happy it exists! I think the biggest problem stylistically is their lighting. If they can soften the shadows and blow out less; I think it'll really help all the cool properties (like reflection on the counters!) they have on the materials shine more. Also it's got a sort of low resolution on textures (on the jeans, walls, etc.) for the amount of realism they seem to be aiming for. Not sure if that's a decision made for performance, but if they could get better/higher resolution on their textures; especially the character clothes; it'd probably help pull it together. But lighting is still the big one missing to me. Excited for this! I'm definitely trying out all the new life simulators! 😊

Paradox is not about making sure games can run on low end PCs like Sims. There are minor graphic settings but most of the time we need mods to downgrade graphics to work. Their games is one of the reasons I spent 5k on my current pc

I also agree about the graphics but if the gameplay is enjoyable I can get used to it. I'm really excited about the customization for objects and the in-depth options about the characters. I feel like those are what will set this game apart from the others. It seems like they want this to be a sandbox that players will build on. I had to remind myself to take a breather, I got so excited seeing all the possibilities with this new upcoming life simulation game! However, I do have some concerns. I really, REALLY hope that they have some stories/gameplay/everything already in the base game that the developers have come up with, otherwise it's going to be The Sims 4 all over again with coming up with literally EVERYTHING by yourself. It gets EXHAUSTING just after creating a story for your first sim on a fresh save file, and as much as I do like giving the player as much control over their own gaming experience as possible, I also don't want to do ALL the heavy lifting for a AAA company. Again, not trying to be a party pooper, just trying to be realistic. Also, the graphics really aren't that bad, though I do agree with you, Pixelade, it needs some polishing. But they are at the perfect stage for polishing the graphics IF the gameplay and other elements are up and running smoothly. Naturally, there are going to be bugs/glitches/crashes, just due to the diverse hardware/software circulating in the world now, and some of those bugs turn out to be endearing features of the game (Skyrim's space program via giants, Minecraft's Creepers, Mario's multiple coin blocks, and let's not forget that GTA was inspired from an AI glitch, just to name a few). But the game should be solid enough that they can now focus on graphics, especially with them releasing the game in September. I hope they've been hard at work during the pandemic, and I truly do hope EA has STRONG competition.

I personally like the hyperrealistic style to it. We already have paralives which is going to be more on the cartoony side and sims4 is in between. I hope this game style stays likes this and doesn’t change.

When TS2 uni came out, my pc didn’t even have a graphics card, I used an emulator and speed 3 was 1/2 of speed 1, but I had it and could play it I was the happiest chick in town.

I love the art style of sims 4. I also really like this art style, even though its completely different. I am less keen on paralives art style. I guess everyone is different, which is why getting all this extra choice/competition in the life sim genre is just great to finally see coming, Great video Matt as always.

Graphics are nice but I don't play games for graphics, I play them for deep and interesting gameplay. I was hoping for deep and substantial gameplay and modding capabilities and they are bringing that and more. With time I bet they will improve on the graphics though. I think this is going to be really amazing, I think some people are going to be thrown off trying to adjust to something that (although is a life simulator) isn't aiming to be or play like the Sims. :) There's obviously a good deal of similarities, but I'm envisioning this to be something that is a hybrid between life simulation and open world city builder. Without rambling guesswork and possible details, I'll just say I think a lot of "thinking outside the box" will be present here vs what people expect from "The Sims". and I'm EXCITED :D

honestly, I would love a hyper-realistic style for the game just to be more different. I just wish that it had a higher quality. It looks very late 2000s/early 2010s-ish graphics and it's kinda outdated. I would really love to see more improvements in terms of the art direction, but for now, the gameplay really looks great so far! I got really surprised that it would be released later this year too

EDIT rephrasing: I really wish they take different approaches to family and neighbors than sims 4, with less fabricated feeling relationships and activities where those event feel more like some goal post to reach than actually having meaningful moments with others. Also wish that we would receive invites to fun activities by families or neighbors like backyard parties or family inviting you over for thanks giving or Xmas, opposed to everything having to be player initiated like with sims 4.

I really hoped that one of the life simulators being developed would have a realistic look. I think that a realistic art style will be something people will easily adjust to. I'm also hoping that they offer modders some art style swatches to work with so they can easily replicate their art style in game if they opt to not make their style so realistic. Despite this, I wish the face details were more defined. Maybe they have that option in game but it wasn't focused on in the reveal?

In this one clip i saw cars, skateboards, mopeds, scooters, bikes as some of the travel options and I am loving that it's not like sims 4 with the teleportation mechanic. I missed the options in sims 3 of driving or riding a bike or riding a horse or whatever else I had that I could use for travel.
