You have to skip to about 4:10 to find out you need an extra kit that costs way more than a few extra remotes.

2016 Nissan Maxima wont work with Liftmaster opener. Guess I'll try this. Its been frustrating because the Ram truck and GMC Acadia paired easily! Thank you

I have had the same issue with my 2016 GMC 3500, it will not learn the Liftmaster garage door to work. Funny thing is, the thing did work up until 2 days ago. Not sure what happened but I had to clear all codes on the openers, the vehicles and start anew. The 2014 BMW hooked up n o problem, the 2 remotes with the liftmaster no problem, as well as the combination remote on the outside of the house works. I just can't for the life of me get the truck to work. It did, so why now not? Well I guess I'll use a liftmaster remote in the truck now, I'm not dropping $50 to Homelink for a repeater! Great video by the way! :)

@@Duf well in fact it is even weirder, I went out this morning to work and I saw the Liftmaster remote there and I thought, hmmm, I'll give it a try on the door in front of me, so did the two button push with the Liftmaster 2"s away and what do you know, the Homelink in the truck now works with the right side garage door. But! not on the one on the left. Grrrr

I have Liftmaster, similar problem. Could use my existing remote with same procedure and worked! Did not need to buy additional link. I have 3 toyota's, all worked. 1st use remote to set car button. Hold both till rapid flash. 2nd press garage door motor learn button. 3rd go back to car and press button (may be multiple times) till motor light blinks. Car Homelink button now will work.

I can pair the chamberlain fob and tundra but the learning doesn't want to work. I have an older chamberlain with the aftermarket mylink, it works fine with homelink. The newer chamberlain mylink went bad after 2 years😳 and won't learn the truck.

I just had a similar problem just now and watched this video. As soon as I heard I had to buy something else I kept trying. What I found was that only one button on my two garage door openers could be used to transfer. I suspect if you have a three button garage door opener only one of them is on a channel the cars garage opener can “hear”. Once I tested the process over again using the button that worked with the other first button it worked. My garage doors had two different openers. One required me to push the button on the opener after training the car button to activate the cars button. The other did not. You may want to update your video to mention this issue as I would hate for someone to buy parts when they didn't have to. Great video either way. Watching it helped me think of the solution. No decoder needed. Hold the remote close to the rear view as if you’re programming it, after that, hit the button on the garage unit, hold the button on your rear view. Your light on the garage unit will flash and you’re good to go. No extra items needed.

I push the button on the fob then grab the bottom of the door to assists its rise. Failure to do so means it will stop only a foot off the ground. As for operating it from the car, not a chance. I do know if the door is open or not though, just as long as I can see the door from where ever I am. I love the idea of opening closing the door over the internet. Send me a link and I'll see if I can open your garage door from the UK :-)

@@Duf My opener is an after market item fitted to basically manual up and over doors. If you load the opener too much it stops as part of the design. There is supposed to be wires connected to springs which take the load of the door but the wires have failed. Just another job I need to be getting on with :-)

Yea my understanding the Tesla uses homelink hardware as well and it was fine. Hard to believe a 2016 vehicle uses something not compatible.

This isn’t a solution. I have a double car garage powered by identical lift master openers. The left side programs quickly and easily, the right side has failed 20+ times now. After the initial pairing, the first time we try the button, it blinks once on and off. Then nothing.

Found solution to connecting new chevy suburban to 2002 liftmaster garage door, simply remove my other vehicle from garage, connected in seconds after pushing learn button and in vehicle home link button. Would not connect with other vehicle in garage.

If yours doesn't work, make sure you follow these steps carefully. STEPS FOR GENERIC OPENER (Specifically MyQ LiftMaster garage door openers) 1. Hold your LiftMaster portable opener VERY close to the Homelink buttons 2. Clear the previous openers if you don't want to add a new one, or ignore this step if you do (To do so, hold buttons 1 & 2) 3. While holding button 1 on your original portable garage opener, press and hold the button that you would like to pair the opener with on your Homelink integrated car garage opener 4. Wait until the slow blinking light on the 2nd button turns into a fast blinking light 5. Release both the Homelink and LiftMaster buttons, then to test, press and hold the Homelink button you just paired for about 2 seconds. If the pairing was successful, then it will open/close. STEPS FOR ROLLING CODE GARAGE (If the first method does not work, or if you do not have a MyQ LiftMaster opener) 1. After doing the first method, press the LEARN button on your wall mounted garage opener, or on the ceiling mounted opener if no LEARN button is located on the wall opener (read manual to find correct button) 2. You now have ~30 seconds to complete this next step. 3. Inside your car, press and hold the button you would like to pair the opener with for about 2 seconds, then release. 4. Repeat step #3 1-4 times, until the garage successfully opens. 5. Test it by pressing and holding the Homelink button you just paired for about 2 seconds. If the pairing was successful, then it will open/close.

Bottom line is no voodoo magic will make this work unless you get the adapter kit.

@@Duf It does work but your car homelink should support version 4.0 or higher. that is the key. then his steps will work. if you look at part number on your rear view mirror it should end with either 4 or 5 if it is 3 it wont support rolling code or myq

My 2010 infiniti G37s homelink worked fine with an old genie pro 88 screw drive lift system from 1989 . I upgrade to a liftmaster and nothing works. When you were trying before you got the adaptor , what was your homelink light doing after holding down the buttons simultaneously . ? And i noticed you mentioned when you tried the program that you repeatedly pressed the grarage remote button instead of holding it down like directions say to do. When i go thru the programming process the homelink light simply stops blinking altogether after 90 secs or so. And did you keep your car running or off? Or key setting to on but not engine running. Does any of that makena difference?
