May Allah reward all of the scholars who open this topic. No, doubt None Muslim parents will respond should a person convert to Islam. At times none Muslim parents actually accompany their daughter or son through the shahadah ceremony in our mosques with total acceptance and a smile on their face- that's also part of the conversion picture. Concerning parents who are against a conversion ,most of the times it is due to the bad and wrong conclusions the media states on Islam. If they only refer to Islam though that source, it's no wonder non Muslim parents get concerned if a son or daughter enters Islam- their worries are out of love, seen from that angel who can blame them.? Just go easy on them. As said islamic history provides with lots of examples on how to react. But the new candidate who prevents him,herself from Islam due to family members negatively attitude as the given reason, should be advised to look at the situation from a bigger perspective. Humans life choices no matter the topic will always be offensive to some, we are bound to be criticized. Iblis is very keen on inspiring a candidate with excuses not to enter Islam, and to scare off , but seek Allah's help pray and He will provide from sources you won't imagine. Should you be a new convert congratulations 🎉 👏,stand firm and never lose sight of the truth. Surround yourself with supportive friends from within the circles of the mosques. Be patient with your parents reaction, and don't be shy to seek advice and be sure to explain yourself thoroughly how it is to be in your shoes. How many times have we not heard of parents being guided through the words and patience of a son or daughter.! Generally, life is a struggle but Islam provides a toolbox of solutions. Learn the salah and trust He will hear the dua you make for family members. Allah gives you hope when He says in the Quran : (Remember) when you sought help of your Lord and He answered you (saying): "I will help you with a thousand of the angels each behind the other (following one another) in succession." Invite family members to open day arrangements, that might demystify Islam.
