Decades after their legendary 1984 All Valley Karate Tournament clash, Johnny Lawrence and Daniel LaRusso find themselves on opposite ends of life's spectrum. This, however, reignites old tensions and ignites a new generation of fighters.
Cobra Kai, created by Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz, and Hayden Schlossberg, is a sequel to the beloved Karate Kid films. Originally a KZbin Red/Premium series, it shifted to Netflix for later seasons. The series is produced by Sony Pictures Television and takes place roughly between 2017 and 2019.
The show offers a fresh perspective on the "Miyagi-verse" through Johnny's eyes. It explores the consequences of unresolved conflict and the complexities of good versus bad. While Johnny and Daniel remain the central characters, the series also features a talented young cast including Xolo Maridueña, Tanner Buchanan, Mary Mouser, and Jacob Bertrand. Familiar faces from the Karate Kid films, like Martin Kove and Thomas Ian Griffith, also return.

This is good! Though I was hoping to see them set it as "Miyagi's Blade" with the Blade representing the return of the aggressive aspects of ancient Miyagi-Do combined with Johnny's contributions as former Cobra Kai Sensei, and of course a Blade being the perfect tool for a man to slay a Cobra. But all good, that was just my guess as to where they might go

COBRA KAI NATION: That Gi design is completely badass. I wish that they would have made the Eagle a little bit bigger but still a very cool design. Honestly, I think that the eagle is very symbolic of not just Johnny officially joining Miyagi Do but also Miguel & every single member of Eagle Fang FINALLY becoming a member as well.

Eagle represents the United States. Bonsai tree represents Japan. Cobra Kai has its roots in Korea. This will be an international competition and it looks like they are playing up the patriotic aspects of the competition.
